Yes, just managed to file it in time! I've now added the box numbers to my accounts spreadsheet and referenced the amounts so it will be much easier next time :)
Sorry about the looooong delay in replying, hope you managed to get to the bottom of it. If not, the finer details are here: www.gov.uk/government/publications/vat-notice-70012-filling-in-your-vat-return/vat-notice-70012-filling-in-your-vat-return#section3

The deadlines for VAT payments done each quarter are the the 7th of the month following the period end. For example, quarter 1 (Jan, Feb, March) would need to be paid by 7th May. Past, previous periods should already have been submit and paid. Adjustments for correction of errors can be submit. Hope this helps.
Hi this is a great video, just a quick question what if i am doing a work placement and they have asked me to prepare a VAT return for 4 Quarters for a companies accounts in 2013, how would i go about this? Would I not need to have access to the companies VAT number as well as details on HMRC website and secondly the companies accounts are from 2013 would this not pose a problem for? Could you please help me. Thanks.
Hi Ahmad, you would indeed need their full details in order to do this however as it's so far in the past it clearly isn't a real return they're asking you to do otherwise the Inland Revenue would have been taking action against them for not doing their returns on time! It appears that they are asking you to see how you tackle the challenge. The same theories apply for paying VAT that you've charged out on sales and reclaiming VAT you've paid on purchases. Good luck.
Very nice presentation, calm, no fuss, step by step way, how to do a VAT return. Thank you.
