    As a Thames barbel and chub angler ive not been on the river for nearly 3 months because of the floods.Really enjoyed watching your match fishing videos and its turning me in to a match angler because im fishing at least one open every week and mostly on the feeder for big bream on my local comercial. Even at nearly 60 years old and a very experienced big fish angler ive learnt loads.Thanks Jamie.

    These are some of the best videos I have seen. Tells you everything you need to know to tackle these kinds of venues. No superfluous chat.

    Good to watch. Seen quite a few fishing videos covering rivers in flood, but this is the first one for me covering a reservoir with risen levels. It's taught me that even with those conditions, fish can still be caught. Great stuff. Thank you.

    Another great video Jamie Along with a cracking net of winter fish. The moving of the feeder also has the benift of emptying any feed left in it & disturbs the bottom making a area of clouded water i think. Tight line & a full net.

      @@CatchFishingChannel just kidding, hope you don't mind. You motivated me to go fishing yesterday on a frosty - 4 C morning. Caught 2 carps and 9 carassius. I had a great time nonetheless 😄

      Nice one mate! How did you fish? Was it on the Method Andrei?

    • @andreim841
      @andreim841 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CatchFishingChannel yes sir, the method feeder is my favorite poison, I used special G green and pro feeder dark and 2 maggots (a white and a pinky) as hook bait on a size 16 hook. I feel like my groundbait choice was not the best taking into consideration the water temperature, and that I should of went with a more active cereal/wheaty mix... What's your take on this?
      Thank you.

    Dear friend. So nice to see a match angler returning to his roots. Lets be fair anyone can catch a carp from a tennis court size pond full of fish. This is proper fishing where people can learn proper fishing techniques. I raise my hat to you sir, well done.

    Hi Jamie great bid as usual but a question
    If you are casting to 35 mts right to the tip your feeder must drop in an arc towards you and at 6 seconds that must put at about 29 mts out.
    Good luck fishing for England sure you will do well.

    • @russellsmith1088
      @russellsmith1088 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thought this myself but thats way out,checked at similar distance & depth using reel turns & the feeder hits the bottom within 2m of cast length.

    • @CatchFishingChannel
      @CatchFishingChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point David mate. Yes the 'flattish' spot was between 25-35m so I made sure even with the arc it was still landing on the flat bit. It depends on the depth, some of the measurements I did a couple of years ago showed that the arc was 25cm for every 1m of depth mate.

    A really informative, enjoyable video, thank you.
    Being primarily a big fish angler I could never even begin to compete with match guys of your stamp but nonetheless, I have done a lot of fishing, often for big roach, on big reservoirs. Can I therefore please ask what you believe the benefits of using a long hook link on these type of waters is ( rivers are another matter!) - Unless fishing over weed or expecting bites on the drop what is the reasoning? I understand the undertow can possibly move a long link to make it flutter attractively but as you point out you are having to twitch the bait to get a take. Having studied the way roach feed on maggots do you not think the heavy feeder with a short 2 inch link more efficient on a firm bottom?
    Your thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

      @@CatchFishingChannel Like a lot of places Jamie we've had bad weather but not as bad as some. Water levels are up but so far ok. Not been out since December due to weather (wife says I'm getting old). When I did get out at start of February on our club water, fished an area with feeder that everyone has struggled with (in case I draw it in a match) had odd bites, frustrating as when I got bites I missed 6-8 and pulled out of two better fish at net but still managed 8lb plus of silvers, well pleased with end result.
      Got out again on Sunday fished same area but two pegs away. Was hard, 2hrs in before got 1st bite, swithed feeder sizes, tweeked groundbait and again missing bites when they came, eventually lengthened hooklength from 50cm to 100cm fishing single red maggot tipped with fluro pinkie never missed another bite, finished with 10 bite 10 fish for 5-6lb which was very good as everyone else on pond blanked.
      Bought a couple of bell feeders, will try then to see how they move when wanting to twitch a bait.
      Need to repeat on Sunday and finish in top three, think I'll have won our winter league with three rounds to go.

    Hi Jamie a very interesting video. I have never tried one of those bell feeders but I will be as I fish a couple of deep clay pits. I notice you are using one of those little Rode mics and am going to get one myself. The quality of the picture was excellent! Was that shot in 4K by any chance? But I still hate braid and don’t miss it as I use Nanoline for that sort of fishing. What about a helicopter type rig so that the bait ends up by the feeder? Thoroughly enjoyed that vide. Regards Bill

      Thanks again Bill! You don't miss a trick do ya ;) Yes mate I used a new camera for this video and the Rode wireless mic is good but be careful to make sure it's compatible with the camera your using first mate. I tried using it with the Canon G7X mkII vlogging camera but they weren't compatible. Thanks again for watching mate, hopefully I'll get to see you at the Stoneleigh show :)
