    We hope everyone is enjoying the video! We appreciate everyone's comments and some interesting questions raised. We would just like to clarify we use a high-temp Pacemaker Blue paint that is specially formulated to take 600 degrees celcius whilst retaining colour and coverage. If looking for higher temp retention then we can offer our ceramic coating services done in house right here in Richmond South Australia since 2004. This business is called Ceramic Coat Australia and services the customers off the street and also coats Pacemaker products regularly for stock supply. Our King Brown range systems are made from 409 stainless steel and the paint is rated to 250 degrees celcius. The material goes brown as it tempers and it is this that gives our King Brown range its golden brown appearance after a short period of use. The materials we use in our manufacturing processes depends on the application of the product. With the heat around the header area we have found that you can not beat the flexible properties of mild steel. And likewise we have found that 409 stainless steel (automotive grade) is the best for our systems as it's more malleable to work with whilst retaining the stainless steel component which gives it longjevity. Happy to answer any questions you may have for us (without giving away our IP ;)

    I had a holden 202 and I wanted to put extractors on it after I had it rebuilt that a joint called “Prosser power”..... I had them install what we used to call “a mild cam”...... Sometimes called a quarter cam - Reground of course from my old cam that was in the stuffed motor I couldn’t afford a new one....
    back in 1989 the brand of the day was “genie extractors” if you didn’t have enough money for a set of genies most people had “pacemaker headers” And they were definitely very well respected and very popular
    I managed to find a brand cheaper again at the bottom of the scale they did a decent job they were called “hurricane headers”.....
    Glad to see extractors are still made here
    thanks for that video brought back memories

    My first pacemaker extractors were on my falcon XP i brought them secondhand many many years ago as i couldn't afford new ones back in the days i fitted them myself with a single pipe and a hot dog at the rear , from that day i was sold on them every car i have owned i have used pacemaker, i have now brought an HZ Holden 308 v8 took me years to save up for it i will be putting pacemaker extractors on it as soon as i can save up the money for them in my mind they are Australias best extractors.

    Nice Video Telfo, WHo doesnt have a smile maker memory of their first Pacemaker header lol
    HQ 202 with 4 wheel Jam tins and it used to get stuck in first gear (Column shift) lol
    Sounded awesome blasting around and solved the leaky manifold hassle too!

    This video is pretty cool, because I've just ordered a full twin 2 1/2" stainless mandrel bent cat back Pacemaker exhaust system to suit my 2004 BA XR8 Falcon ute - so there is every chance that my pipes may have been featured in this video being made :D (I know it's a long shot) :P

    We all remember the first genie headers as well, with the genie key chains you got for buying a set of headers as well. : ) Love to see a new upload of the ceramic heat coating process or is that outsourced ? Still a great australian made company, i wonder if you brought your own Titanium piping and asked them to make up a set of headers ? Would they do it and how much would they charge, after all its automated and takes little time to make, the only aspect i would be concerned would be the amount of pressure used to bend the titanium say TI 2 grade which is considered commercial grade, after all it goes right up to TI 6, or even more temp or chemical resistance grades as well, the same with Stainless steel grades. :)

    So basically not crack testing on the welding hum, just think of how much weld is on the inside of the piping or melted metal which has joined up between the piping or lag, that needs to be removed and pressure tested, think about going just a little larger than 1- 3/4 diameter, like say instead of 44.45 mm go to 45.5mm ,everyone sticks to the same size 1- 3/4, 5/8, /7/8 etc etc, but not in mm, hum wonder why, just a little larger and the right size makes your engine run perfectly, so work out the amount of CFM going out per rev and match port the tuned length headers and piping and you have perfection, not 1/ 3/4 or 1 /7/8 and in all titanium T2 grade and welded by tig ti welding wire and heat treated or coated on the outside only ?

    • @SomervilleMetalWorks
      @SomervilleMetalWorks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      mate you need to lay off the bongs or something. You buying a mass produced set of headers for a shitbox holden not a custom exhuast made of titanium for a mclaren or some shit. The fact that they mig'd and as stated by people with 10 years experience i doubt there is hardly any penetration more than is required. As far as the stainless goes you dont know what they or how they weld it they never showed anything of it. So stop talking shit about something you know nothing about. FYI 304 and 316 will go a golden brown when heated much like titanium its just an oxide layer forming on the steel. 409 however will rust.

    • @7071t6
      @7071t6 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WOw after all that i said stainless steel traditional does not rust, i understand there's a lot of different grades of stainless the same with all alloys, but the point is that, for the welder to achieve perfect welding techniques and use the right equipment its very hard to have a consistent welding process by hand unless you have been trained by people and achieved a certified level of welding like a aerospace metals welder, which you have to complete a course run by CASA and actually a friend of mine wrote the bloody book for the course for CASA and the aircraft welding certification, which is considered very hard and only a few people in australia are at that level, which was back in 2000, qantas, Ansett and a couple of small airfields around australia which had aircraft certified welders, so anyway like i said most people dont understand a lot of companies including car manufacturers cut corners and mainly due to outsourcing and lack of Quality control etc cheers :) The point is that aftermarket exhaust companies need to take things to the point to grow and look after the aftermarket OE exhaust systems, look at HSV, why are people straight away putting other brands on, when they are made for the factory and set to the engines OE setting to run at the most efficient and performance settings for that car, yet clients still put DPE/ Hurricane whatever system to make the car performs better, yet if they set out to the best performance exhaust system set up for the OE made engine and Emissions control ,which brings that into question, once you have changed the exhaust headers and cats, but who cares right, its only the 2nd most important investment other than your home, cheers :)

    • @SomervilleMetalWorks
      @SomervilleMetalWorks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      7071t6 does any of that have a point or you just rambling crap?

