As a young fisherman back in the 60s, if I manage to catch a pike about about 6 pounds mum would use it to make a starter for Sunday lunch, she was feeding a family of eight and the odd pike serenely helped. But one word of warning they do have quite a lot of bones. Enjoy.
Thank you for reminding,I was trying to forget about the problems of the world just for a little while, I watch programmes like this to remind my self of happier times, so please in future keep your thoughts to yourself.
Not really a fan of Pike personally, I fished it in Finland at a lake cottage. I found it has an unpleasant scent from the slime on the outside of its scales and you can taste it in the meat.
Hugh owned the cottage. It was managed and looked after by him, later a small team was employed as the "River Cottage" brand established. With help of funding from Channel 4. At no point did he ever claim to live there. It was considered a holiday home before sale in the 2000's and the full commitment to the brand, cafes, kitchens and published recipes.

Isn't it funny how our tastes for telly change - when actually, the underlying wisdom doesn't. See too Jack Hargreaves.
Pike have nice white meat, but very boney. The french love eating them !
It's a TV show. It's not real but it's enjoyable. There are some real people there though. I wonder how those Ukrainians are doing.

You live in a dream world that most of us cannot ever attain. TV is all well and good but so false.
