    iRacing made an update. They no longer show "Too fast!" when you are in the pitlane. As a result, I got a 15-second stop & hold penalty.

  • @asdasjdasj1
    @asdasjdasj1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I think pit lane speed limit is enforced once the back end of your car passes the cones. A lot of people think it's enforced when the front of your car passes the cones.

  • @sideslick1024
    @sideslick1024 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Another thing you can do is the pits in many sequential gearbox cars is to rapidly shift between gears while still using the limiter.
    When you do this, you will actually go faster, and it's a lot safer than going completely without a limiter at all.

  • @8odycount
    @8odycount 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To be honest, iracing should fix that. I mean, where's the reason for having a pit limiter then? Sure this is faster but I don't like the way it is possible and it feels more like an exploit.

  • @_xndrzt
    @_xndrzt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    so basically you are telling all non-pros simracers like me how to exploit iracing loopholes to reach the level of pro simracers like you. that's an interesting lesson on how the so called "aliens" see the whole thing. I don't see many differences between this and a speedrunner exploiting a glitch in the game to gain time.
    but luckly, that is not how I intend simracing.

    • @MaxBenecke
      @MaxBenecke  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aleßandro It neither is a glitch nor a cheat. Don‘t use it if you are a simracer just to simulate. In the end, it‘s a game and with it comes esport. That‘s what we do and that‘s what most people care about - the competition. This is not a tutorial for Simracing, it‘s a tutorial for esport.

    • @overtheclock
      @overtheclock 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's abbusing the game. But the tolerances are important for "normal" people. In competition races everyone does this and all are equal again. So its ok.

    Hey Max, thanks for the tips! Could you please make a video on how to calculate fuel in the most exact way? I try to do some calculations and use some apps, but they are never good enough, and I always end the race with some extra liters. This is even worse when there is a track temperature variation during the race.

    Can the tolerance be different depending on the session? Was practicing for the endurance race @N'ring and didnt get any penalties for exceeding at entry or blinking the "slow-down" pop-up (61-63) But at the race got 2x penalties for both instances, so had do dial down on 1kmh (no blinking at 60-62) and brake sooner for the entry, almost reaching the limit while crossing the cones?

  • @Globespy

    Thanks Max - I"ve seen you do this during live races but haven't had a confidence to try this. But why not? I mean we practice and [try to] perfect every corner on the track, so why leave the pit stops out? What about the cars that don't have a clutch? Would be good to cover any tips you have on that?
    Will give this a try!

  • @sgdinis
    @sgdinis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good insight Max. It's those little details that add up and in the end will translate into one or two positions gained.
    And now regarding the actual pit strategy? In a short sprint 45m, do you ever change anything other than adding the minimum required fuel? Does the tire conditions degrade that much after 30m, that a tire change (4 wheels or only 2) would be adequate?

    Great video, be interesting to see your comments on what to do if your pit box is right near the start of the lane. So, you can drop in to 6th after your up to speed from the box, but judging when to drop back to first for the launch out of the lane can be tricky.
