Beautiful Five (5) Strand Dutch Braid Tutorial - How to DIY

- This 5 Strand Braid is one of my favorite braids. I’ve had a lot of requests for a tutorial on it - I hope this will help you learn it.
What's hard about this style is how you manage the strands. It’s a good idea to count the pieces as you go along and repeat “under and over” every time you start to braid from each side. The first many times may be a struggle, but hang in there - it's really worth the effort once you learn to master this technique.
If it's too hard for your arms, you can also create it as a half up style. Then, you just stop incorporating hair when you reach the top of your ears and braid down a few stitches.

Girls, why did I never seen braided hair in public.
The hardest part about this one is propably to be able to hold all 5 strands in the right order in your hand, without the hair getting tangled or loosened (yet). The braid looks stunning!

It can be done.Keep on practising,rest the arms sometimes and also concentrate and feel your way as it is behind you.

I got my hair done at the salon and she had me hold the 1 and 5 strands on each side as she did the braid, so YES, it certainly worked better having the extra hands. This stayed in for two weeks as I had a turban wrap to wear to bed, and it was worth getting it done, as I got so many compliments.

I wish there was a way to post pics of the trials of others with the braids. I just attempted this my first time and I think I did a pretty good job. Looks a little wonky but I think the more I do it the better it will get. Thank you for your awesome videos, they are keeping me from chopping my hair off. Lol. Keep em comin

i used to do the 5 strands braid on my hair but only beginning from the neck bcz i found it difficult when adding hair to it, but watching ur video was a miracle! i finally did it , and it was so quick and easy ;) thx

Thank you, Andriana. The Dutch Braid was the first braid I learned to do on myself - so you'll be fine if you keep practicing because that will make your arms stronger.

If you get confused by looking through the mirror, try to practice when you're relaxed e.g. watching TV, and visualize how you cross the strands and keep counting them, so you don't loose any on the way. Hope it makes sense... and helps :)
