Top cruise had the record for holding his breath in this for 6 min but recently Kate Winslet beat his record by holding her breath for 7 MINUTES in the new Avatar film.
That opera scene is one of the most thrilling scenes I've ever seen in movies. So well done, beautiful set, rising music, top notch action. Absolutely perfect
It’s of course up to debate but for me Rebecca Ferguson has to be one of the most attractive bad ass actresses ever to grace the screen her poise and accuracy in the execution in fight scenes as well as her body language and facial expressions I just can’t help but be mesmerised by her
She is very nearly Hunt's equal. She isn't in the least phased by completely insane plans. She holds her own against anyone, including Hunt. She has that calm demeanor no matter what is going on. I mean, there's a reason MI6 chose her to infiltrate The Syndicate. The brass it takes to chew out Lane to his face throw him a gun and tell him to man up and kill you himself or stop threatening you... that's completely Hunt territory.
Great reaction, can't wait for M.I.6. I played trombone for 9 years. The instrument you guys asked about was a real flute, it's usually used for beginners. They just used the shell of the instrument and fit it with a rifle barrel and firing components somehow lol.
What ever the upcoming Mission Impossible dead reckoning films will bring us , I just hope Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa Faust character not be killed off , the key scene in the desert and the Venice bridge scene really terrified us
I love how they keep 1 character from each movie to reprise their role as a team member, well except for 2. Luther from 1, Benji from 3, Brandt from 4, Hunley (Mr. Secretary) and Ilsa from this one and so on. They build the squad from previous movies which is awesome.
Fun fact: Atlee's appearance in the scene on London's Embankment (in the light brown coat and glasses) appears to be a nod to George Smiley, an superspy character created by the iconic spy thriller writer John Le Carre. Le Carre has written some of the best spy thrillers around - "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy", "The Constant Gardner", "The Tailor of Panama" and the TV series "The Night Manager" are all excellent.
The first of multiple films in the franchise to be helmed by one director. That director is Christopher McQuarrie, Oscar-winner for Best Original Screenplay (The Usual Suspects). M-I:5 is McQuarrie's 3rd film with Cruise followed by Jack Reacher (2012) & Edge of Tomorrow (2014). Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa, actually co-starred with Dwayne Johnson in HERCULES (2014) before M-I:5. Sean Harris as Solomon Lane, was in Prometheus (2012) and Deliver Us From Evil (2014). Altogether this was another incredible mission. Saw this one in IMAX and of course, it's the only way you watch it. McQuarrie is director of the next installments. M-I:6 Fallout is the peak and you can't blink while watching that one.
Thank you for pointing out how the intro alone seemed like a peek action sequence! Mi loves to give the audience an adrenaline rush from beginning to end it’s why i love the series so much never a dull moment.
This one is my favorite. 6 gets all the love, deservedly, but this one is the last one to have Reiner and he is really a great part of the team. The humor is perfectly calibrated in this film. That said, get ready for 6. They somehow manage to level up. Cavill's mustache, Baby!
I’m loving so much this Mission Imposible reactions, I don’t want them to stooop! Tom Cruise is one of the most hard working actors out there, these movies, the last Top Gun shows how amazing he is and how he always give us the best of the best so we have these great reactions 😲😬😱😂
In the original series of Mission Impossible in 1966 on tv, they used vinyl records to tell Briggs (the leader) what the mission was for that episode. Granted not as cool as this, but you know. 😜
23:23 James: "Did you just say... Impossible?" Haha. PS: You didn't recognise Rebecca Ferguson from DUNE (Lady Jessica) well she's, a marvelous actress from Sweden so thanks from Sweden.
The thing I love about these movies is that Cruise knows that if EVERYONE looks cool, it helps the movie. Some people with egos don’t want their costars looking good onscreen. He’s smart enough to let everyone shine. Rebecca Ferguson GODDAMN!
