Fushigi Yuugi was the very first anime that I watched. I remember begging my mom to buy the cd for this. I rewatched this for a lot of times and cried when my cd no longer functioned. I was 11 that time and streaming from the internet wasn't really popular that time. I love it. I still love it! Now I'm going to rewatch this show! 😝
I feel you! It was twenty years ago when I went crazy over this anime. Seeing this again and watching the episodes again made my heart swell. Forever my favorite anime.
I still have the CD and still works. I still have my keepsakes like notebooks and unofficial merch. I even made a cross-stitch of Tamahome in a frame. This is also my first favorite anime. The good old memories.

They spoiled us a lot. 52 episodes, 3 OVAs, another 5 OVAs, then another 4 OVAs. There's even a parody episode where everyone is actually taping FY where Nakago attempted to rape Miaka scene. And then Nakago was actually a good actor then Tamahome and Miaka are bullying him lol. Then Character Songs! The voice actors and actresses recorded a ton for us. Then of course, the best ending where Tamahome and Miaka finally got married and had a son. But the book still exists! Tamahome was able to live with Miaka in the real world. Meaning they can still meet the celestial warriors. They gave us a lot especially the mangaka. She made Genbu Kaiden and Byakko Ibun. She's the best and I thanked her a lot. And how can I forget Satou Akemi! She's the all time singer for Fushigi Yuugi even in the OVA. And they made this ending song for the end of the anime quite long which is actually made it more emotional for me. That's why whenever I hear this song, even when I heard it the first time, I was like, so it's finally ending? But as I hear it years after, I'm always thankful this anime existed.
This is my favorite of all songs of Fushigi Yuugi. Full of love 🥰😊. And Fushigi Yuugi will be one of my favorite classic romance anime 😘 Also, Tamahome my first love in anime world.
That's not good enough for me. Not only did the 3rd OVA not advance any aspect of the story at all, but it actually ended with an event that took place before the 2nd OVA's ending! The second OVA ended showing Miaka with a child. But the third OVA ended with the child just being born. So not only did the OVA 3 fail to advance the story, I felt like it actually set me back a great deal.
You can only drag a story so much. IMO Miaka and everyones stories were basically concluded in the OVA 2. There was really no need for ANOTHER story. The only thing I liked about the 3rd OVA was you did get to see Miaka and Tamahome's (Taka) whatever his name is now wedding. LOL

@Chennaigirl123 I thought the OAV2 was pretty good and it did add to the story. It developed M & T's relationship further. The first and third OVA's were horrible
Fushigi Yugi Eikoden wasn't even written by Yuu Watase it was written by Megumi Nishizaki. Honestly the OVA 3 is I consider to be an indivual story on it's own and has no ties into the original series or the OVA 2.

The OVA 2 was not way off it picked up things that were in the manga that were left out of the TV series.

i think OVA 3 should just not be considered canon. I mean Miaka has a baby and all but that ova was just messed up and frustrating to watch.
