In a way yes it's shocking since it's a relatively new game. But it's not a 1st party Nintendo game, it's 3rd party game from SEGA that's on NS so Nintendo can decide which titles go on sell or not.

Same here usually sonic games don't go on sale that quickly I remember when sonic frontiers came out it was a good while before it started going on sale

I don't know about other games, but Sonic Frontiers did go on sale barely a month after it released. I know because that's when I bought it myself. It was around 40 bucks or so by 2022 Black Friday, and the game had released precisely on that November.

Yeah saw the low price for Sonic X Shadow last night thought it was funny since it just came out.
I don't have the money for it and if I did I wouldn't buy it, it's a remake of the Generations right? I've already beaten the 3DS version and I am satisfied with just that... Shadow is cool and all but I am not paying full price for it, it's not a Metroid game after all.

Sonic x Shadow Generations is just a remaster with a short game included. While it's newly released, it's not a big thing. Even Frontiers went on sale the same month it was released.
