Well done Guy - and Dave. That's great teamwork - with Dave's encouragement and helpful advice [..you need a bigger pick...lol] and your energetic recovery on those two mighty fine pieces - a great video. I think that was Guy's camera - as the video and audio was excellent. Great viewing gents thanks for sharing. Cheers GL & HP Ian.
You take a handful out the scoop, check scoop, if positive, you throw the handful away.... Why don't you double check the handful again incase of another nugget?? I'm aware its unlikely, just thought it may be a good idea to not assume
the reason they arent check the dirt is because they pre-planted the nuggets they know exactly whats fuckin there because they put it there... they do this to convince your dumb asses the equipment works
When looking to enlarge the side face of a reasonably large hole, try not adopt a dig "up hill" position, as you're virtually trying dig up the tremendous weight of the ground above the pick. Stand to the other side, and strike down at the opposing side, whereby you can take a larger "bite", and let gravity assist with giving up more broken up clay in a shorter amount of time. I've found it works every time. Hope this tip helps. Hmm, dynamite's not bad too, but it tends to spread any Gold all over, which only increases the workload on detecting to recover it. HaHa, just kidding. Happy hunting. Great video, enjoyed watching. Thanks for sharing...
Thought I had better watch this one seen as how everyone else has in the world! Better late than never. Well done on these bits very cool. I wonder what the weight was?
i am in kenya ,i pick gold NUGGETS with hands in my back yard when it RAINS,,if i can access such a DETECTOR!,,,i think i can grab a FORTUNE!!!nice work there!
Am I wrong? I see this in other metal detecting videos too. When you guys are sifting the pile, after getting the nugget out of the hole, I see you divide the dirt in the scoop and wave either your hand or the scoop back over the coil. If it's a hit, you immediately throw away everything in the other hand! What if you chopped the nugget in two? Aren't you possibly losing some gold? Scan both hands each time? Also, if there is one nug' in the hole, wouldn't it be logical to search the immediate vicinity for its traveling companions? Just asking. Otherwise, WOO HOO! GOLD!
Question. When u are discarding the dirt out of your hand because the dirt in the spade is sounding. Should you not pass your hand over your machine before you throw the dirt that is in your hand? Is there a chance you could miss a second small nugget is what I'm getting at? I'm a complete novice, would the machine sound differently two small nuggets were centimetres or millimetres apart?
+Thai Breaker Christ, can't you find some better reason to accuse a person of being a moron other than the fact that he left 1[one] two letter word out of his question? What a douche.
Stating The_Obvious .... That had me dumbfounded at first. Then I just realized, they like to work with there hands (manual labor) and not with there mind, lol. This world is lacking on common sense these days.
Nice finds but please, please, PLEASE tell me you went back over the holes after you found your nuggets. He would pour some into his hand and check the scoop and toss the dirt in his hand without ever checking it first. Good way to throw away possible multiple targets.
Pinpointers are rarely of any use for gold nuggets - most nuggets are under a gram and using a pinpointer is actually a lot slower to locate the target or just doesn't work all in locating the nugget when in the hole. Can be useful with much larger nuggets (rare) with regards to avoiding some digging and damaging the gold with the pick. Coin / jewellery hunters in Australia almost always use pinpointers because they work great in that application.

You could be tossing gold away every time you use your hand like that. You should hold the stuff in your hand near the detector before you toss it. There could be gold in your hand AND in your scoop.
Have none of you guys ever heard of a pinpointer,??? It makes target recovery soooo much quicker, once you get used to using one you'll never detect without it again.

nice piece
Appreciate you feedback. Always a great feeling seeing that glint of yellow in the hole.
Man I would have dug up that entire area...it's gold nuggets everywhere
You're throwing away the dirt backwards. Always check what you toss as you might have more than 1 piece in the scoop..

It might be better if you pour some dirt in your hand and then scan your hand over the coil. This way you don't loose any nuggets.
+Kevin Mcgrath Kevin, thanks for your feedback mate, I check the hole after every find just in case.
super
You appear to be tossing the remaining dirt that you had in your hand without running it through the coil first.
He was too excited and hurry
Hi, I am from Iraq. Can I communicate with you because I find gold in the dust and I can not find it?
why the dirt looks so yellow?
I haven't seen Aussies use pin-pointers much. Is that pretty standard, or just the videos I've run into?
No they dont as they arent very bright

Get a longer handle for that grubber mate, and your methodology for sorting the dross from the gold is flawed, otherwise a good plug for the machine.