One of my Top faves of the MI series! Adding Rebecca F. , was a great move as she is pretty much the female UK Ethan Hunt lol. I just these having their mix of- Spycraft, friendship, a few funny bits tossed in, the awesome stunts, and etc. It truly holds your interest and you come away having been entertained! 😁
When my friend watched this for the first time, he lost his shit on the part where Hunley is talking up Ethan to the Prime Minister and Ethan was actually in the room 🤣
It's funny hearing you talk about the gadgets and how probable they'd be in real life. Back in the 1960's whenever a new gadget was featured on the show "Get Smart" the US Intelligence agency at the time would visit the show's writers and producers and ask "Where did you hear about this?" worried that they somehow had access to knowledge they shouldn't have. It would not surprise me if after each episode the people in charge would visit their tech division and say "So that thing that was on the show last night... can you guys actually make that?"😁
Fun stuff that others may or may not have mentioned... Christopher McQuarrie, who (unintentionally) took over the series with this film, was a fan of continuity. After ghostwriting Luthor and Ethan's wife INTO the last movie, he littered several items into this film that were references and homages to the previous entries in the series. Ghost Protocol being the most obvious, as the sub-plot with Alec Baldwin and Jeremy Renner being a direct follow up to the events in that film; however, other examples include a bloody Ethan Hunt calling IMF from a phone booth and featuring the exact same dialogue and code (bravo, echo, one, one) as he uses in the first film, the motorcycle chase being an allusion to the end sequence of the second film, and Ethan dying and needing to be resuscitated from the third film. Originally, McQuarrie had reached out to both Maggie Q and Paula Patton to see if they would be interested in returning for this film, but both already had previous engagements, so a new female lead was created in their place with Rebecca Ferguson taking the main lead. Sean Harris was asked several times to play the villain and turned it down because he was not interested in playing franchise roles that would require him to come back for films he might not want to be in. McQuarrie assured him that all the main villains always get killed, so it was a one-and-done process and he wouldn't need to return. Then he had a change or heart down the line and re-wrote the character to be captured, but not killed. Oops. Sean Harris then returned for the next film and was ALSO not killed again. Strike two! Also, Jens Hultén, who plays the "Bone Doctor" who tortures Ethan after he is captured was supposed to get kicked, hit his head on a metal pipe and get killed in that scene. McQuarrie added in a few lines of dialogue and liked his performance so much that he rewrote the character and gave him an expanded role in the film. The scene where Atlee gets tranquilized in the Prime Minister's room required reshoots, but it was impossible to schedule Alec Baldwin and Tom Cruise together due to their schedules. So a few of the closeup shots you see were filmed weeks apart on difference sets in different parts of the world... including the one where Cruise is kneeling down and both Jenner and Baldwin are leaning next to him. The shot of Alec Baldwin was not filmed with the other two and digitally added into the frame much later. The shot where Ilsa lifts her leg up and points the sniper rifle was almost never in the film. Once McQuarrie saw her in the dress and realized the slit allowed for much of her legs to be exposed and how flexible it would allow her to put her leg up and point the gun, he wanted to add it in. Production wanted to wrap up and move onto other scenes. So Tom Cruise vouched for him and basically told them "YOU NEED THIS SHOT! THERE IS NO MOVIE WITHOUT THIS SHOT!" so he could get it. (ok... I'm paraphrasing a little). Also, the scene where Cruise is on the walkway battling the much larger sniper with the flute rifle, McQuarrie used two different lenses to film the reverse shots... one to make the sniper appear much larger in frame and for Tom to look much smaller in frame, to give the impression that he was being vastly overpowered. McQuarrie also wanted to punch up the dialogue in the scene were Ethan and Benji were discussing the assassination at the opera. He was trying to come up with some deep meaning that would tie everything in the film together for why the Syndicate was doing what they were doing and Cruise suggested "to send them a message." That was the entire reason for everything that went down. McQuarrie's reaction was "That's it? Is it really that simple?" and sure enough, when Ethan explains to Benji why, he simply says "tonight was a statement" and that's it! (At this point, I should also mention that the movie went on to get a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score). BTW... the "effects" shot at 25:41 of Benji putting on the mask while looking into the mirror was completely practical. The actor putting the mask on Benji was a double for Tom Cruise and the mirror was actually just a hole into the next room with the actual actor Benji would have been playing, Cruise, and a double for Ferguson. Completely unrelated to this film, and, yet, still fascinating... just before being cast in this film, Rebecca Ferguson starred in the miniseries "The White Queen" for BBC One (it later aired on Starz in the US). The main writer and developer of that miniseries was Emma Frost. Emma Frost is also the name of the fictional X-Men character The White Queen, who debuted in X-Men Issue 129... 34 years prior to that series' first airing.
