Maaan it's beautiful, thank you. I am building still a central European city myself. Love that you post every now and then to give me some ideas... The only difference, I am working with only 1920 assets right now and still adding them slowly... I am currently at 19,5K citizens, probably going to reach a max 40K and I don't believe I am going to need more than 3K assets altogether. Does it get significantly leggier with more assets or would you say that adding population lowers the performance more? I kindly ask you for your advice on this since I am going through trouble getting all the household numbers right, in order not to overpopulate.
Glad I can inspire you! 1920s sounds amazing! Now as for your performance question, here is what I figured out and think should be correct: FPS in CS is mostly limited by CPU and by RAM. RAM: the more assets you use the more RAM you will use. I tested in this video and got to the conclusion that once you hit your limit it won't kill fps but the game will be and feel more laggy. th-cam.com/video/5HgMomH8Wvk/w-d-xo.html . Also if you have more citizens I also think this will increase RAM usage. CPU: More cims = more route and life calculations and thus more CPU use. I am also pretty sure that more assets, even if not placed and even if your RAM is not full, fps will still decrease because CPU has to keep track of storage access for all the assets. I am currently trying to reduce my assets a little to get some more fps. Maybe I will do another benchmark test like the linked video! Also if you want to show me and the community your 1920s city feel free to join my Discord!
@@erKrieger1 I really appreciate the answer, I remember I've seen your video on performance before actually. I think I came to similar conclusions about FPS. I know there is also smth about my version of the game that the 50K population significantly affects the performance so I am keeping it sparse. I can make some screenshots and join you there but you got me wrong, it is not 1920s city but rather exactly 1920 assets, hahaha. However, since it is European I am using some of the assets that might originate in the 20s. I am trying my hardest to make it functional in the sense of public transport, with no DLC as well. So I am really trying to make logical BRT lines to connect and service the metro and train stations. I believe in a week or so there will be enough done to actually have smth to show for. P.S.: I am still working with 18-50 FPS. Central station is the lowest while the outskirts push it quite high. And map corners can reach up to 60 or smth. Checking your video again reminded me I am quite lucky still, hahaha. Thank you and keep up the good work!
First time my daughter(1) was interested in a cities video
That is such an awesome compliment! Thanks!
Very nice build! I love the way you merge historic city tissue with modern enterprises.
Thank you! I think that is one of the key features of European cities.
I've just come across a lot of your videos and have been enjoying them. Please do some more!
Thank you so much! Really means a lot.
