bruh what???? hows that misogynistic do you know what it means? ...ill help you it means you hate women just because he rather have more good male characters in the show dont mean he hate women and by the way your assessment of the show is dead wrong there's not more female characters in the show then others and on top of that the female acting in this show is just straight up corny nothing like elena rebbeca and hailey @@nw6243
I truly believe that Inadu should have returned just to finish business with Hope like they did with Aurora not introducing cheesy monsters with dumb plots.
Right. Exactly. But instead we got disgusting monsters who really serve no purpose other than make me not want to eat my food for at least a day after watching every episode 🤮 I rather preferred TVD & TO where the monsters were even more terrifying cuz they looked amazing but we knew they were evil.
They tried to appeal to a new ‘tween’ audience rather than maintaining the earthy, moody tone of TVD and TO. What I loved about TVD was the kids coming of age and dealing with the supernatural subplots while having to face their own problems as growing adults. In TO, as much as it infuriated me, the focus on family always made for interesting dynamics when the characters were at odds over personal desire versus the good of the family. Instead of getting a show with the same earthy grit and heart as TVD and the consequences Hope should have faced after being intrinsic to her own orphaning (while deflecting blame entirely on Elijah, who only ever fought for Hope from day one?!!) we get mud-monsters and characters that felt more like the writers put tropes into a hat and pulled them out at random. None of them felt like authentic people. There’s very little by way of cohesive character development in any of the younger characters, nothing about the monsters of the week teaches the characters anything about themselves, and give no lasting consequences. Hope discovering what it means to be born of witch and werewolf ancestry plus the vampirism aspect, while orphaned, should have been an enormous focus. To put it simply, Legacies lacked the magic and mystery of TVD and the heart and high-stakes conflict of TO.
I guess, but new tweens want the gay more than old school fans ever did so I don’t know that they even understood the audience they probably wanted to have 🤣
It was hard for me from the beginning. It was so tween and Scooby-Doo ish I was like , “what happened in the writing room!” I felt like I was literally watching it out of obligation because I was TVD and Originals fan and I really wanted to see what would happen with Hope and the Twins but I just had to stop lying to myself and stop watching it. Especially since Caroline was like always mentioned but like never there. I couldn’t deal with it.
It did, then they introduced gods and completely lost me but I was kind of unsurprised since Legacies was really crazy and not in a good way. Though certain lines are pretty funny taken out of context.
I’m just gonna say it, Landon was boring (no fault of the actor), which it made so much worse that Hope’s storylines revolved almost entirely around him.
Definitely! I’ve actually thought about doing a video about all the stolen story lines from he tvdu taking from Buffy! (Also it’s no coincidence that Brett Matthews worked for Joss Whedon years ago!)
@@charmingcinema595at least tvd was enjoyable enough tbh, tvd didnt try to COPY BUFFY too much, it was more of a tribute. legacies however copied everything from buffy !
@@charmingcinema595 Julie Plec is horrible. Let me explain Kevin Williamson created Tvd and he wrote the best parts, the problem is Julie writes herself into a corner and doesn't know how to get out of it.
Having only seen Legacies and nothing before it, I still enjoyed the first two seasons. Then 3&4 came. Landon died and came back to life, never actually being Landon, with such regularity it became comical. It seemed weekly another student found a reason to forsake all others, going off to do "the right thing" only to make things worse, pissing everyone off. Seriously? I couldn't help but wonder if the writers weren't actually stuck in their own supernatural loop, presenting the same episode week after week with only a few minor changes. I only kept watching because I hadn't seen a series swirl down the old porcelain bowl this badly since Xena.
Alaric was totally the main guy and NOT Landon. At one point I felt like they tried to give tension between Alaric and Hope and it just creeped me out. At least aunt Jenna in TVD was cool but still clearly a wholesom aunt. The Alaric guy totally matched his personality irl which gave creepy he pastor in skinny jeans/flannel/boots and Bieber combed hair vibes. He should have just been a wholesome dad that actually looked out for them and aided them. No real dad would have so FEW instructors at a school with magical kids. It should have been like Harry Potter. Teachers for each subject. Leaders of their housing quarters, curfews, rules, eating times, dress codes (not just uniforms meant to be sexualized like wtf). It was just a joke from the start and not even sorta real
Couldn't agree more about everything you just said! Alaric should have been similar to Dumbledore, not to Mr Schuester (from Glee) and his creepy realtionship with his UNDERAGE students, he should have been a father to Lizzie and Josie as much as he was to Hope. In Legacies it felt like he was devoted to Hope but couldn't really care less about his real daughters, the only link between him and his dead wife who he supposedly loved so much! The few times we saw the students in class it was really interesting and showed what the show could have been but no, it was all wasted.