@newspooiechannel Being a lifelong English history nerd I loved "The White Queen". And I think Rebecca did a wonderful job bringing Elizabeth Woodville to life. I wasn't aware of the Emma Frost coincidence. Freaky in the best possible way! Thanks for the info & a very interesting comment.🌿🌿
Man, I first found out about Rebecca Ferguson in this movie, and after this, I just saw her everywhere. I LOVED her acting!! I was just so mesmerized by her in this movie! She had been in some TV series before, but I think after this, her career skyrocketed? She was in the Greatest Showman, and then Doctor Sleep (please watch this if you haven't!! She's amazing there too!), and then Dune etc. I just absolutely love the character Ilsa Faust. This is how you do a female character. She's a full-fledged character of her own, not just a love interest. I think I read somewhere that they (Cruise and McQuarrie) developed Ilsa's character without any plan of making her Hunt's love interest, but then you can see here that us all of the audience really felt their chemistry, and it works that way. It's subtle, but Idk, it just works lol. I love it. It's really not like other movies. I hope she doesn't die in MI7 or MI8 :'( Honestly, Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise are just the absolute perfect duo in creating awesome movies. They did it again in Top Gun Maverick and Edge of Tomorrow which are non-MI movies. OMG PLEASE CAN YOU DO A REACTION FOR EDGE OF TOMORROW?!?! That movie surprised me on how great it was!!!
I commented almost the same thing about Rebecca Ferguson. She needs to be in more movies! She's one of my favorite actresses. I loved her in Doctor Sleep. Anyway, have you watched Life (2017)? She's in it too, along with Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal.
@@hazri8758 and man, her in Doctor Sleep makes me think she can take more villain roles heheh! She's amazing!! She reminds me of Cate Blanchett who is fantastic both as protagonist and villain! 😍
About Rebecca Ferguson, didn't you guys watch Doctor Sleep? The whole opera bit is a masterpiece and one of those things that make Rogue Nation the best M:I ever made.
If you do Bond... As much as I would love for you to watch every one in order... Technically the Craig ones have a continuity so you can do Casino Royale through No Time to Die.
Personally, Rogue Nation is the best Mission Impossible sequel. Maybe the best movie in the franchise, period. Everyone would choose Fallout but the whole nuclear bomb threat plot has become tired and stale. The introduction of Ilsa Faust and Solomon Lane was just brilliant. I loved the underwater cooling tank scene. I loved the opera scene. I loved the motorcycle chase scene. I loved the opening scene, especially when Ethan gives that looks, pulls the cord and flies out of the plane. I loved how they took down Atley and Solomon Lane
Although Ghost Protocol is slightly better, this is one is also really watchable. Lots of fun, incredible stunts, and breathtaking action. So refreshing to see a blockbuster that’s not totally reliant on CGI.
I've loved all the Mission Impossible's but Fr. "Ghost Protocal" to the two newer films coming out.... they're definitely a lot more exciting and action packed It would be interesting to watch you guys react to the Original 1960s TV Show "Mission Impossible" that the movies are based off of ... At least a few episodes ( MAYBE the pilot ep plus a few Fan FAVES) ???? (IF you guys are interested?)
He almost did. Right after M-I:6 Fallout, he had interest in the DCEU. Wanting to work with Cavill on the Man of Steel sequel and potentially making a Green Lantern Corps film. His proposals for both were considered by WB at the time. But never became concrete as they could've. His ideas for both sounded really promising
there weapons you see in this, or any of the other Mission Impossible movies, are made to be real weapons. So the flute gun we saw Tall Blonde putting together and the "pipe/pole gun' of Rebecca Ferguson are real guns made from/in the design of what they were hidden as.
How has the guy on the left not seen any of these movies you guys are doing reactions for lol but then every movie you guys watch he's in love with. How accurate are these videos lol
I think I enjoyed this the most out of the post-3 sequels, Ilsa was great and Lane was a really good villain too like an evil Benji. I liked the way they trapped him too, and the music when during the scene too was top notch not to say that Fallout isn't great either, but I think I enjoy this a bit more, the yellow dress may have some part in the bias though...
