Great video! This shows how easy it is to ensure that your ladder is set up safely. The method this guy uses to check the angle of the ladder has been around for years (I first learned this over 50 years ago as an apprentice painter) and it is fast, simple and above all safe! Ditto with the 'Keep your belt buckle within the ladder rails" Great vid mate!

What about if you have to step over the ladder at the top to get on a roof? May sound like a joke, but as a woman and a little bit top-heavy, you have lean back to clear the next rung. Looking for the safest ladder/method. Thanks.

I like the tip about the belt buckle. I have to powerwash the house. I am concerned about avoiding the tendency to over reach.

Ron, Nice video. The angle can be achieved accurately by using Angle Rite. Angle Rite is an extension ladder angle verification device by Safe T Climb in Acton, CA. 60% of ladder accidents are caused by improper angle.

How do you set the swingable leg cleats on concrete verses grass?

I cannot go on the roof of my one-story home because of vertigo issues. I can climb a ladder to a certain height but then get dizzy. Sure wish that there was a way to get over this fear. Any suggestions by anyone???

If you secure your ladder with a Safe T Climb, you would know that the ladder would not kick out or slide. That would give you peace of mind and hopefully help you with your vertigo. Hope this helps.

DON, thanks for your reply. I feel much more secure on stepladders than extension ladders for some reason. The Safe T Climb idea is a good one but not sure if that will help me with my vertigo issues of getting dizzy and falling off the ladder.

You're right. Safe T Climb may not help with the vertigo. It does make you feel much safer though. After it is installed, the ladder feels like a stairway instead of a ladder. It's solid! Good luck sir!

BRIAN, I appreciate your input. The fear for me comes from my mind telling me that I am having vertigo issues if I climb too high on a ladder. This is much more of a problem with extension ladders than stepladders. And when I start getting dizzy, I fear falling off the ladder. Interesting that you are now starting to have vertigo issues and I wonder what is causing that. I do not have any health issues that would cause me vertigo issues. I did see my ENT doctor last year about allergy issues and I will be seeing him again. I will have to mention this problem to him and see what he says. Years ago, I had fewer problems with vertigo issues and heights but since I am almost 64, I wonder if that has something to do with it. (FYI: In 2002, I climbed to the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge in Australia. Even though I was tethered to a cable, it still was a VERY high climb but I felt so relaxed and secure. But almost 15 years later, could I do this climb today??? I doubt it.)

DON, thanks for more good input. I will have to look into this product and yes, if I had a staircase to get to my roof, there would be NO issues! It just is a matter of HOW I get up on the roof which is the issue and if I feel secure or not doing it. If I feel secure, no problem but if I feel insecure and start getting dizzy, then I have a problem. I just wish that I could be like my elderly neighbor next door. She is in her 80's and has no problems climbing up on her roof, though her children do NOT like her doing that because of her age.

All helpful info but I need to know how to open it, extend it, set it. & close it back down again. I have a fear of it sliding down while climbing. It's happened.=/
Coincidentally my bf is a roofer & wont take the time to show me. arrg😒

Do not use the side rails to climb up or down with, use the inside rungs only...
