@ Boogiebagflipper Three years ago I ordered 2 helmets from Italy, a carbon fiber X-Lite 802RR and an Airoh GP500. I figured if they were good enough for J. Lorenzo and A. Dovisioso they would work just fine for fast street and canyon riding. Both of the helmets were made in Italy and since they are not DOT B.S. they are both crazy light and both are beautifully made. They have both been updated a bit but if you stay away from the replica versions the prices are still great. Alpinestars likes to price gouge to pay their sponsered riders big money. The fact that this new A-stars helmet is made in China is a no-go for me. Good luck.
Our first shipment of the R10's sold out overnight! If you didn't catch the first wave make sure to sign up for in-stock notifications. We have plenty more on order that should arrive shortly.
My R10 teams will be here Tuesday and can’t wait to test it. Gorgeous helmet. So far my helmets are a Shoei AGV and a Bell Race Star. My Shoei and Bell RS are my favorites both super comfortable and quiet. Was just not an AGV fan love the style but not a fan of the noise and it’s the one I have the most turbulence in. Can’t wait to try this helmet have a feeling it’s going to be my favorite.
@@rascoe2018R1I would say it’s on the tighter side. I have both size M and L (I normally wear a M) and the size L fits me more but I had to take the cheek pads from the M and move it over to the L size helmet (20mm vs 30mm).
After seeing the helmet several times, I find it a far cry from the X15. Don't get me wrong. It's very nice but the quality isn't nearly as close. I do prefer the safety rating over the Shoei's antiquated snell. I'd put it on par with the LS2 top of the line carbon helmet which is a great lid. However, one will cost much more 😂
scorpion has $400 to $500 FIM helmets. Does it mean it's better than a Shoei X15? I'm just not impressed with the QC on this helmet...and someone that wears a lot of Astars, that can be an issue many of times depending on where it's mfg!
@@keving5235 You are saying that the "quality is leaps and bounds better than the x15" because of FIM "just on that alone". Safety rating does not equate to "quality". It means they pass a certain standard. The shield, the molding add ons (vents), the visor closing mechanism, visor quality, interior, in side by side is superior on the X15 imo. I have had them both next to each other several times. It's not even close, again, that's my opinion from a side by side comparison. 25 years in the industry, riding for 40 and no affiliation with either. I mentioned the Scorpion and their FIM rating because that too has better quality side by side if FIM is a factor to you. If Alpinestars sticks to it...and stays with it, they will get it better. Comparing a 75 yo helmet manufacturer like Shoei to Astars first ever helmet shows me where they are at. Amazing first attempt. For $500 I'm on it...not double/triple, for a Chinese made helmet...but we're all allowed our choice of helmets, at least for now.
Damn bro I just bought an agv k6s for like 600$,but I bought it mainly for the weight,it comes in at 1350 grams in size large,I can't return it, I got it from Europe and already paid taxes on it,otherwise I'd have returned it for the Astars helmet,I already have a racing helmet though, but for streets and everyday riding I prefer the k6s over it tbh,sr10 is a nice helmet,I like the shield, rear spoiler and the fact that u can play with padding in the crown area!!
Excellent review. The one-year warranty is odd and concerning. Does it have any room to accommodate eyelasses? Or are our bespectacled riders out of luck with this one?
If you go by Alpinestars sizing chart, you should be in good shape. This is a race fit helmet, so it will be more snug than normal. We sell different size cheek pads to ensure a great fit.
@@SpeedAddictsTV excellent. I'm currently in the RF1400 and it's great. But it buffets like crazy at high speed so I'm looking to go to the X15 or R10 and I can't choese!
Hi , any suggestions on size would need ?? I take an XL in Arai rx7v and XL in Shoei NXR 2. Sizing would suggest an XL in Alpinestars too but any help would be appreciated as i can't as yet try one on.
I wear an XL but the crown pads that come in it are only 8-10mm so mine was ever so slightly loose but they make thicker crown pads for it that are 15mm to fix the issue. Apparently it's somewhat common cause when I called alpinestars that's immediately what they suggested. I'll edit if it fixes my issue.
We will look into that. There are tons of chin curtain install videos for other helmets online that can be very helpful in guiding you in the right direction.
I just ordered mine and does anyone know if they will sell the spoilers separately? The gloss black carbon version apparently does not include the race spoiler. I know the graphics versions sell separately but i cant find the just plain black race spoiler anywhere.
they have really weird sizing on this. I have size S head 55,5cm so should be 55 to 56 range. I could not get my head in and when I did I could not have longer than 30s as my forehead had no blood going to it at all. very tight. Had to send it back and get M which on paper is 57-58 (much bigger). Since then even alpinestar said on their webside that you may want to consider bigger one. M came in today and I feel like crown pad is not enough now. deffo need to order thicker pad.
I have the exact same issue as you. I'm usually an S, but it was way too tight. Went with M and the crown pad isnt enough and can put my hand through the front. Ordered a 15mm crown pad from their site, and they sent the wrong size lmao.
@@super1525please lmk if that fixes it!!! I just order 15mm crown pads for my xl cause the 8-10mm ones that are in it are ever so slightly loose. My head is 61-62mm
Completely unrelated but should I get a Dainese avro 4 Dainese super speed 4 Alpinestars GP Plus R V3 (And if Alpinestars which one the normal, airflow, or rideknit)

Pretty lame on alpinestars to opt to manufacture their first market entry FLAGSHIP “top tier” (you said it!) helmet in Chyna. What a shame.