They went from a damn near masterpiece of the Originals, a show finally about vampires that act LIKE VAMPIRES, and went to this..... sludge..... its appropriate they fought a mudman for most of it, the show is utter sludge. I only watched because Hope was a great character in TO..... they ruined her. I honestly never knew (or cared) as to what the actresses sexualities were nor ever saw the two characters as even remotely romantic... I think that is off screen stuff people assumed when watching.
I know i'm late but i just wanted to share my version of the show: The first season would've fleshed the new characters more, make the fans love them, while Triad Industries tries to awake Vera, a necromancer from another dimension. They wake her, but Hope will fall with her in that dimension in the season finale. The second season would introduce Malivore, but not as this golem, but the being sent to earth by nature when Nature created the first witch to create spells and rituals. He would've been Landon's father, but would also die in season 2 finale when Hope triggers her vampire side. Dark Josie would also come, but her breaking the sandclock would've been în season 1 finale, while in season 2 she tries to fight the evil inside her, loosing evetually after being corrupted by Kai(Palpatine and Anakin style), Lizzie kills Kai, but when Alaric chooses the school over his family, Josie destroys the school and masacres the students(except the main characters obviously). The 3rd season would have no humanity Hope and Dark Josie as the main villains. Hope kills Alaric instead of getting him into a coma. After that she kills The new Triad(Agatha, Craig and Aurora) one by one, after which she focuses her attention on Mikaelson witches ansestors, who were sent by nature to end her life. They would be defeated when Maya(Ethan's sister and also a witch), burns the red oak tree, therefore breaking the link between ancestors and the living world. And all this would evetually lead to season 4, where Stefanie is introduced and turned into a vampire, and the first witch to ever walk the earth, Claudia, will wake up for unknown reasons. A 5 year time jump would occur between seasons 3 and 4 and Josie and Lizzie will evetually merge(Josie was trapped in a prison world for 5 years, but the curse will free her). Josie wins and Lizzie dies, but wakes up a heretic. Josie will be killed eventually by Lizzie, after she realise her sister is trully lost. What do you guys think ? :))
Love this version so much more! It’s slower yet still has big moments. None of it revolving around monster if the week. I’d also love for Josie to go dark and end the entire school except the main characters, also with hope ending Alaric that would have been perfect because that sorta happened in the vampire diaries the aunt who is basically Elena’s mom because her parents died is murdered and it’s heartbreaking because she’s such an important character but that fuels Elena and Jeremy for the rest of the show- it influences their character. Your version also has more opportunities for good writing and character development! I honestly never liked Lizzie and Josie too much but that’s because they were almost a joke of a character and nothing deep about them. All of the girls were sexualized and paper thin, nothing deep.
i LOVED the original mystery of landon, the “why is the one person hope gets close to the one person she can never have” trope, then everything became about landon constantly dying and it ruined it. i like the landon was a big part, but hope IS the legacy. no one should be more centered than her.
The structure of the episodes are bad as well. A monster shows up they fight for 5 min then it cuts to some random thing the other people are doing, Then cuts back to the fight again and keeps doing this until the end of the episodes. Also why is Hope not just one tapping everything? She is the strongest being that has ever lived, Yet she has problems in every fight and just barely wins WITH the help of others.
