I wish but all of them never officially left Japan. but yes its the VIZ dub the DIC dub of the Queen Beryl/Season 1 story REMOVED 4 Episodes from the Japanese dub and Japanese episodes 45 AND Episode 46 became a SINGLE episode number 40 on the DIC dub.
the VIZ Media dub will keep the 4 Japanese cut episodes intact while having Episode 45 be the one with the Sailor Scouts Death and Episode 46 being the one where Queen Beryl herself dies.
Sailor Moon haven't been broadcasted in Hungary on our TV since 1999. The very first mahou shoujo anime which was my starter kit of being so much into the genre. Yeah I miss my childhood.

Obviously Crystal and the books are different, but we really enjoy the 90s show! It was the first anime I ever watched! @@ochibawolf It was a bit disheartening when we started posting Sailor Moon vids and there would be people kind of hating on the dub. We didn't even know that was a thing and thought it was just maybe a few fringe people we came across, but now that you're tell us it's widespread, that's nuts! I thought they did such a good job avoiding the censorship and finding the heart of the show. Obviously the manga is different and Crystal is different, but for the continuity of that 90's version, we never thought the whole Dic-Cloverway-Shenanigans dub did it justice :( I think that dub could be good for introducing really young kids to the show, because there are some very dark themes throughout, but otherwise we prefer Viz so so much more! We hope to see you back around! Like I said, we both really like your channel too! We have been lurkers and haven't commented but we will have to!

It's about time, I'm so happy and excited that Sailor Moon is finally coming home to Cartoon Network & Toonami once again and this time it's going to be uncut and premiering from the Viz Media English Dub style!!!! YES!!!! Sailor Moon is my #1 favorite anime I always love and also the 1st anime that brought me into the world of Anime, this series made me so happy as it brought me so much joy and happiness just seeing it every morning and after school!!!! The storyline, characters, the development, the Sailor Guardians my #1 childhood heroes, everything made Sailor Moon so great and incredible!!!! I'm so glad and so blessed to be part of the Sailor Moon community and it's so great to have it back on the air!!! I hope it has successful run as they're staying true to the original anime now instead of DiC, this show is still one of the greatest Anime shows in the golden era!!!!! Let's go!!!! I also hope they get to show 2 episodes too, they deserve to have 2 episodes like DBZ same goes for Naruto.

I completely agree with this! When researching, I was surprised at how popular anime is in areas like Brazil and Mexico, just because I had no idea in the past. I'd like to even visit Brazil eventually! I hope they do broadcast there and expand this program!
I love that Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball are back on TV. I think the youth of today will love the shows like we did back in the day. Honestly, I would love if they let all five seasons of Sailor Moon play and they should show the movies on Cartoon Network like they used to do back in the 90s. Also, if they want to start showing Sailor Moon crystal? That would be cool too.
I got into Sailor Moon super early. I saw it on the USA Network in 97 and then on a local channel in 98. On my local channel, it aired once a week on Saturday. So this new Toonami block once a week thing brings back memories! I eventually got Cartoon Network and it started airing there a month later in 98. I was always super excited to watch it!!! I'm a guy and 36 and still love it!!
It took me about 6 years to finally get used to the new Viz dub and now I really like it!!! I feel like I've somehow finally matured to finally appreciate Viz for what it is. I didn't get into Dragon Ball Z until much later around 2008, but love it as well!! I got a Sling subscription just so I can watch Toonami Rewind and relive my childhood! I never saw Naruto but loving it too!
I added some other shows to my personal Toonami rotation along with the official shows airing that probably will never be on Toonami (Cardcaptor Sakura - Uncut latino dub, Glitter Force/PreCure, and Saint Seiya (new dub).

