Wow! I thought Autumn was harvest time for sweet potato. Mine have only got a few measly leaves right now. I prefer the orange ones, but I am impressed you can get a harvest so early. It looks like the storm didn't do too much damage unless this was filmed earlier. Nice video Marty and Shirly.
Yes, Sherly is from Bohol. We have a wonderful Pinay community here were we live. I also do my best to grow food that she likes in our garden that she would eat from her home. Welcome to our channel!
Been bingeing your channel. Head is spinning with facts and figures and thoughts. I have two garden beds and two spaces I can put pots. I just need to work out where I can put what. I also want to try the crisis victory garden!
Im trying to get my hands on some affordable spoilt hay/straw bales. They are EXPENSIVE down here. How do you start your sweet potatoes? I want to grow orange ones, but the ones from the shops always rot rather than grow
Marty I had great success growing potatoes in black rubble bags this year just wondering if this could work for you with sweet potatoes and plant the slips all around , loads of grow area in a small spot
I like to cook the leaves in a little butter and then crack an egg on top sprinkled with a little cheese for breakfast.
Oh wow, now that's something I need to try. Thanks so much for sharing with us!

The front yard wasn’t a hit as hard luckily. Ended up not being as bad as we initially thought. Got a lot more cleaned up today
Stir fried leaves of sweet potato is great.
So good!
Was doing the same thing pulling up my purple sweet potato this morning
It's awesome when it's harvest time, yes? Fresh food

Start slow and expand out as you grow is my advice. This way you always get good results. Victory garden is a great start for sure!
Quick cleanup
Yes, the major stuff. With some help from the family we were able to make it look cleaner. Fidly bits will be done today.
Smart worms prefer eating potato than dirt!
They eat the bale material as it breaks down and old roots, while moving in and out of the compost pile.

Hunt down mulch if it’s cheaper and try it that way

Rubble bags, we are looking at growing spuds soon. Good option to consider. Thanks so much for sharing!

Marty,d
Do you use grass bales or sugarcane bales?
Thanks
I use grass these days as that's what is available close by. I do like sugarcane
@@martysgarden would SWEET potatoes prefer sweet sugar cane bales rather than grass bales?
@@servantofgod5642 No difference I would say
@@martysgarden I think grass is cheaper than sugar cane mulch up here in qld.
@@PhamsEdibleGarden just go with whatever is cheapest.
Hahahah small World. From there too.
Wow, really hehehe. Sherly comes from Batuan near the chocolate hills.
