- Muggs' rich Uncle Pete is coming to visit. Unfortunately, Muggs' late father had bragged that he had seven kids, so Muggs recruits the members of the gang to pose as his family--including Glimpy as his sister, "Annabelle." Things turn sour, however, when a local mobster finds out about Muggs' deception and threatens to expose it.

My Dad and I used to watch these movies on Saturdays back in the early 60's.
Looked up Leo’s bio and found the store owner that threw out two of the boys was his dad. Most of the boys, ha, were in their twenties and married.
Correct. That was Bernard Gorcey who was David and Leo's father. He played Louie Dombrowski in the Bowery Boys movies, the owner of Louie's sweet shop. When Leo was 22 he married 15 year old Kay Mavis, a dancer who appeared in some of their movies. They divorced and she married Groucho Marx.

@@anndandy9 Back then, that wasn't uncommon. They may have thought her to be young but not out of the ordinary. My grandmother married my grandfather when she was 16 and he was 24. They stayed married until he passed away. That's just how they did things back then.
I noticed usually when the whole gang stood together on screen that Bobby Jordan and Sammy Robinson usually were standing side by side if they had few speaking lines. I read somewhere that they were friends off screen. Which considering racism in films/TV back then must have been rare? One thing about The Dead End/ East Side/ Bowery Boys franchise they had a minority character as a regular to their cast.

Who was the little colored boy again?
The colored boy was Sammy Morrison. He was a child actor on the Hal Roach lot in the early Our Gang silent comedies and was known as Sunshine Sammy. I heard he made a big salary, which was unusual for a child then but especially for a black child. I think Hal Roach wanted to star him in his own series, but theaters in the south refused to play them.
