This is the vocal track from the multi-track master tape. Fascinating. The music track you hear softly in the background is leakage from the headphones Marvin was wearing in the vocal booth when he dubbed his lead vocal. You can even hear the music levels change during the segments that were "punched in". Don't know where these "a capella" tracks come from but, I'm always glad to hear them....thanks for posting!
True talent. I saw him in concert about 3wks before he died. I took hard; such a gifted person whose gift died along with him. Thank God we still have his music to keep him in our lives.
Wow...I'd never heard the acapella version and it gives me goose bumps. I am so thankful that he shared his gift with all of us and I feel so blessed by his songs.
He did this in 1 damn it take???? Bcuz of the various dynamics of this song it's a hard song to sing bcuz he goes from gospel head voice to a falsetto in the blink of an eye. Another notch to add to his legend
well, thinking about it, I doubt Marvin did this in just one take.. There's another acapella of "sexual healing", & the background vocals are in the recording (with overdubs of Marvin's voice & the other backup saying "heal me my darling").. I think this is just the studio's compiled vocal that the engineer would have mixed in with the music to prepare it for radio/vinyl..
@@HenryMusic255 that's right. This is a patched together and some one removed the instrumentals (or tried to remove them you can still hear them) in a software program...
@@TheOriginalEntz the music was not removed by software...... that is the real acapella track. The music your are hearing is Marvin's headphones instrumental music track bleeding into his mic.
Marvin Gaye's is the artist that I most identify with. I tried emulate his music earlier in my life. This brother was so sensual... His Music did provide sexual healing for many of us during lovemaking The first time I made love, "I want You" was playing on my cassette deck. His music helped me, and HEALED during some very trying times...... These songs are dedicated to Nicci. Girl you were my first love I think of you often....Thank You for allowing me in your life
These are the vocals that you hear in the original, full recording, here he is laying down the vocals to the music that's playing in his headphones. The sound engineer later combined them to make one of the most beautiful, sexy songs ever, "Let's Get It On." I'm pretty sure I conceived AT LEAST one of my three daughters to this song, lol.
Idk how this was done but it's clearly not acapella (you can hear instruments in background), I'm just happy I found bc it shows what a beautiful voice Marvin had, unfortunately, with auto tune and computers being used so often now a day, pure talent is hard to find...this is a gem, thnx
This and 8 other isolated vocal performances by Marvin (and 2 with Tammi Terrell) are on the fantastic DVD 'Marvin Gaye The Real Thing In Performance 1964 - 1981' from 2006 which has 16 full-length performances from American and European television appearances + interview segments from various TV shows + a concert filmed in Belgium 1981 + audio from a concert in Holland 1976 :) highly recommended!
Greatness captured a capella, truly the epitome of soul. All of these so-called "R&B" singers of today need to listen and study this, listen to the breath control, the inflection of words to emphasize the theme of the song, and the strength of the vocal, Auto-Tune won't get you close to this bruh, and that's why we'll be listening to Marvin Gaye music fifty years from now.
I remember the day he was killed by his father right down the street from my grandmothers house it was one of the most biggest sad day in my life he was indeed a very wonderful person to have as a close family friend we love you Marvin Gaye your music will always warm are hearts and souls may you rest in peace
Holy shit it's an honest Mr. Shakur, although to be honest, I never imagined you'd be a grammar nazi, I always thought of you as such an empowering figure, I guess it's true you can't really know celebrities through their work.
I don't understand how this works so well without the music to go with it. This man could've sung over a chainsaw and it'd would have given me goosebumps. It can't be explained, but then it doesn't need to be.
Pure, raw talent. Let's ask some of today's artists to give us a similar collage of their voices without any background singers, musicians, etc. I doubt that we would be able to get 4-5 at the most.
Truth of the matter is Marvin Gaye was a great genius even out of music 🎶🎧 he was very soulful and intelligent ❤2B giving us 💞🖤 his mind opinion by songs luv U Marvin ur the man ♂️♂️💪💟🇿🇦🇿🇦
Marvin was the sexiest crooner of all. Smokey was the ultimate Motown singer, writer, producer and he’s the reason Berry made it work. I loved Marvin but the cards were stacked against him to endure. His upbringing with a minister cross dressing father, a, his prolific drug use, his debts to the IRS, and finally to be killed at 40 by his father. Unimaginable. Some good bios on Marvin.
Everybody's always saying "So-and-so has the most beautiful voice ever..."
This man TRULY had THE most beautiful voice ever.
I can listen to just him singing without music. I’ve singing background for him. Keep singing Marvin!!I got u!

raw voice and talent. who today would DARE to do this?
I bow to you, Sir Marvin.
True talent. I saw him in concert about 3wks before he died. I took hard; such a gifted person whose gift died along with him. Thank God we still have his music to keep him in our lives.

@@seashley8931 Not back then, not so much.
Unbelievable voice!
Marvins voice moves me to tears. What a loss.
Wow...I'd never heard the acapella version and it gives me goose bumps. I am so thankful that he shared his gift with all of us and I feel so blessed by his songs.
What a range and instrument with his voice - MG voice was a perfect pitch orchestra
If this was the last thing I heard on this earth I'd die with a smile on the face
Marvin Gaye pours out his complete soul in a song. Amazing, really!

Flawless!
Even better w/o the music!
Who ever laid it down better than this?
+Man O'Neal no one...
Not a soul
He's on a small, epic list. Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, couple others. Just un-freaking-believable.
No one. And no one ever will.