This is pretty cool that Sailor Moon and DBZ are returning to Toonami. I live, and grew up in Canada in the '90s, and we didn't have Cartoon Network here unless we had Satellite TV that picked up the closest American cable channels. We did have a channel called YTV though, and that was basically the hub for all things Anime here in Canada. DBZ was on YTV, but later in the evening, after Pokemon and Digimon. Sailor Moon played during the earlier afternoon block known as The Zone, or around 7 o'clock in the morning by the time S and SuperS began airing in the early 2000s. But, I loved it no matter what time of the day it was on. I also didn't have any friends who watched Sailor Moon until I was in high school, and by then, there were no new episodes airing, so we had nothing to talk about. Lol. But, sister, who is younger than I am, and I watched it every day. We kind of have Cartoon Network now, but it's not the way it is in the United States, so we don't have Toonami, and aren't getting Sailor Moon and DBZ back on Toonami.

4:02 Well Yesterday, surprisingly they did! They're probably aware that they have a lot of episodes, so they decided to change up the schedules.
As someone who grew with the DiC dub of Sailor Moon, it's great seeing the chance for the show to see a resurgence. I have seen Sailor Moon Crystal & the followup movies, & loved its retelling of this beloved series. The only reason I haven't sat down & watching the Viz Dub of the classic show, is that I just feel that it wouldn't stick like the old dub. Nothing against the new dub, I have have nostalgia for the old dub. Plus, I can't be the only longtime classic fan who still calls Chibi Moon, Rini, out of habit from the old dub.

Another win for magical girl fans like me! It's exciting to know that my favorite anime of all time is returning to television in its original, uncensored form. And if all goes to plan, then this will be the first time that Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars will EVER air on TV. It makes me wonder if other magical girl anime like Cardcaptor Sakura, the PreCure series, Magic Knight Rayearth, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Tokyo Mew Mew, Shugo Chara, Princess Tutu or shoujo anime like Lucky Star, Nichijou, Komi Can't Communicate, Hidamari Sketch, Azumanga Daioh will eventually air on TV either again or for the first time...
It would take the channel being healthier for them to get that far. But since Kellner's hackjob of Cardcaptor Sakura for kidsWB is what really poisoned the well for magical girl stuff in the USA, i would think it should have dibs on a shot at being apart of the second try. Though i worry it might be too much for 2020s era BS&P to want to tackle to get the Animax dub on tv.
Magic Knight Rayearth was in consideration to air but it got screwed over because the execs wanted it to be too censored, so the talks ended.

Do you folks think it'll be the Japanese version with English subtitles? Upon coming across the original Japan dubbed version in 2009, the original actors really brought out the raw emotions & feels into how the characters alone should be portrayed as in the series.

@@ALittleSnowFairySaga Thanks. The reason I was asking was because back in 2013 Toonami aired the season 5 opening of ONE PIECE in Japanese. That's why I speculated they'd release the Japanese version of Sailor Moon with English subtitles.
Getting subs on regular american tv has always been a challenge. There have been attempts but in general expect a dub unless otherwise advertised.
They are trying to air a show made in a foreign language in the Adult Swim block with subs. But i think that's more an intentional comedy with the subs. But it's a way to experiment with the concept.

I grew up watching Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon on toonami back in 2001. I'm glad that Sailor Moon viz dub and Dragon Ball Z Kai are on adultswim. They are more accurate and uncut. I didn't get into Naruto until I saw it on adultswim.
This is cool. One small correction though. Sailor Moon S and Super S weren't dubbed by DIC (not counting the movies). They were done by Cloverway. They actually got away with a little more stuff than DIC could.

That was only the last two seasons, which were translated by Cloverway. The Dic Dib aired at 6:30 am. Monday thru Friday on Fox.

Yeah we are really hoping that they continue to expand the Toonami block, because Cartoon Network apparently makes a lot of their money off of the shows aimed at older audiences and advertising during those blocks. It seems like fewer and fewer younger children are watching broadcast TV and it would be the perfect time to expand Toonami and sort of transition that network into more of a young-adult anime channel, but who knows what they will do, especially after the WB and Discovery merger where the company is always cutting costs.
Toonami is currently airing 2 epa per week. Will get done in like less than 2 years at this point

This is the kind of move that people should be applauding and supporting so they actually get to afford to do more The internet animation community has long chose to fuel division and revisionist history instead of fighting for animation as a whole. Support the people actually fighting for it or don't come crying if the channel outright dies.