She tells the story that the jump from the Opera House roof was her first day shooting, and she has a fear of heights. So there she is, first day on set, strapped to Tom Cruise, jumping off a building, screaming absolutely the filthiest words she could think of in his ear for multiple takes and then apologizing to him.
They did say that they would transfer salvageable assets to the CIA... so even if they do not have a Tom Cruise... i think they would be willing to salvage that...
Until the lost, higher quality sound be found lol. Is there any way you can lower the volume from your mic's? The feedback of your voices bouncing back from iside the room is super loud. I'm no audio expert so I understand if it can't be done until the main issue is fixed which I'm sure you'll take care of soon hopefully, especially before Mission Impossible: Fallout 😁👍🏼
Fallout just ups this even more. McQ as director... he was MADE for these films the way Tom Cruise was. Do Bourne first, but do follow that with Bond. Bourne is a solid trilogy. Damon does really good work in it. Bond... are you talking the whole thing? Or just Daniel Craig bond? Either way I'm in, the old ones are a hell of a lot of fun. Great actors in the role. Lots of fun film stuff in them. New Bond is on another level and is less about the corny cringey womanizing and gadgets.
Definately need to tackle 007. Start with Sean Connery in Dr. No and work your way through the decades, different styles, different approaches to playing James Bond.
Fallout you guys are in for a Treat! If you guys are doing BOND I personally would love you guys to do the WHOLE series beginning with DR NO as NO TH-camr that I'm aware off has done so, most only do Daniel Craig, It would be great to see how the series evolves over the decades. Jason Bourne would also be a great series of films also. If you are looking for a Spy/action TV Show to watch I recommend 24.
What action franchise should we pick up next?? I'm thinking Bond or Bourne, but let us know!!
Bourne for sure
Bond for sure. But start with Dr. No and work your way up. Sean Connery was my idol. R.I.P. Sir Connery, you shall be missed.
My vote is on Bourne. James Bond is too long.
Love them both..Bourne would be easier...Bond you would probably want to pick an era or just start from the beginning
Bourne mos def.
ATOMIC BLONDE deserves a singular look (Charlize Theron) too 👍
Fun fact: Tom cruise did. learn to hold his breath for 6min but he didn’t really need it for the underwater stuff. Instead it was useful for the plane scene because of the planes emissions
Oh shoot!! That makes lots of sense

He was AMAZING in both movies
Love that and love even more how he still portrayed his role in to perfection even though he didn’t even want to play it!
Top cruise had the record for holding his breath in this for 6 min but recently Kate Winslet beat his record by holding her breath for 7 MINUTES in the new Avatar film.
Is Avatar 2 better than the first one?
We all know Cruise is going to plan to beat that in a future movie. 😁
Not true. The record is held by a Croatian man. 24 mins.
Top cruise 😂
Absolutely not true
It's a shame we don't see Brandt in any of the following movies. To this day, my favorite IMF team roster has been the team from Ghost Protocol.
That opera scene is one of the most thrilling scenes I've ever seen in movies. So well done, beautiful set, rising music, top notch action. Absolutely perfect
It's over the top, but we feel like it's grounded because the stunts are real. Doing as much as possible in-camera is what makes this series work.
*Benji pops out of a field*
“He’s a field agent now.”
😂😂
If you guys like the fifth movie, you gonna loved the Fallout.
It’s of course up to debate but for me Rebecca Ferguson has to be one of the most attractive bad ass actresses ever to grace the screen her poise and accuracy in the execution in fight scenes as well as her body language and facial expressions I just can’t help but be mesmerised by her

The brass it takes to chew out Lane to his face throw him a gun and tell him to man up and kill you himself or stop threatening you... that's completely Hunt territory.

The instrument is a bass flute. The way that he “puts” it together is pretty accurate.
The scene in the record store in the beginning is based on the very first scene of the first episode of the TV show back in '66.

If you do Bond... As much as I would love for you to watch every one in order... Technically the Craig ones have a continuity so you can do Casino Royale through No Time to Die.
My favourite IM film so far. Ilsa Faust was such an intriguing addition. Love her. The action/fight scenes were top notch. Can’t wait for Fallout now.
49:17 lol what this "we" business we're talking about, you guys inserted yourselves in the movie and on the team :D
😂😂
Apart from the IMF team, I also love Hunley and of course his little humor characteristics shown at the end.
