    All these Peels sessions deserve to be released on an album, but not just the music. John's intros and comments afterward should be included.

    The classic final, and best line up of Siouxsie and the Banshees, and this exact recording is the best thing they ever did. They never exceeded this precise moment. Everything about it is perfect. All four member rock groups are a combination of all members; take any one away, and everything breaks. On top of this, getting studio recording right was not easy. Here all the buttons were pushed, the balances perfect. England will never see the likes of this again.

      The original line-up of Suzie & The Banshees was:
      - Susan Banion (aka Suzie) on lead vocals;
      - Steve Spunk (stage name of Steve Severin) on bass;
      - Marco Pironi on guitar;
      - Sid Vicious (stage name of John Simon Ritchie) on drums;
      🌹💜🌹💜🌹💜🌹💜🌹
      The second line-up already with the band name Siouxsie and The Banshees was:
      - Siouxsie Sioux (the stage name of Susan Banion and an alias for her shortname Suzie) on lead vocals;
      - Steve Severin on bass;
      - John Mackay on guitar;
      - Kenny Morris on drums;
      🌹💜🌹💜🌹💜🌹💜🌹
      The third line-up of the Banshees was:
      - Siouxsie Sioux on lead vocals;
      - Steve Severin on bass;
      - John McGeogh on guitar;
      - Budgie on drums;

    The band's best period was was with JMcG......., or was it the McKay/Morris era? Well, it was both, as both were umatched by any other band at the time (and since?), and both were totally unique. You could say that the JMcG era wouldn't have happened if not for the existence of McK/M, but I have a feeling if both had lasted longer that the JMcG version of the band may have gone on to be more diverse and inventive - on the other hand the sounds created by the original line-up were fiercely frightening and exhilerating, and awe inspiring, and their impact and shock to the system was off the scale..... we'll never know who was 'better' (in fact, neither), so we'll just forever be eternally grateful for both! Also with gracious thanks to Bob Smith for stepping into massive shoes on both counts - his performance on Nocturne was out of this world in particular (this isn't someone trying to rewrite or recreate a history that never happened - it did happen, I was there as a witness!).

    With these three masterpieces - placebo effect, playground twist, and regal zone - Siouxsie
    vocalist- extraordinaire BLASTS PAST previous rock legends like Patti Smith, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice cooper, & Iggy Pop.
    Dark, soulful, fierce & uncompromising, Siouxsie ROCKS harder than no previous other. She's a BEAST!!

    I've read a few comments, on this and other Banshees John Peel sessions, 'of the poor quality of the recordings'. My initial reaction Is that the commentators are under 40. Because every one over that age knows that, in the UK at least, technology was very basic, and they used the best equipment and recording techniques of the times. Also stop being so ungrateful, these sessions FREE for you, so grow up, stop winging and show some appreciation! These recordings are pre-digital, HD etc ..

      To my mind most of the Peel sessions I've heard capture the sound of the bands better than their vinyl releases, which in many cases were over produced.

    The best band in the country along with the Ants in early 1979. Would have been interesting to see how this line up could have progressed in the early 80s

      I might add, that some elements sound fantastic. McKay's guitar is awesome. Bass is pretty good, Siouxsie's voice is ok, but the drums are just swampy and indistinct. This lineup was my favourite and McKay's playing stamped its influence on my guitar playing and musical sense for the rest of my life since.