They all deserve credit for different things. My first exposure was Dic. I prefer Viz for lack of censorship. I never heard of cloverway.
I’m just glad DiC existed cause like they said a lot of Americans would have never found the anime without that. There’s some changes I didn’t like but it’s a very good place to start and worked out well in the end for getting people into SM, even though the DiC dub never did the end of the show.

I'll admit it, I'm not really in Sailor Moon as a show. That said, I AM a huge fan of the anime genre. Have been since I've gotten into Pokemon and Dragonball back when I was a kid. I'd LOVE it if America got more anime dubs. I hate having to scour the internet for dubs. It makes me feel like the genre is getting gate-kept.
I'd love it especially if we got some more mainstream leave for video game/RPG style animes. Delicious in Dungeon from Netflix is a great example.
Completely agree on getting more dubs and tbh even video games or other tie in material would be cool. One reason Dragon Ball works so well is it's a successful manga, anime, toy brand and even gaming franchise.
Animation has a whole has been gatekept for way too long. The original Cartoon Network was the major reason why many shows went up in stock because it actually convinced people of all ages to give old shows and new shows chances. People aren't doing that as often these days. People are staying inside their own little bubbles and running to make-believe authority figures that affirm what they like is really the best and everything else isn't worth their time.
Doesn't matter what area of animation you look at. Even the most successful going today don't have the marketing reach of the past It isn't the shows' faults. Its because the networks didn't care. It's because the internet would rather flame warm and cause division. Plenty of people would enjoy more if they gave them an actual chance.
So lets support Cartoon Network and people like Ouweleen and Register, who were there to see how it worked back then, and hopefully with the right support bring some of that spirit back.

About that the 4kidstv dub back then while they did MAKE all 70 CCS episodes only 35 of them actually aired on Cable TV so the only way to watch the full 70 is via a NIS America dub one where the Voice acting for that dub is SO bad its practically unwatchable.
While the Clear Card Arc currently for its sequel only lasted for like 22 episodes I can't find a SINGLE DVD English dub for it.

6:27 - I think there's a good chance it'll become popular again. When it comes to male audiences today, there's another factor people might not be thinking about. The thing about re-airing Sailor Moon now is that we had something between 2010 and 2019 that will really bolster that audience, even moreso than it already is.
And that's the brony fandom. For almost a decade, male audiences were watching My Little Pony, a show geared toward young girls, even moreso than Sailor Moon was. The popularity of this show was a phenomenon that to this day is still a 'mystery never fully explained'. The show became so popular that it went on for nine seasons, airing more episodes than the Sailor Moon anime had and still remains one of Hasbro's most popular and most successful cartoons outside of Transformers.
I think this will factor into an audience wanting to watch Sailor Moon on TV (unless they already have the DVDs like I do). A show geared toward younger girls being watched by a male audience? Nowadays, that's not all that unusual.
Why do we have to think like that? It's prejudice and bs to say you shouldn't like something because it isn't made for whatever boxes you happen to check off on an id card.
The original Cartoon Network that made Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z relevant didn't think like that. They wanted household numbers not demographics. They wanted a diverse channel with shows and blocks that could appeal to various people and encourage them to try new things. They were not supposed to be limitations. Cartoon Network actually lost viewership for the first time ever when they started scheduling shows only being for certain demographics in mind. That's the part of the history people want you to forget.
@@kinskisplayhouse9488 It's unfortunate, but that was a reality back in the day when it first aired. Nowadays though it's not really a big deal anymore (between bronies and the advancement of history), so the show is far more likely to get viewed.
I remember watching Sailor Moon series back in 1995 when it was english dubbed by DIC Studios. I was hooked. I even like the dubbed theme song in english. Now the re released from VIZ isn't the same with the original voice cast. I even like the movie trilogy.
Actually Cloverway made Neptune and Uranus cousins not DiC.