Opera buffs will be put off how the Turandot score was all over the place and not sequential in the scene.
I've loved all the Mission Impossible's but Fr. "Ghost Protocal" to the two newer films coming out.... they're definitely a lot more exciting and action packed
It would be interesting to watch you guys react to the Original 1960s TV Show "Mission Impossible" that the movies are based off of ... At least a few episodes ( MAYBE the pilot ep plus a few Fan FAVES) ???? (IF you guys are interested?)
So much better when it’s just the two of you. You don’t need anyone else.
Christopher McQuarrie could make a cool SUPERMAN movie
YES!!
Awesome movie, I think I like Ghost Protocol because it feels more epic and stylised. This one feels more personal and cohesive though.
Dead Reckoning part 2 needs to end with Ethan choosing option 3 and just running away with her 😂
You saw Rebecca in Doctor sleep too. She played Rose the hat .
Cannot wait for you reactions to fallout
How has the guy on the left not seen any of these movies you guys are doing reactions for lol but then every movie you guys watch he's in love with. How accurate are these videos lol
Ilsa was such a good addition and she’s so believably badass
Nearly 24 minutes is the record at staying under water!
Rebecca Ferguson was so good in MI 5 that Tom Cruise wanted her back making her permanent cast lmao.
Surprised you both didn’t recognize the Lady Jessica from Dune but you recognized her from The Greatest Showman! LOL!!
Awesome movie. Sucks audio is messed up though lol
how about watching "Anna" next? another really great spy movie with awesome tactics and really good twists
The Old Guard on Netflix. Great action film with Charlize Theron and an axe!
I think I enjoyed this the most out of the post-3 sequels, Ilsa was great and Lane was a really good villain too like an evil Benji. I liked the way they trapped him too, and the music when during the scene too was top notch
not to say that Fallout isn't great either, but I think I enjoy this a bit more, the yellow dress may have some part in the bias though...
What happened to a lot of the old videos that aren't on the channel anymore??
What do you mean? Which ones?
@@whitenoisereacts the ones I couldn't find are Midsommar, kill bill, and part two of Twilight breaking dawn.
They did say that they would transfer salvageable assets to the CIA... so even if they do not have a Tom Cruise... i think they would be willing to salvage that...
My favorite mission impossible movie 🙌🏻
Now you see me is a nice action mini franchise
Fav one hands down
Until the lost, higher quality sound be found lol. Is there any way you can lower the volume from your mic's? The feedback of your voices bouncing back from iside the room is super loud. I'm no audio expert so I understand if it can't be done until the main issue is fixed which I'm sure you'll take care of soon hopefully, especially before Mission Impossible: Fallout 😁👍🏼
i love Rebecca Ferguson ;3
Great Reaction Gentlemen. Great Movie.....
All these movies are amazing. Except the next movie has a awkward scene between Alec Baldwin and Henry Cavill that dosent age well
I’m still trying to decide who is more goated when it comes to performing their own stunts. Jackie Chan or Tom Cruise. Idk i can’t choose.🤭
this one is so Fun!!
Lucky Number Slevin. Not a franchise but... yeah. LNS.
The modern Ocean’s movies(11, 12, 13) would be cool for you to react to.
After Mission Impossible you guys should do RED and the Man from Uncle
Fantastic movie, very awesome.
You REALLY need to react to RED 1 and 2 with Bruce Willis. Maybe before Bond, honestly, not gaga over Bond.
Definately need to tackle 007. Start with Sean Connery in Dr. No and work your way through the decades, different styles, different approaches to playing James Bond.
If u do James Bond start from the beginning of the franchise. Not just the Daniel Craig movies
Love these mission impossible reactions can’t wait for kung fu panda trilogy hopefully on the channel soon
Forget to turn your mics on?
great reaction! the audio is a bit off though
This movie is great
Another really good Mission movie. I’m excited for the new one. Next watch suggestion: Jack Ryan TV show. It’s fcking amazing.
Seeing Ilsa in sniper pose in the thumbnail made me happy! She’s superb 🔥🥷🏼
@whitenoisereacts, please can you add Titanic 1997 to your list of reactions pls
You guys should watch The Man From uncle by Guy Ritchie
Can you please react to transformers series 1 to 5
