I've owned 2 fn2s and now an ep3. I agree the fn2 is a better daily/all rounder but once you mod the 2 cars, only then you begin to understand why the ep is such an amazing car. Is the ep for me. Going for 4 years now and not a single day goes by where I get bored in it. Great review though gents👏👌
I owned a fn2 4 years ago. Sold it for a subaru brz because i thought i NEEDED rwd. But in fact it doesn't matter because i ain't a drifter😅 really miss the fn2. Thinking about getting a newer civic like the fk7 as a daily driver.

Both great, I used to be an EP3 fan boy and loved my EP3, always believed fn2's wernt worth a punt. However I recently got offered a deal on a champ white FN2 and it has really surprised me! Don't like the dash it's too big and too much going on. But other than that it's amazing! Mapped to 223hp with vtec coming in at 4k and the lsd I hate to say it but it would run rings around my old EP3

Got a fn a few months ago and was between the two having chose the fun I definitely ain’t disappointed or regret my choice plus it’s a 2010 so has the factory lsd which is a little extra bonus good review guys 👌🏻
Me personally, the fn2 owner seemed abit bias but yet again so am i😂 i personally like the ep3 more as it is lighter, looks better (in my opinion) and has an interesting interior with some cool qwerks and lovely seats
An actual honest comparison between these two cars. I actually own both EP3 and FN2 and unless you in the absolute limit I can't feel the performance difference. The ep3 is slightly better in corners but on a public road you hardly have time to notice.
Thus is the comment I've been searching for. I would get the fn2, it's newer and more refined. Question is..... Is the fn2 ride really that bad? Can it be improved with a set of coilivers? Thanks.

The great debate.. I have owned both. An 04 ep3 and i now own a 10 plate lsd equipped fn2. For me the fn2 is better. I agree its less exciting too vtec as its less of a change but its because it has slightly better torque before vtec so its less pronounced. I think the fn2 is more stable at speed in the wet and with the lsd its far less prone too understeer. Its not any where near as slow as people say either. Mine made 207bhp in stock form and its close gear ratios certainly make the most of it. Both are great cars and which you pick you will have fun enjoy and thats what matters.
I think the fn2 can't sometimes receive an unecesarily hard time when compared to the EP3. Despite what people may think there was actually a lot of refinements and improvements made on the fn2 that EP3 would benefited from. The steering is less numb, it had a flat floor and later models had the lsd. It's fairly clear that in a straight line the extra weight the fn carries doesn't really hold it back but I'm sure the weight balance isn't as idealistic as an EP3 when you hit the Twisties. For me, taking all into account it's close but I'd take the fn2 I think it's more things to more men and I'd actually say as time has gone on its aged extremely well. Good video bud. Keep it up

Had both. Ep3 was more for racing and apart from the leather seats was pretty basic. . Fn2 much more luxurious. Only had fn2 for 2 weeks tho so I'll wait for a bit to decide haha
I prefer the FN over the EP. Not a lot in it. But...as a pure drivers car the ek9 walks all over both. Good video though. Did the rolling start have the EP without the rear bench in it?
Ep3 clutch gets heavy when on the way out and the bite point goes lower and lower. Just had an exedy put in mine and its back to a mid pedal bite point,light pedal and the expected type r rapid easy gear shifts.
Both fantastic little cars but I’ve always preferred the rawness of the ep3. They handle better also on track in my opinion mainly down to the independent rear suspension of the ep3. Fn2 needed more improvement to be a worthy successor in my opinion
Definitely an ep3 issue. Those rear brake calipers always get locked. I have had to remove my ebrake brake cable on both of mine. The fn2 had 1 more hours than the ep3 r.
Thats a very good question, my thinking is a complete stock clean EP3. As most of them are modified in some way or being broken for parts etc.. more so than the FN2. Let me know what you think

Having owned both I can honestly say I’d not go back to the ep3 now that I own an fn2. It does everything the ep does but looks better and is a better daily, plus later ones have the lsd. I’d only move back to an ep if it was the jdm version.
It is really strange that nobody mentioned steering racks and gearbox difference. FN2 has quicker steering rack than EP3. Do not remember 100% but it was something 2.4 lock to lock on FN vs 2.7 on EP. Quicker rack + stiffer suspension therefore FN2 feels more agile at front end. Also gear ratios. FN2 have shorter ratios than EP3 and 5.1 final drive (same as JDM FD2) So if you not on the track pushing the limit the FN2 feels even more engaging for daily driving around town: qicker steering, stiffer suspension, shorter gearbox. Torsion beam rear suspension is not as bad as everyone EP3 owner thinking. And seats are also part of the expirience. FN2 seats are excellent compare to flat ones on EP3. Main EP3 benefit is less weight.
Looks id say fn2 but for everything else go with the ep3 due to the 100kg less weight advantage plus track ready suspension double struted and mechanical lsd set up that's kinda the whole point to be honest it's about performance first luxury a big second I like the fn2 no doubt I just find its trying to follow in a non-hardcore kinda vw path of which it's not but yeh ep3 gets my vote
Hi the ep3 is no long with us but the turning circles of both are very similar. The fn is now supercharged and we have another ep3 that is also supercharged we will try and do a test on these and get back to you but these results may not be as accurate due to modified suspension components

If the only negative is the turning circle you'll have some fun motoring. These are such a fun car on the right roads. Also not to fast that you need a private tun way to enjoy
I would get the FN. Why? Cos every EP3 will have been ragged to within an inch of its life for the last 15-20 years. At least with the FN2 you have a greater chance of it being owned by someone who is more about comfort and probably LESS LIKELY to have ragged it. I'm sure some of the owners were just casual drivers who wanted something sporty. Everyone who buys a EP3 is a gear head who buys it to rant. You could probably strip some weight out of the FN2 and the engine will probably be in better condition to boot.
Slightly different. The heads are different so are the oil pumps. Also the fn2 has a electronic throttle whereas the ep3 is a cable throttle there is other differences aswell. But the engines are similar
I hate the inside of EP3's, proper ugly and dated, I get having one for a track car over an FN2 but cant think of any other reason you'd want one. I've got a 2009 FN2 and people think it's a way newer car than it actually is hahaha
I'd love to do that but if I was to get rid of my supercharged ep3 I think I would try a different car altogether just something different and new venture

Maybe got a binding brake caliper on the ep3 when saying it slows done off throttle.

The EDM EP3 doesnt have a LSD (only the JDM one has it), while the Championship White FN2s and all the FN2s after March 2010 do.

It probably costs way more to get to 300bhp na though, you can get tdi basic charger kit for just over 3k.
