the shot at 8:43 was crazy intense and saturated -- had quite some dramatic quality -- interesting to realize once more how much one can change the general impression of a photo by these basic elements ! the light and color, the background of course -- and of course the pose and expression of the model and also clothes . Nice video -- very nice !
Do you know the name of the song in this video, or where I could get it? I absolutely love it! And love the dreaminess of the portrait at 7:23, as well as that bounced shot at 8:43! Well done!!
All my music are from Epdemic sound, which is a paid platform for online content. Unfortunately I don’t have the name of the songs coz I always use different songs for different videos… you can check out their website, and if you look in classic, peaceful music section, there are a lot similar songs…
Thank you so much for the fast reply Sam, I just found it! For anyone else wondering, the song/music is called "A Calm Early Morning" by Rikard From on Epidemic Sound I really love these simple, peaceful tracks on your vlogs - they mirror the calmness and poise that comes when shooting film@@itscapturedbysam
Nice video, Sam! I loved how you talked about trying to approach film photography with a fresh perspective, as if you had forgotten everything you previously knew about it, so you could make new mistakes and grow in new ways.
Shooting film also reminded me how much I don’t know about photography, and how much I learned long time ago but no longer remember about photography. It’s always good to learn and relearn things~ ☺️
My Canon 1V would be the most safe choice for the best picture quality 35mm wise~ but at the same time I want to bring something smaller and lighter with maybe just one lens… 🥹
Really great video and I REALLY enjoyed seeing how much you achieved using ambient and bounce light! Also, where did you find those “do no x-ray” pencil cases? Subscribed!
Hey Sam, lovely photos - I'm about to pick up the Pentax and the 75mm and hopefully use it next week :) Are you purely using the in body light meter and it's giving you these results?
YOOOO love the concept of the shoots !!! ,mind if I ask what's that holographic mask thingy the model was wearing? its so prettyyyyyyy, I tot it was done in some 3D software
It’s a piece of fabric I bought from craft store, I usually use it for adding foreground flare ( putting it in front of the lens ). The sun was harsh, the model couldn’t open her eyes, so we used it as a blind fold~ hahaha
I would say film definitely can look softer than digital, especially nowadays digital camera is getting better and better, new lenses can be really sharp!! I shoot most of my images wide open, because I like the dreamy and soft look, so for me it’s mostly aperture that dose the trick. It also comes down to the depth of field, the distance between your subject and background…
Perfect advice on color Negative. Use at 1/2 speed! Better color, finer grain, super look.
Thank you 🥰
What do you mean 1/2 speed please ? Would love to try this
@@Trinity11222 Meaning pull by 1 stop. Shoot a 400 speed film at 200 or a 200 speed film at 100 etc.
@@mkshffr4936 got you, thank you
Those shots at 8:56 are PHENOMENAL!!
I love those too!!
YES!@@itscapturedbysam
Yes - the pictures remind me of Raymond Meier’s work but with a greater sense of femininity.

Wonderful video! thanks for sharing and looking forward to more examples of Pentax 645NII and film stocks you use...
The styling is so fun! This shoot turned out so dreamy!
Thank you :)
Loved this shoot

how did i only just find this channel! love it!!
Great work, makes me want to load my pentax 645 with colour
Just discovered your channel today and am really enjoying your content!
Thank you, I'm glad to be discovered :)
great results! what lens are you using?
Fantastic stuff! Just shot my first roll of Gold at 100 and that's how I'll likely always shoot it at. The colors are very lovely.
I’ve shot it at 200 later, the color could look very different.. landscape and scenery 200 is nice, but for portrait I almost always shoot at 100 now~
Your photos turned out so great! Thanks for the shout out ☺️🫶🏽
I think I’ll try do more sunrise shoot after this lol~ 😂
@@itscapturedbysam the light is perfect but also places are empty.

I’ve always wanted a Pentax 645! Need to try it out!
Next time we meet up I’ll bring mine, you can check it out~ 🤓
NEW YORK!! Yay! Enjoy :D I loved your pictures, they were GREAT!
I would bring the EOS1 with wide, normal and tele covered.

amazing shots Sam! question when you over expose, do you let the lab know or develop as usual ? gorgeous work!
Really great video and I REALLY enjoyed seeing how much you achieved using ambient and bounce light! Also, where did you find those “do no x-ray” pencil cases? Subscribed!
It was gifted by a friend and I already asked him, it’s not for sale.. sorry 😅
Amazing results!
Thank you :)
Someone tell me what that thing covering the models eyes please
watching your videos really made me want to shoot film
Try it!! it's really fun!!
When you said you didn't want to be a film-only channel, I concluded you're going to buy some fancy lenses soon 😁
Buying films already drained my wallet really fast 🥹
Hey Sam, lovely photos - I'm about to pick up the Pentax and the 75mm and hopefully use it next week :) Are you purely using the in body light meter and it's giving you these results?
Yes, if the camera has an internal light meter, that’s what I use. I trust my Pentax light meter, it’s mostly pretty accurate..
@@itscapturedbysam that's great thank you - and you rated the film at ISO 120 with exposure comp at +1?
Poproszę o odpowiedź :) też jestem bardzo ciekaw. Iso 125 and +1? Taki zapis widać na filmie, drukowane przez aparat.

🫡 will do~
Hi. Did you use lightmeter at all
I mostly only use the internal light meter when using the Pentax645NII
@itscapturedbysam did you shot in auto mode or manual
Omg what area is this?!?!?
It’s in the San Clarita area?? I’m not sure, my friend sent me a pin back then.. 😂
by the way, i need your film bag, where did you get it🥳
是朋友送的哎~
How did you set up the exposure?
I set the ISO one stop lower, then just use the internal light meter to read exposure~
You are incredible
Do I spy Tim from Kodak or are my eyes deceiving me?
Also, which lens did you use for these? Love the shots! I struggle with my autofocus on my nii.
That is the one and only Tim from Kodak😀
@@itscapturedbysam hehe Love it! I met Tim at the Long Live Film Workshop this year. Great guy!
Oooh where’s that film bag from? (At 6:55)

@@itscapturedbysam oooh nice! A mass produced product like that needs to happen from Kodak!

@@itscapturedbysam ah you didn’t have to do that, thank you so much for asking! It’s a shame they don’t make it, it would be great for airports!
What lens do you use?
75mm FA
😜我越来越觉得6x6只适合拍风景,我现在开始喜欢把你的**秘密相机**拍出来的人像裁切成645或者67😫maybe time for me to buy a 645 camera
我反而觉得长方形更适合拍风景哎,我还挺喜欢6x6的人像的!!

A lot of your images where soft. Is that because of the film, camera, focus, lens, or shutter speed?
