Prague has a lot to offer because of its far-reaching and impressive city history as a once royal and imperial residence city. The historical centre of Prague is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. St Vitus Cathedral, the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square with Tyn Church, the astronomical clock, and the Town Hall are popular sights of the city. Since Prague suffered little damage during the Second World War, there are streets with houses built in the heyday of the Romanesque and Gothic periods. On the Malá Strana side of Prague Castle, on the other hand, later Renaissance and Baroque buildings are more strongly represented. Art Nouveau houses, cubist, and modern buildings as well as Wenceslas Square and the Neustadt Town Hall on Karlsplatz (or Charles Square) also fascinate visitors to Prague.
In addition, cultural institutions invite you to get to know Prague's most famous personalities better. It is worth visiting the Franz Kafka Museum or following in the footsteps of the painter Alfons Mucha and the once celebrated actress Sarah Bernhardt. The combination of history, architecture, craftsmanship and art is simply breathtaking!
