Yes, it is possible to sell them, but it takes some time. My approach is to always list the maximum stack in the auction house. If there are any Lightstones left over, I exchange them for Magical Lightstone Crystals. These can be used for various purposes, such as crafting Dehkia Lanterns or creating new purified lightstones.