The points you made are so trueee. especially about landon and hosie 🤧 if they just focused on hope and the twins, and maybe made hope and josie happen (im being biased) the show could’ve been better. legacies has so much WASTED POTENTIAL and it’s all brett matthews fault
And some little more points let hope have unique powers let her be super powerful and actully fulfill the promise of the originals. Dive in to the Gemini coven and actually find a way to break the curse maybe via hope the tribred, dive into what it means to be a phoneix let Landon evolve, fire teleportation?, fire throwing, increased strength nd using his wings as weapons the possibilities are endless here, show a ton of flashbacks of the gods, at least give them a visual backstory. And yup malivore should have been a man that can turn into a mud man to consume people, and he should have had better motivation and more moments whit Landon, I see your saying that hope was sidelined, BUT SO WAS LANDON, Landons family drama and moment became about hope becoming the tribred, Landon should have had a moment to rise and kick his fathers ass
Here's the thing about Legacies. The show feels very watered down, overly comedic, and has a childish tone compared to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. The first problem was the Monster of the Week episodes that lead up to Malivore. The first three seasons were spent on a villain that had no character, the previous series had memorable villains that were fleshed out like Klaus Mikaelson, Raina Cruz, The Hollow, and The Originals. Next, I don't understand the hate for Landon Kirby other than the obvious. The writers wrote him as a damsel in distress while being used the exact same way Bonnie Bennett was used in TVD and we all know fans would never think to criticize, Hope Mikaelson. The ugly truth is that Hope was overly invested in Landon because she's psychologically scarred from losing both her parents and the fact that her family never visits her makes her feel even more lonely. On top of that, she's a recluse in school and has no friends. To say her life sucks for a teenage girl is an understatement. I always kept mentioning the impact of losing fan-favorite characters like Penelope Park, Jade, Maya, and even Alyssa Chang. Those characters along with Sebastian, Jed, and Kaleb should have developed more for a more well-rounded experience. The legacy of Penelope Park never died and she could have easily joined the main cast instead of being Josie's love interest. I truly believe that Jade and MG would have been either the best of friends or one of the best couples on the show since their experiences were so similar with both of them being rippers. I also think that Jed and Kaleb were neglected in both backstories and things to do besides bickering with each other. Alyssa Chang could have easily been turned into a reformed evil, alpha bitch, character trope. Her already hooking up with Jed could make for another cool relationship or friendship. You get the point though, the characterization with the main cast was good but could have been way better and everybody kept leaving the show for some reason. Another problem was the school never felt like a school, since all the students were gone due to safety issues, along with no supporting characters including, students, administration, teachers, and security. They never brought into play the worldbuilding and like I said earlier the tone of the show felt very light with no dramatic moments since they established Hope as the invincible tribrid hero. Personally, I don't care about Hosie that much, if it happened I rather have it feel natural than forced or have Josie find her own love interest. Lastly, if Matt Davis really is all those horrible things then he's just as bad as his own character...locking up students in a prison world because of parental bias. That fact alone should have got him thrown out of his own school, but they never brought it up.
Another thing I haven't seen being talked about is how weak and unlikable the side characters are. Bonnie and Caroline are and will always be fan favourites. Caleb and MG (+everyone outside of the trinity) are some of the most annoying and least memorable characters. Imo the real problem was that most of the characters had zero redeeming qualities and there was no reason to root for them
10000% I agree. It’s like they were writing how they perceive kids to be these days instead of writing like TVD and showing hey these are how we write kids they have depth and complexity (and we watched that as kids and agrees). They made these characters so surface level!
I've suffered through all the bad seasons of TVD, even the last one, but couldn't even stomach the entirety of season 1 of Legacies. I quit it somewhere in the middle. That's how bad this show is...
Same! I tried skipping and skimming around the later seasons but it’s ass. It’s a shame because they deserved a good show but the writing sucks, it was over sexualized from the outfits and everything about it instead of just giving characters that ended up being so interesting that they were sexy. the villains were cheesy. The love interests… oh I’m sorry. INTEREST, singular. Was dull. Alaric felt unnecessary and I would have rather they made him like an overweight wholesome disheveled dad than the Bieber combover pastor-vibe we got. Every POC actor was like a side quest and just felt like them trying to meet a quota rather than having someone like Bonnie who was badass and had depth and you didn’t even think about her being a POC she was just Bonnie. The witches in this show compared to Bonnie and her grams were a total joke. How is this a school when there’s no teachers and lessons, not even a hint of Harry Potter vibes we could have had so much tension with students needing to tell one another things yet being in class and having to be quiet like I’m VD at least they went to school still! It was so weird
This show might have been good if it wasn't related to TVD or TO universe because we expected it to be similar. This could've have been a whole other story that Julie pec could have made to to take a break off the TVD universe and had time to process what to do with hopes storyline.
