If you suffer from chronic pain/back pain, read 'The Way Out' by Alan Gordon. It's a funny easy read, but he has proven with clinical studies and MRI scans how the brain can accidentally generate pain and how to correct the crossed signals. An incredible book from 2021.

The list of the best books of the 21st century is evidently heavily biased toward the Anglosphere. In other words, it is essentially a selection of the 100 best books written in English and consumed predominantly in the United States. Out of the 100 authors listed, approximately 62 originate from English-speaking countries. The epitome of audacity in this regard is seeking the opinion of Stephen King rather than turning to competent literary experts, such as those associated with the Prix Goncourt. This approach is akin to considering McDonald’s an authority on haute cuisine-while it may appeal to popular tastes, it remains fast food of questionable quality. Ultimately, this list, to put it mildly, is entirely devoid of sophistication. For instance, it includes The Book Thief, which owes its fame primarily to an overly sentimental film adaptation, yet omits the true literary revelations of our era, such as Éric Vuillard or Olga Tokarczuk, to name just a few.

The amount of escapism in these lists is so disheartening! Too much fiction and not enough nonfiction!! Not enough science, history, comparative religion, diet, fitness, health, social science, interdisciplinary etc.

So many culture war books... Literature is politics now.

Books have always been political and will always be political. This is why they try to ban them and burn them.

TLDR(my guess) Take personal responsibility for your own situation, focus on what you can control, be optimistic & problem solve. Treat yourself & people around you as you would wish to be treated. Anything I missed?
