As an autistic young adult this made me so happy watching this live and seeing the community I’m a part of getting showcased like this. I’m definitely going to try and audition for the broadway production or the national tour if it happens or possibly a movie adaptation of the musical
I saw this show last week in previews and can not recommend it enough. I spent the evening with tears of joy running down my face as did pretty much everyone sitting around me. The cast is amazing ~ you will fall in love with each of them. I hardly ever see a Broadway show more than once, but I will definitely be going back to OHIO!
As an autistic performer and choreographer, this gives me SO much joy and hope!! I can’t wait until I get to see this show! I know this is jumping the gun, but I can’t lie, I’m also excited for if the licensing is released in a few years to work on a community production! It would be an honor to work on a show that represents people like me with such love and joy. Until then, I’m working on swinging a trip to NYC to see the show!! Thank you for bringing this story to the stage
We saw that performance of How to Dance In Ohio last time it was in Time Square and it was a gorgeous show. It has some of my ActionPlay friends performing in it. Saw Both the Broadway show and the Concert. We are both Autistic Twins.
Love this show, and everyone involved with it. I've seen it twice now in previews. The performers are sincere and so honest in their portrayal of the characters. Give it a chance. Good for this team for trying something new instead of another jukebox show. The music in this is gorgeous. Maybe not filled with big, flashy numbers - but so much heart.
This is amazing I have autism and I actually know dr amigo and some of the real people from how to dance in Ohio the documentary and I’m so happy that autism is finally getting recognized and so proud of you guys and I actually met one of the cast members of how to dance in Ohio the musical she came to one of are Friday night clubs and I’ve actually been in some of dr amigos plays and I’m actually a actor myself on my TH-cam channel I do comedy skits there really good and funny I dance animations all kinds of stuff really 😉🙏🏿👍
My next door neighbor sent me this, as she knows I'm autistic, and this was marvelous in every sense of the word. Keep making this world a more beautiful and amazing place. Much love, respect and kindness to you all!🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️😊🖖Marcus
Sadly, this will be one of the costliest flops of the season. If this was the best “How to Dance in Ohio” has to offer, then it is a pathetic excuse for a musical. The lyrics are garbage and sound as if they were written by an AI. It also does not help that it feels as if the playwright is infantilizing people with autism. Which is exploitative and offensive. PS: Let me guess, your ticket was comped by the producers?
@@ChienaAvtzon YOU ARE SO MEAN! You are just a hater going around hating perfectly amazing and awesome entertainment! You should apologize to the cast and crew for calling their show garbage and then you need to go be a kinder person in your life!
@@justingreen2432 - Excuse me? I will not apologize for being honest. A show this bad had no business being mounted on Broadway. Shame on every person who exploited these autistic actors. That includes losers like you, who refuse to be critical.
@ChienaAvtzon Are you autistic? From what I've heard, autistic people love the show. I myself am autistic and the songs I've heard from the show resonate.
I feel represented at last now with a show about people on the spectrum such as myself and starting autistic actors in those roles as the young adults. I hope this does well come awards season because if it goes on tour I want to see this show.
I think it's hilarious that they name-dropped Macy's at the Macy's Day Parade- imagine the show's executives and investors all in a meeting and suddenly one of them goes "I know EXACTLY what we need to do" lol
there's an EP out now. the full cast album will be out some time in 2024. they're still in previews so they can't record the album until all changes have been finalized.
It's a medley of several songs from the show including Getting Ready for the Dance and Building Momentum. And another song I don't know yet cause they haven't released all the tracks yet and i havnt been able to go see the show

Granted I don't know the whole show yet, but I'm curious why whoever was responsible picked this segment to perform. The beginning and end were amazing, but the middle was... meh with maybe the exception of a few dancers (the actors for Mel and Tommy were pretty good there).
Didn't we just do 'The Prom' , 'Mean Girls', 'Be More Chill' and 'Evan Hansen' in the past few years? This is like the bargain bin discount version. Just because you slap 'identity' on it which lets be real, is not unique or new these days, doesn't make it good and worth a Broadway ticket price. In fact, considering this show does nothing but shove identity front and center, it makes me want to skip it purely based on that to begin with, but the whole 'high school anxiety' thing regardless of who its coming from is so overplayed and overdone it's almost angering that these tropes keep getting funded. And for the love of everything if I hear one more show rhyme 'chance' and 'dance' again I'm going to scream. Nothing here is interesting and the preview box office is already indicating that audiences are over all of this nonsense as well. Ya'll aren't bringing in the ticket buyer. Investors take note...we're tired of this.
I know someone in the show, not well, but I know them and your critique is just going to slide off their back because they are living their dream on Broadway and that amazing. Hate all you want, the music is amazing and so is the message so your petty little insults will fizzle away in the minds of people who really matter. Not you, and your small mind.

The most uplifting contemporary musical since THE PROM!!!