I feel like this show had great potential they squandered, really it only needs a couple of changes like 1. Finish the malivore story in early season 2, All the while fully involving Landon and his powers of a Phoenix, let him and hope be the one to take him down together, I suppose Landon can still die. 2. do the Evil Josie story in late season 1, then let her leave to heal after hurting so many people. Get rid of Ethan let Kaleb remain a run of the mill vampire. 3. in the rest of season 2 let there be no humanity hope and heretic Lizzie. Have the first two episodes of season 3 be be where the mikelason bring hopes humanity back, make it super emotional motion Hayley and Klaus have a full on family reunion, then end the season whit a teaser of the gods, and hope in new orlenes. All the while shrink the limbo storyline to 4-5 episodes where the first 2 episodes is Alaric getting back to life, and the third episode being Landon actually getting angry, bitter, and sad. then have hope come comfort him to fight to get out of limbo, Have the 4 episode be about his mother and the ferryman, then lets see in the last episode of the season Canon actually having some interesting powers as the ferryman. Then in season 3 also have Lizze learning about the vampirism bring Carloline back then and let her help her daughter, and let Alaric actully make som changes to the school, and admit he made some mistakes, both whit his daughters and hope. Let season 4 be fully about the gods whit Landon fighting as a god beside hope, hell throw in another god or two and let them go wild. Then let Landon bring hope to limbo to actually meet Klaus and Hayley and have super emotional moments. And since they have invested so much in Landon and hope let them be togheter whit a caveat that Landon has to periodically return to limbo to ferry the souls to peace, let him have dampened fellings but still in love whit hope. He can have a system like the pervious ferryman, just whit kind middleman this can even be Ethan or another dead student Landon was friends whit. there not the best but improved from the mess we got.
1. Get rid of the stupid magical creatures. Stick to the basic, vamps, werewolves and witches. 2. Kill your big bad in that season and introduce a next. 3. You have a whole cast why is every story connected to Hope? Honestly hated how Saltzman kids' storyline line was just "but really all your feelings are about Hope"
Besides everything that was mentioned, I also feel like the mythos of the universe was kinda ruined (TVD did that too with the introduction of Cade and the sirens, but at least it wasn't as ridiculous as the monsters that appeared every week or Malivore). I like that we got some origin story for the witches, but knowing that goofy ass monsters existed in the same universe with some cool and badass characters like Klaus, Elijah, Marcel, Katherine and more is soooooo funny to me. Also, I dislike how the 3 main species were represented in the legacies. Werewolves were never treated properly in any of the shows (maybe besides TO), the vampires were okay but never felt like a threat, and don't get me started on the nickelodeon ass type of witches.
Yes! This pissed me off from the very beginning. The Vampire Diaries universe started off very grounded, with clear rules, which I appreciated. It made it all seem a bit more believable somehow, and while they did erode that over time, it doesn’t compare to what they did with Malivore. It literally allowed them to add any mythical creature ever conceived of to the universe. They turned the universe into an absolute joke with the monster of the week trope. Lazy repetitive bs week after week for the better part of 3 seasons. TVD and TO at least started off good and fell off later on. This show was never good. I mostly watched it because I had a bit of a celebrity crush on Danielle. As a side note, did they ever explain why Malivore suddenly became able to attack vampires, witches and werewolves? I thought part of its origin story was that it was created by vampires, witches and werewolves together. They worked it into the spell that Malivore could never harm anyone from the three species as far as I can remember. That’s supposed to explain how the three species continued to roam the earth while every other mythical creature was consumed and forgotten. Yet I can’t recall there ever being an explanation as to how it was able overcome that restriction. Not that I'm expecting coherent writing from this show.
I think sirens worked just fine they were just another suptype of inmortals like Silas but canibals. Their plot was not grea but no the worst thing spit by this franchise but Cade´s is a different story. I think some introduced Legacies supernaturals could work with an appropiate introduction like the necromancer or Malivore (with a better costume or CGI) a monster who treatens vampires, wolves and witches adbucting them into a dark purgatory is not a bad plot if you asked me. The funny thing is I remember a Plec interview stating they had to nerf Damon supernatural power because weere too "supernatural and cheesy" and then we got THIS from her.
