I remember hearing field of athenry saying to my self that it sounds similar to asonance song as I am a big fan of asonance. My Irish wife loved the Czech version.
A man was stolen some grain and was prisoned and will be sended to Australia as a prisoner. His wife with children must stay and she is singing a tedious song under the prison wall. Her man is replying her, that he wanted to change the relations between dominions and peasants. Tha ship to Australia is waiting... "It's hard to find words Let God give you love on the way to the far Australian shores." Thanks for greetings from Scotland, I love your melodies :)
Just to gently correct my friends from Czechia and maybe elsewhere, this is not a Scottish song, but an Irish one. It is about the infamous Potato Famine, that was stupidly and cruelly forced upon the people of Ireland. 😢😢 Shame to say it was the British government who did this.