    • @7071t6
      @7071t6 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both, but the main point is this 409 stainless steel does rust, which is the point of using stainless right so your headers and exhaust system will rust over time and go brown due to the chemical reaction with heat right, ( most people understand that stainless steel does not RUST).
      Wow i am buying stainless steel with the understanding that it will outlast mild steel headers which a factory with a heat shield and now i am replacing my headers with 409 stainless and no heat shield, which i have to pay extra for and no price is even given via the PACEMAKER web page, like come on people, think about it a company offers great products on the premise they dont ask important questions and hope you just buy them and the aftermarket fitting exhaust places hope you dont ask the right questions as well, thats the point champ ok, cheers :)
      I am hopeful that pacemaker marketing managers and E marketing step it up and provide the right information to the exhaust fitting places,so that when a potential clients walks through the door, the chances of that client picking pacemaker headers or exhaust products will be 90% instead of all the BS and confusion which clients face when looking to upgrade the exhaust system and costs v's performance?
      Like having your car tuned out there and aftermarket performance products, those companies which invest in R & D and the future and i dont mean making sure your making the OE headers for various companies, even through they have strict tolerances and extra's like the factory heat shield which are on most holdens and fords factory headers, when you think about it why not have the same bolt welded to the headers they have you can take of the factory heat shield and put it back on the new Pacemaker try y's or 4 into 1 long tube headers ? ? Like they say its the little things that make a big difference ok. cheers have a good night. :)

    Well stainless steel doesn't go brown at all, so basically it polish mild steel which is why it goes brown or rusty look, lol :) If stainless went brown then every boat out there with stainless on it would go brown right or X force stainless tell header going brown right, it does not matter if its polished or not ?

    • @DoriTime
      @DoriTime 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You need to calm yourself down...
      This Stainless they use is 409 Grade, It goes a tinge of orange brown (KingBrown).
      409 grade stainless Carbon based (Magnetic) and is Exhaust specific.
      Boats use 316 Marine Grade, Which is not the best grade for exhaust is prone for cracking.
      X-force are using a 200 grade or 304 grade for there there headers and systems. This also not the best grade as they can shrink and grow. They also have a high cracking rate.
      Look at any X-force system on the VE Commodore, are the tips symmetrical. Highly doubt it.
      I use and supply Hurricane, Pacemaker and X-force. My Choice is Hurricane and Pacemaker any day of the week unless a customer is after a cheaper product.

      Well like i said stainless steel, sure there's so many grades its not funny, thanks for the update, cheers, sorry going through a bad time right now, just venting thats all cheers, also used to steel aerospace metals and welding supplies for a living and without going to the bible and not knowing which grade of stainless steel, then i might change about the browning of 409 grade stainless steel. cheers :)

      Well like i mentioned before re: Welding, check this out ?
      Welding
      Grade 409 steels must be pre-heated to temperatures of 150 to 260°C before welding. Although grade 430 and 409 filler rods or electrodes can be used during welding of grade 409 steels, grade 309 electrodes or filler rods are strongly recommended by AS 1554.6. Care should be taken to weld grade 409 steels with minimum heat, in order to mitigate grain growth. So do they use the right filler welding rods or wire after all i cant see them heating all the piping before welding to increase the lessen the gain growth due to heat expansion ?

      707, marine stainless, eg 317 grade, has no iron content, and whilst it doesnt rust, it is brittle. Bling mate, bling.

    Basically pacemaker headers do not have a heat coating at all, as soon as you start your engine within a week they go to the noral rusty look, lol :) just invest in real heat shielding paint and you will sell more headers even better offer ceramic heat coating as part of the header packages, instead of clientele going elsewhere, really think about the future and not just making the same old things for your girl ? ? 50 years only because gine has not stepped up their game and others like X force using stainless which you can see the welds and how the temperature changing in the weld has made the light blue coloring at the welding seams ? Look at DPE suing just stainless and i know Darren and the factory set up trust me, they could 1/2 the rpice of the products and pacemaker will be in real trouble ?

      7071t6 they do ceramic coating 🤣🤣 everyone knows that, if you know the basics about cars that is

    • @7071t6
      @7071t6 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well when i rang, they said nope the heat paint is not real heat paint ? WOW yet no ceramic coating, maybe in the last year they started doing it i dont know, but i dont think they do it,they have someone else do it as a option which is maybe the ceramic coating company based in melbourne, who knows till the say it on the web page ceramic coating outsourced etc. by so and so ?, cheers :)

    • @7071t6
      @7071t6 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also know a fair bit about cars, just that most companies do not tell you what grade of steel or stainless and or which type of ceramic coating is used etc etc. cheers :) Also only going off what the rep on the phone told me thats all, which they at that time did not have any Headers which fit to OE fitment to VF 6lt l77 and the LSA and the VE is different as well and no euro cats as well, all aftermarket stuff you have by extra as part of the 4 into 1 long tube headers from pacemaker. cheers :)

    • @nordic5490
      @nordic5490 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      7071, why do you need stainless ? SS is more brittle and prone to cracking, and is essentially expensive bling for the average weekend car. Mild steel works fine for oem.

    • @7071t6
      @7071t6 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree 100 %, just that while working selling aerospace metals, found out a lot of contacts were offered to use titanium for exhaust systems for some of the OEM manufacturers, and a few companies i dealt with were putting in the tenders and it was a little more expensive, bu due to most of the manufacturers had to change a lot of the machines used and traini9ng involved, it was not worth it, but those companies that start to think more forward and invest in to the future are the companies which get large contracts with holden/ ford toyota etc, cheers :) have a good night. :)