Just watched the first two episodes and I'm like... why is this so annoying to watch? Its like frustrating to see this girl Hope be on such a high horse and be soo wrong, then she doesnt even apologized to that dude Landon for treating him like a criminal, like a day after they kiss/have a moment?? There are just so many cliché character interactions so far.
I feel like a lot of it was due to the repeated cycle of Hope and Landon as well as the misuse and under development of the characters. Plus as a Hosie lover I feel that if it had become canon it would’ve improved the show a good bit. Plus way better writers were needed as well
All these comments hating on Landon need to stop because he could’ve been a great character but he had terrible writing for example they made him a phoenix and gave him fire wings just to take them away. But in season 4 he’s actually a great character.
Well done :) I would add that Hero-verse twist was a mistake in Hero saturated market. There are so many hero squads out there. Therapy box- or whatever it was - allowing to explore consequences took the thrill from any action they eventually took. I was fan of TO and TVD. It was about striving and becoming a decent human/ being. It made you enjoy the supernatural and then eventually appreciate mortality. Legacies characters are trying/ training / striving to become heroes. But there is no proper foundation for it. Poor personal journey’s poor villains for fight.
I am not trying to throw shade at brett matthews but at same time you can thank him for the lack of tension/suspense on the show and he uses these two reasons as to why- first off he claims how super dark tvd and originals was and wanted legacies to be the lighter of the show but to me, I dont recall that many super dark moments in either show, Im pretty sure what he is saying is oh they killed a bunch of protagonists so we're going to make our protagonists super safer cause the show had no problem offing monsters, bad guys and even innocent humans. Thats why the salvatore squad felt OP is cause the danger was designed to be paper thin. second reason he uses is cause well covid happened therefore the show needs to be an escape from all that doom and gloom which I get that to a point but I would be like okay you need to take a look at what this show is, this isnt sesame street, this is a semi mature show, you're dealing with serious mature themes most of the time, you are forced in a way to have serious things happen to the main cast cause you signed on for this and yes we did have some protag deaths and some bad things happen to them but there were so many characters who just were there to be there, no logical reason you couldnt up a villains credibility to take them out to give them something to take from just the generic formula that weighed the show down for most part. and even without protagonists deaths the internal conflicts were also paper thin, they completely ignored hope dealing with her struggle of the mikaelson magic and just make her the bestest eva in the pilot alone, the merge thing was barely touched upon for the twins, mgs ripper side was barely touched upon, just stuff like that being ignored really rubbed me wrong cause at a point it becomes more interesting to watch than defeating useless monsters on a weekly basis. And yes Im aware in tvd and originals didnt have every single villain take something from the protagonists other than time they couldnt get back but its important to realize being in a franchise that long you can improve on past mistakes rather than stick with that same safe style. If its a case of dont want to dissapoint and anger fans, well again you signed up for that, I dont think there was ever an instance where every single fan would be satisfied, to be on network television writing a show, you got to be prepared for backlash whether it be legit or bullshit. And that goes to fans like myself too, going into a show like this we got to be prepared for our characters we love to die or something bad to happen, it be foolish to say they will all walk away without a scratch.
@@charmingcinema595 Imagine where Hope has two children where one is half vampire, half werewolf named Danny and his brother is half vampire, half witch named Matthew. I always thought that Danny is the kind of characters where he would rather be judged by his character than his last name, because I've noticed a lot of last name stereotyping when it came to The Michaelson Family and he doesn't want people to play the last name card whenever he does something stupid whenever people find out about his last name. He's more like Shrek where he wants to be left alone, because like Danny, people judge and see the worst in him before they even bothered to get to know him.
The vampire diaries was sexy without trying really hard to be. Like maybe Elena had a low button on her top or you saw a bra. But the costumes on legacies were like a bad corn-o or something like every skirt had to be so short and shirt cropped or tie crooked, when uniforms of all places would NEVER be sexy like that. It just felt creepy to watch and like it was make for the people on set more than the people at home wanting a story line! They did not give the characters good stories either and depth, everyone had surface level problems with the monster of the week vibe of new issues coming and going each week that were easy to write in and out of existence. The whom show just felt like they didn’t try. Also vampire diaries never HINGED the entire show on Elena loving one guy, she mad many possible guys, MATT, STEFAN, Damon were the obvious ones but they kept you guessing. Instead we got Landon who always looked kinda ill in his complexion and there was no mystery to her feelings about him; she was all or nothing with him for no reason and is lost any intrigue. VD was incredible because at the end you’re impressed she’s with Damon and happy but hope you’re just sorta expecting her to end up with Landon because the writing was dull and one dimensional. They could have just had them in actual uniforms regular lengths and living in separate buildings so there’s a sense of them going to each others house. I didn’t like it all taking place in one school and no parents or other elements aside from the kids in town. Just dull dull dull
@@javierlopez9789its not about the love triangle. Just her whole "love story" felt more like and obsessesion and it was annoying as hell; like i felt that landon could die and i didnt give a single fuck.
