Respect the job like you respect the drivetrain. Wearing the safety gear even when not required to construction and industrial sites shows respect to their facility. I called on construction sires for years and always got appreciation from the “bosses” for being prepared. Thanks for the videos.
I like your explanation of how you drive and work the throttle. I’m the same exact way with my Autocar. I hate jerking it around and making it bounce around. I think it’s much more impressive seeing an old school driver make the truck talk without being a savage. Keep up the good work bud.
I watch those same truck drag racing pulls. And like the torque stands that happened in those pulls bother you, your sweet feet on the throttle annoy the hell out of me. LOL. Everything else you do from driving to labor is spot-on! Great videos!
Just found you, Too many drivers run a manual like lifting weights!! Nice to see you bumping it out of gear and then finger tips into the next using the length of the fingers like springs to prevent forcing it unlike that guy using the bulging biceps and blaming the grind on the gearbox!!, I'm starting my 51st year driving and just subscribed to your channel, that says a lot!! Good luck!!!
I aint never tought your driving was weird i tought this was how all truckers drove my dad used to drive the same… i really enjoy your videos by the way
I'm not sure who taught you. I may have missed it if you said. All i can say is my father taught me. I have been in, on and drove A LOT of trucks in my life. If close my eyes and listen to you drive, It makes me feel like i am 6 years old and riding shotgun with my pops again. Between the ages of 4 and 14, i couldn't even guess how many miles i rode with him. It only stopped at 14 because he put me behind the wheel when i wasn't in school. I quit driving in 2004 and moved to the office. Thank you for the ride to remember my pops by. Keep the great content coming.
I give You a Thumbs up for driving in Ny, I took a load years ago to Hunts Point , and vowed never to go back again , and never did ,that was 35 Yrs ago !!
I Loved the movie CONVOY too! Never thought about the expression he used. But i think thats Exactly what he meant! Mad respect for wanting to be easy on equipment. My Dad taught me the same thing on heavy equipment. Keep it between the ditches!
Dude I'm so glad to read that comment! That makes everything worth it! Thank you for that I really appreciate it and I'm glad you were taught the same way! I love it. You do the same driver!
Thank you! I dont drive a truck but love trucks! You do a great job driving through those streets. I appreciate all the truckers out there who keep this country going. So Keep the bugs off glass and bears off your tail!!
Get a cowboy hat hard hat for when you need a lid. Great video as always. Also on another video you talked about guys driving in flip flops and sweat pants. But you don’t want to wear a hard hat and a vest on a job site. Same exact thing big dog. Better believe if you’re on my site I’m gonna be telling you to get back in the truck until you’re dressed or come back when you’re prepared. Not detracting from your video I’m just saying it’s more than appearance it’s a safety thing just like trucking in flip flops
I greatly appreciate that and I understand 100% but my argument is if there's nothing going on overhead the hard hat isn't a necessity. When there's things that could potentially land on my head I want to where the hard hat. But when safety guys just love breaking balls is when it's frustrating. But I totally agree with you and I think you are right. And It would be an honor to come on your job!
My uncle drove his R model Mack the exact same way that you drive your ford (popping 5:21). And I always wondered why he was the only one I ever seen/hear drive like that and I always thought it sounded great. Good explanation and Great video
I am glad that you addressed the importance of how you use the throttle in relationship to shifting to get a smooth shift. I see young drivers when I’m training them at work, who understand the theory of float shifting but when it comes to practice, haven’t quite got the relationship between using the throttle and making a smooth shift. When they start figuring it out, do you see how much they improve and how much a better driver they become.
I love that ford semi you drive that's one of my favorite style trucks. Truck looks great and videos have been great, I just found this channel the other day. Keep up the great work 👍
In the truck I drive the throttle is so sensitive I have to put the side of my foot up against the housing going to the floor or it wants to pull a wheelie unless it’s loaded. T800 x15 Cummins no DEF duel exhaust and a fulling unhinged beast. I love her but don’t try and rush her unloaded she’ll make ya look foolish😆😆
i don't know if you only explained how you drive because someone said something or not but you drive that truck good, you drive it the way that you want to drive it. i'm a diesel mechanic so i only drive the trucks around the yard and i can tell you the trucks that you showed in your companies fleet are built a lot tougher than the one's that are built today so unless you are grinding gears you will not hurt that truck. i see a lot of the truck at my company get in bad shape because we have some drivers that think it's not there truck so they do not care if the way they drive them breaks them and that pisses me off but what can i do but fix them. but enough of me rambling on, i like this channel so keep up the good work.

So in these rigs do you only have to push the clutch in when stopping and first going? Then once you get rolling you can shift through the gears without applying it?
Yes, you can shift/float through the gears without a clutch. Big trucks don't have synchronized transmissions like cars so you can do that. But I know the newer trucks may not be as easy and could even be built to where it's not possible. I don't know too much of the new stuff
