    The most interesting thing about this collection is the diversity of the covers: all White. You should buy another 18 copies of Metallica's black álbum so not to be accused of racist 😀😀😀

    i bought one for $20 at a record shop a few weeks ago. it’s numbered in the 2 millions and the prefix is No., but the “o.” is not elevated. does that mean it is not a first pressing?

    I have 4 copies of the 'White' album. One of them is kind of a grail. It is the 1978 UK white vinyl pressing.

    I recently found it at a used book store! It's the version that's printed on White vinyl, all photos and poster included and it sounds fantastic. I was super excited I found it, idk if $30 was a good or bad price but I don't regret it.

    I had pre-ordered by copy for the 1st day of release here in the UK, I still got a 5 digital number even thought the EMI pressing plant was only 3 miles away, I believe lower numbers went to the north of the UK..

    • @DimitrisDr3am
      @DimitrisDr3am 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Numbers were assigned to different pressing plants (at least in the USA) so the lowest number doesnt necessarily mean older print.

    I have a mint copy I bought when it came out. I was but a child, split the cost with my older brother. I purchased a Japanese pressing and a UK mono edition in the 70's. Most recently, I purchased the complete Beatles Box set, followed by the recent deluxe edition releases on vinyl and cd. They all sound different. So, it just dawned on me that it's 50 years since my first lp purchase (that same white album).

    Best album ever for me. Mind blowing stuff - despite being a messy masterpiece. I had the white vinyl version in 1979 when I was 14. Got warped in the sun. Can’t find in anywhere. Very content with the 2009 remixes in my 20 track playlist.

    Hello, I used to be a crate digger, still have my tables, I have not bought any for yeaaaars, sucks. I have a beatles white album 0002486 , low number im guessing more rare.... labeled as so, without any prefixes of A or No. just the number as stated, embossed white "The Beatles" on front and stamped with number. wih the pictures, and the poster i know i have it must be in another album somewhere. I dont have that many recored, about 2 crates,. i bought some beatles LPs off my friend years ago in the US, Los Angeles CA for a buck a piece along with the other Beatles studio era LPs. wanted to know about it if you could help, SWB0-1,2,3,4-101-j40/41 STEREO, is it worth anything over about 1-2 hundred bucks, which is what i found their value to be over 10 years ago and never considered selling. is it a crazy rarity, if its only worth 1 or 2 hundred i would rather keep but if its in thousands, i may consider selling, you seem to be into the vinyl more than i ever know, looking for some clarity on what i have if you have the time and knowledge to share, thanks and i want to be a crate digger again i miss that feeling.

    What does it mean if the serial number starts No. A?? I have one that is below 5000
    Says Japan 1st press red wax .. anyone know what red wax means? sorry new to this? lol

    • @yesno-ih3ny
      @yesno-ih3ny 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kate Wiebe in Japan red was a popular color to press on for some reason, but if you see (insert random color) wax its the color of the vinyl itself, and the a is just a prefix which I believe is just dependent on the plant, but if it’s below 5000 absolute score

    • @kevinfagan1968
      @kevinfagan1968 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Kate, the red vinyl that the Japanese used was called Everclean. It was designed to be the most antistatic material ever produced. Toshiba and Mazda developed it and it was used from 1959 to 1974, I think. They sound very good.

I had the 70’s white vinyl on Capitol and an early US stereo on Apple which I sold because they didn’t sound particularly good. I would like to get a UK stereo sometime.

    18 White Albums? Why not?! You're a beautiful man Don Cole. Ha ha. I haven't had a decent "White Album" for years and I finally scored one this month. It's an original Los Angeles pressing with serial number A 0345325. The records have some very light scratches but none are deep. Not only did it come with the portraits and the poster in near mint condition, but it also came with the original photo separator sheet which is usually missing!

    I have a question you might be able to help me with- why doesn’t my white album have a serial number? It has all the inserts, the records are fine, and the ‘Beatles’ title is embossed- but no number! Also, on record 1, side 2, there were three labels stacked on top of each other, so I had to peel two off! Anyone experienced this? Let me know!!!

  • @BartholomewCounty
    @BartholomewCounty 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    There are hundreds of different copies of each Beatles record. The 45 RPM singles are the most interesting, I think. they used different photographs in other countries. An example is there are about 760 different versions of The Beatles 'Rubber Soul'. When it comes to Beatles most people look for the first pressing in mono, but there are many other versions that are also very valuable. I have a later release of The White album where the vinyl is actually 'WHITE' instead of black, pretty cool. It isn't super-rare, but the value seems to be climbing just since I acquired it in 2005.

    Does anyone remember WHY the copies were numbered? ..... story is that The Beatles were planning on doing something special and those who bought a numbered copy were automatically entered in the drawing. Now,as to the legitimacy behind that, only Paul and Ringo may remember, but that was the story going around.

    I'm just as Bad on collecting the "White Album", But I've always been interested not in numbers but in sound. Regrettably, I do not possess the German Direct Metal Master, someone did download it on TH-cam, but has since been removed. I have the American Apple (bought in 1976), UK stereo, UK mono, 1983 black rainbow, The MFSL version, The 70's Japanese issue (my #1 favorite) and the 1987 Capitol/Apple (C1 0777-7-48443-1) which is my #2 favorite version. I like to remix the songs and put them in order when the artist recorded them. All the Beatles albums were meant to be in Mono with the exception of "Abbey Road" and that is why that is the best mixed stereo Beatles album. 2 countries did issue a mono version, Brazil was 1 & I forget what the other country was. Good Luck hunting, bad thing I am totally out of room for vinyl.

  • @vinylcity1599
    @vinylcity1599 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I only have the stereo 2012 reissue, I'll probably get the "mono" reissue and call it a day! Everyone should have at least two! The "stereo" and the "mono"! But I think you should have as many as you want! At least if one wears out , you have more! I like having both stereo and mono versions because they are truly different albums ! Both great!

    • @thedarkwizardroom
      @thedarkwizardroom 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only have one copy. Called an 800 number they gave to call on radio station back in I think early 2000s not sure however it got sent. A free copy! Holed in right top corner but mint US reissue stereo then. now ring wear on cover but still G-NM with the 4 photos and poster Capitol purple label. So it's the personal copy while would like original UK pressing, The US is next best for now and it is a fine play today.. So what ever number wouldn't make any difference for it It does only if you are in to selling the album. And I would say having imported one like the Russian or somewhere else may be ok to own but not sound as good. I know one would since in the internet age you want to know what could be different then or best sounding. Now the most interesting of the album would be to have the 2018 50th Anniversary Box Set bonus tracks of White album .As the Esher demos versions of songs of the album box set would be sweet to own for my turntable. I have heard online how good they are. My mind seem to recall use to have an older copy of the white album and it may have been on Apple not for sure but I have been with my collection of music since the mid 60s so yea I am of the baby boomer era. And finding out what's going on these days seems insane really.. Take care .

    Jesus dude, how much money do have? At least you're not wasting your money on drugs and alcohol (I hope). Plus, they will go up in price, so it's a good investment.

    I'm very impressed with your collection & passion! I only have one W. Album. I bought it in 73'. Number is 2043497. You may be interested in a book by Bruce Spizer. "The Beatles on Apple Records". It goes into serial numbers. How to tell if your U.S. copy was made in Fl. or Ca. A story about those numbers on the W. Album cover. Plus more neat stuff. Take care. Peace...

      The prices are going down, not up. As the baby boom dies off and their collections swamp the market, there's gonna be millions of those things flooding the market. It has already happened for Elvis records.