I tried to watch it and it just felt off. They didn’t need to have this show. It didn’t offer anything that as a fan you could just make up your own lore after, would have been better.
Please make more content. This was really good. & Legacies let me down after the first season. I had high expectations... I was sadly disappointed halfway thru season 2. But the final season was okay.
if they got rid of the cheesy aspects, got a good storyline each season, created a show without the unnecessary social issue integration, and got better actors to play the roles of the character ( you went from (Ian, paul, joseph, daniel, Nina Candice etc to amateur hour real quick) you would have had at least something compelling on screen. if one of these issues had been fixed you could see some potential, but lacking all these elements? The actors don't even fit their roles, and the characters are annoying and poorly written. Part of the reason TVD and The Originals were successful even in their worst season, was because the characters were LOVABLE, RELATABLE, and wait wait here's a big one... FUN. They were carefree at times and knew how to have fun on screen even in grim times. That's something that has come with the current political climate tho feeling everyone is undeserving of carefree fun. I really don't know why I typed all of this 4 months after the post LOL No offence to the actors tho ( after being offence KEKW) just my opinion from the little I watched of legacies.
A big gripe I have with Legacies is up to the time I stopped watching (a little bit after that awful musical episode) it didn't ever give a backstory on their main cast. We know Hope, as she's the main character. Whatever happened to that prophecy of her being dangerous? Was that played up in the last season? If so, why wait so long to bring it back up? How'd Kaleb become a vampire? How'd Kai come back to life? I mean I like Chris Wood but c'mon...dude was dead in TVD! Why'd Jeremy come back? Nobody cared enough about him to make a cameo! Raph didn't get a storyline til the actor was written off. What. The. Heck!!! I wasn't a fan of Hosie or any ships really but I'd have liked to have seen a genuine friendship and besides Kaleb and MG (and even that was questionable imo at some points) I can't tell you another one that I cared about. How does one mess up faeries or phoenixes? They had an opportunity to create lore and somehow made it uninteresting 😭 Legacies hurt my feelings by how bad it was. The nail on the coffin for Legacies (at least for me) was when Lizzie mentioned having Aunt Bonnie's blood and I'm like WHAT? I lost it! How is Bonnie still being name-dropped after all the crap TVD put her through? How dare you, Julie or whoever wrote that into the script? This comment is prolly all over the place but I find it befitting as Legacies was all over the place. AND _scene_
to answer two of your questions Hopes prophecy was thrown away and made obsolete and Kai was actually brought back in the vampire diaries during the Cade arc and he was sealed in another prison world by Bonnie so he was actually alive by the end of the vampire diaries
Agreed with a lot of points, The main issue though that actually killed the show is something you mentioned, MALAVORE being the ONLY BIG BAD FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW, This is actually HIGHLY unusual for a show, At first i thought they were doing something unique and had a plan but lol NOPE, This could have been easily fixed, After Kllng malavore , it could have Unleashed something that would lead to unlocking everyones memories of all the monsters that used to exist and some big bad creatures return because of it, or you could have had it unlock a curse and malovores existence was put in place by witches as a sort of lock on something even worse, you could still use him as the thread that eventually leads to the final big bad just not actually be MALVORE AS THE BIG BAD THE ENTIRE TIME. Also side note, Anytime a persons controversy is brought up, It's a good idea to post the examples of the tweets etc so people can make an informed decision, A lot of times when an actor is accused of something its blown out of proportion and then you look at what was said and it's like wait... That's actually not outright what they meant by that, not saying he wasn't any of those things , just that when you show the statements it makes it less an opinion piece and brings out the facts / examples , plus if the internet is just running with a statement and its repeated and turns out to be not outright what they said it was , it becomes slander, I think the conversation has evolved enough that we are getting better at not taking the this person is XYZ because they said XYZ at face value, maybe younger audiences sure but adults typically want to SEE the tweet, the statement, the quote so they can understand
I really liked Legacies. I just finished season 4 and I really hope we get to see a full season 5. Also I may be weird but Landon and Josie were my favorite couple but MG and Lizzie are a super close 2nd place.
