Two multi week overland trips last summer.. after three weeks in the SW deserts and Mexico, the Yeti just didn’t cut it’ wet food and many ice stops. First thing I did when I got home was buy a dual zone IceCo, put it in the back of my 4Runner on drawer slides and had to add an extra battery with redarc system. Yes, it was expensive, but when I went back on the road for a six week cross-country trip I was SO GLAD I had the dual zone fridge :). 100% Fridge Girl.

Oh yeah! Once you get a fridge....there's no going back. Sounds like you've had some amazing trips. Baja Mexico is on our bucket list, is that where you went in Mexico??

I have to ask. What kind of career do you have that you can take off that much?

Hey loved your video, and looking to buy a fridge soon. Just wanted to say that the charging issue is because a cigarette plug converts the electricity to a much lower 5v /10amp, then the jackery has to store the power and convert it to 12v again. vs a car battery being 12v and most alternators push up to 120 amps. Recharging a dead battery in about 10 minutes. You can also buy higher amp alternator, especially for big vehicles like that. Not a professional mechanic but thought you would like to know

Sorry I'm a little late to this video but I just heard a great hack. Making your fridge a freezer and freeze small bottles and keep your food Frozen in there. Then you need to you have a small regular cooler that you have frozen water bottles in to keep it cold and as they thaw out you just trade them out of the freezer. The small cooler just holds your food for the day to thaw and any fresh fruit or vegetables. You could probably store it right on top of the fridge and strap it down.

I’m 54 .. my experience over the years, buy the 120v/12dc Fridge. Coolers are fine for a couple days but everything gets soaking wet with ice. Fridge #1 choice … (edit).. i own a yeti cooler as shown and a dometic electric .. 👍

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that. If someone is ONLY going out on one night trips....a fridge might not be worth the investment. But once you start stacking days, a fridge becomes a REAL nice thing to have!

I like drinks in a cooler and food in a fridge. Also redundancy.

That's a really good solution. If we had a bit more space, I think we would do the same. Often times the fridge is FULLY loaded with food on longer trips, so there's not much room to add drinks. A cooler would be a nice compliment!

I have a JP40 and love it! I lost some of the hardware to install the handles do you happen to know what size/thread pitch of the screws?

I'm afraid I dont, but in my experience, Iceco has pretty good customer service. I imagine if you reach out they'll have you covered

Ziploc bags are a great tip for keeping things from becoming soggy! We did the same thing when we were rockin' the cooler.
