- Last year I took a trip to Upstate New York to do some mountain biking in the Adirondack Mountains. The Barkeater Trail Alliance has done an incredible job putting together these mountain bike trails. I arrived armed with Specialized Stumpjumper and ready to have fun. After I finished riding the trails, I went and did some camping at Blueberry Hill. If you have any questions about these trails let me know!

Been living in the ADK for 30 years, it’s still my favorite place in the world.
Mountain biking still has room to grow in the ADK, in 1993 a ban on mountain bikes was implemented on most of the trails, but now there’s growing effort to expand access and build new trails.
Yes, it's an incredible place. Are you referring to the wilderness act? I understand that they are close to editing that part of the ban to allow non-motorized bikes and wheelchairs into wilderness areas. That would drastically change Mountain Biking in America for the better
Good Trails
I believe that may be it. I’m all for keeping the ADK forever wild and limiting development, but opening up more existing trails to mountain bikers will bring in another group of people similarly interested in maintaining the trails and volunteering towards protecting the land. The park is more wild & pristine than many national parks, with the added benefit of having small towns. Mtb would help shops and the local economies because the towns here love having sporting events.
That part of NY and across the lake into Vermont is the most beautiful country for any outdoor activity. LOVE this video.

So glad I found your channel, especially these upstate NY videos. I’ve been going to the Adirondacks my whole life doing hiking and boating, but now that I’ve started mountain biking I’m looking forward to visiting the trails this August.

Been there and done that, with the knuckle-busting. First time I hit a tree I bought a pair of Mechanix Gloves with reinforced knuckles and fingers. They save a lot of skin.

It's hard to believe it's in New York. But, there is actually a ton of big mountains and good trails in the area.

wicked man, I drove through New York last year and knew there was some good riding up in those hills. Did a bikepacking trip on Ontario last year and thinking this is worth the drive to give it a go this year.

I really hope they allow bikes in the Wilderness areas soon! The Adirondacks could be a world class riding destination!
@@GoodTrails It would be cool! The area is massive, last year I did the TATR bikebacking race and really enjoyed getting an idea of what the ADKs have to offer in terms of riding. That route is tons of gravel but some fun trails are mixed in as well. Keep riding!

Yes it is! Sadly, we haven't been allowed to go outside... Most of trails where I am at are still muddy right now anyway. And yeah, every trail network should have a free beer vending machine!

That was at the Blueberry trail system. It was off trail. The lean-to is probably a better spot to check out

Great watching your video while I pedal a stationary bike in Canadian COVID quarantine. I pedal hard when you’re going to hit a jump and it does weird things to my head when you fly. The audio and video are professionally done, amazing stabilization and no wind noise. Looks like you’re using a mirrorless camera bigger than a GoPro? I’ve been experimenting with a GoPro hero nine black, just hand held so far for hiking and rails to trail biking, but I will mount it probably on helmet or possibly the view you’re getting looks like chest mount?
Thanks! I have been experimenting with helmet mounts lately but do not like the look. I'm going to be switching back to a chest mounted gimbal set-up soon.
Also, I used to have a Sony a6500 as my mirrorless camera but it died an unfortunate death.

@@Projectnortheast agreed. We will get 1000 dollar tickets for being outdoors unless its essential. But, the trails are still muddy at the moment. On the positive side, the trails will likely remain in better condition throughout the muddy season this year

It was awesome! I just showed up. There are so many Lean-to's in the ADK that you don't really need to book. Most of them are not accessible by bike tho... I'm also looking forward to the next ride! Cheers!

You could ride anything from a hardtail to an enduro rig on these trails

Thanks! It's very rad! Apparently they move the machine every year to make it hard to find! Someone has alot of time on there hands and is using it for good!

Dude yes, the ADK is amazing. Otis MTN trails in Elizibethtown, Hardy Road near Whiteface, The Loggers trails in Lake Placid are the ones I have rode and liked.

That's my fault with your hand, I was already wondering why you'd ride any trail, let alone the one you're one, without gloves. I'd need a very different bike for that trail for sure 🙂

Yeah buddy! Every trail system should have free beer. I'm sure you have been to 3 stage in Collingwood, it"s not quite the same but you could stop at Creemore or Side Launch on the way over!
Ya was up to 3 stage on the weekend for a hike and back tomorrow with the family. Lol or I could just come home and have a beer down at the water lol . I’m about 20mins from 3 stage and the mountain! Sure hope blue opens I’m itching to shred.
I'm curious. Is there a camping etiquette? Where one feels obligated to have firewood ready for the next camper since you profited off of it? And is safety a major concern? From animals and humans alike?
The camping etiquette is pretty much the same as anywhere else. Always leave the site better than you found it. This site usually has a bunch of trash because teenagers drink there, so I try to pack it out. And as far as animals go, yes there are bears and typical east coast animals.

2:30 pinning a tree is a good reason to wear gloves, personally I'd rather sweat than bleed.
Personally, I dont feel the same amount of feedback from the bike while wearing gloves and I just don't Iike the way they feel
