- Please join the CSIS Alliances and American Leadership Program for a half-day conference on the possible future trajectory of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) on March 29th. Alliances Program Fellow Patrick Gerard Buchan will discuss the results of a survey of regional strategic elites on the future of the Quad with Senior Vice President for Asia Dr. Michael Green. An opening discussion on strategic challenges in the Indo-Pacific will frame two panel discussions with regional experts on opportunities for Quad collaboration on security and infrastructure development.

Quad is not seen positively by countries in the region...Quad countries can go fishing together in the Indian ocean but if any steps they take risk conflict in east asia or south east asia or south asia they will be walled off.

At 1:46 when Tetsuo (almost apologetically) states Japans move to de-emphasize the QUAD in an effort to improve Japan/China relations I instantly thought 'uh oh . . here we go, another administration willing to give up some of it's morals to appease China' but then he goes on to mention Taiwan as one party that should not be ignored. THIS IS BRILLIANT! More needs to be done to recognise Taiwan and the very unique and fragile situation it is in. Time is running out. Taiwans' President Tsai is nearing the end of her presidency and who knows what will happen in the next general election.
Taiwan deserves to be given respect, support and more. They've done nothing wrong to deserve what the CCP have in mind for them.