glad that they are putting sailor moon back on tv... however its looking more and more like normal tv that we grew up with is on the way out... streaming has overtaken both broadcast and media format, back in the day we would still watch it on tv even tho we had the vhs or even later on dvd, cable is too messy now and way overpriced vs streaming options... i like that the viz dub will be airing on another media source but to forget the dic dub means to lose out on a humorous take on a legendary series, wish they would release those on streaming or even give blu ray options for those dubs as there is a charm in em that is sorely missed
MEtv is now showing classic cartoons (like Flintstones) on Saturday mornings. That's a broadcast channel.
That only applies if you have like one or two streaming services. If you have more than that you are def paying more than cable. Especially if any of them is Netflix.
But will cartoon network actually air the shows in the correct 4x3 ratio?

Cartoon Network on Fridays. It's usually a little bit of a different time for different time zones though. I think for us it's around 4:00 p.m..

That's a harder fight to win. But they got black and white cartoons back to Boomerang, so don't give up for that one day.
It's a fantastic move, but framing the narrative as if we aren't sure why they are doing this just fuels more misinformation. It's been pretty transparent that Michael Ouweleen and Sam Register who lived through the transition of the network being an animation oriented channel to kids oriented channel want to reverse that trend as much as their corporate masters will let them. There's been multiple things done since 2019 that were directly aimed to make the channel be ran more like it used to be before the AOL-Time Warner merger. Ouweleen has at least twice in interviews challenged whether the concept of "adult animation vs kids animation" is something that even needs to exist. What more does he have to do before people stop assuming the channel still operates like people like Kellner, Samples and Snyder are still there?
Now look i get that maybe a lot of people, you like the cartoons, but you don't really care all that much the business side of it. But this becomes a problem when people want to talk as if they do know what's going on there when in reality they have no clue. Then other people will just watch videos and assume the person making it knows what they are talking about. it is the never ending cycle of misinformaton.
The worst part is that nearly all of this fake history all goes back to Laurie Goldberg. Which is a name if you were old enough to be on the internet when Sailor Moon was airing is a name you should be familiar with. Save Our Sailors hated that woman's guts. Now people repeat lies she invented in pr releases and emails as if they are the gospel of the channel. Unfortunately it proved her right with her strategy. Target the younger kids and lie to them long enough to have enough blind believers to bully the people who know better. I'm sure she's prouder of her work at TLC, the animation side of internet owes that woman hella royalties.

Heavily censored to the point where it completely changed characters and didn't even finish because DiC abandoned it.
The selection of anime now is huge. Why should they watch old stuff from the 90s? Im talking about SM but also Evangelion or even bebop.

Having said that i got into anime thanks to Tenchi muyo and other Pioneer series. I understand that Sm is important but i never liked it. I loved the parodies like Pretty Sammy and others. Sm in Poland was also huge and it was also censored.some episodes didnt air at all.

When I saw Sailor Moon, it aired 5Am in the morning on week days.. Not back to back with Dragonball. That was way too early for me. But I still tried to wake up early enough to watch it but then it stopped airing on antenna TV and went onto Cable, which I didn't have. Same with Dragonball Z. I didn't care for Dragonball Z when it aired on Saturday morning until it started talking about the Super Saiyan. I was like, "Oh, that's interesting." then it stopped airing on antenna TV and went onto cable. Which made me very sad because I wanted to see the Super Saiyan. Ended up buying the VHS just to see it.
In my mid 20s, I watch Sailor Moon again but in Japanese. It was pretty boring. And yet I still try to watch it because Sailor Moon was hot. Ended up fast forwarding most of the time. Only got through 100 episodes. Didn't even make it to 200.
Watched Crystal when it came out and avoided fast forwarding. Sailor Moon was very annoying. Did not like her personality. She maybe pretty but I did not like her personality.
Wow someone who watched them before Cartoon Network picked them up? That is a rarity.