I actually really liked Landon and Josie as well even thought that’s quite unpopular. And there will not be a season 5 at all as Legacies was canceled last month, meaning the fourth season is it’s last.
@@charmingcinema595 The worst decision that was ever done was getting Hope and Landon back together in Season 2, Hope comes back, everyone remembers her, and everything went back to the way it was before. Hope had no obstacles to overcome after her "death" in Malivore. If you are going to make everyone forget somebody and have the world change around them, you keep some of those changes, otherwise there was no reason to send Hope and have everyone forget her in the first place. It's becomes a worthless plot point.
Well from someone who watched most of legacies before tvd and to. For me the biggest problem were season 2 and 3. They stayed way to long on malivore, it was not intresting anymore. I even skipped the whole of season 3 and big parts of season 2 and when I watched season 4 I still understood everything. That's when they finally stopped with the malivore plotline and stopped killing certain characters to resurrect them over and over. It became interesting again. They should have already done that in season 2.
Well from my point of view it was the Harry Potter magic, like in tvd originals you had this feeling that the spells were "realistic" (and it was at least some words were) so you had this feeling. The harvest, the ancestral plane, different immortality, but this spinoff just had random stuff thrown at you at a quick pace. The difference between Cade and Ken was huge, Cade turned evil because he was hurt by his own people, while Ken here is spelling with aurora. Like what……. Even Ken’s weapons was just given to them by Jen no thrill no nothing…..while cades had to searches….same goes for Inadu like Vincent had to contact inadus dead mother to find it and yet were unable to kill her because her souls technically immortal….
On the landon point I think a big issue was the actor was literally not the male lead that was Alaric as landon would be out of episodes. Images the tvd if elanna just wanted there for 3 weeks but was still suppose to be a key plot point.
hated Landon so fucking much, he's so boring he's so bland, Hope was a great character and they ruined her character by making her whole personality be Landon, I have up after season 3 and it's a miracle I even held on that long
honestly i love the monster of the week format of shows and had never really gotten into the originals series so the show was pretty fresh and chill for me at the beginning. i quit when hope got possessed because i had no clue whoever the fuck the villain was because it seemed like it was too tied to the originals universe and i didn't bother finding out. also, the viewer base for the originals were much more mature compared to who this show catered to so i'm assuming most who were watching felt the same way that i did if they hadn't seen the originals like myself
The Vampire Diary was absolutely awesome, then came the spinoff The orginal which was though not quite as good but pretty damn close and I love both of them so much so when they came up with Legacies, I was so looking forward to it. It started out pretty good and then quickly turned into boring and just a bunch of the most annoying bickering teenages doing the same stuipid drama queen things over and over again. By season 3, I just can't take it anymore, I just came to TH-cam to get the recap of the whole season 3 just so I can move onto Season 4 after enduring the first 4 episodes. I am now starting season 4, let's hope I can get through it instead of again just coming to TH-cam again just so I can know the ending. What a complete letdown...
Im not gonna say there werent good things in legacies, each season had at least a handful of things I think to like, that being said the tragedy of the show, the core problem is not one singular thing as much as it is a layer of thing that took away what could have been greater than it was portrayed. To make a long story short, I feel all they had to do was deliver on the original premise of these young students either fighting for control of their powers to be good or losing control and letting the darker aspects take over, thats all they needed you didnt need the following which bogged down the show overall- i have mixed feelings on monster of week, i liked it and disliked it, i did think it needed some improvements no overfocus on landon, the phoenix thing contradicted prior lore that vampires and kind of ghosts which were established as the only immortals in tvdu, he might have remained a son of malivore idk alaric would be a guest star at best, in fact there wouldnt be a headmaster, that job was useless on the show cause the students always rebelled against him ken, ben, lynn and jen could have been an old coven of witches but not labelled as gods no muse witches, cleo could have played another character no prophetic storylines the salvatore school concept was pointless cause the school aspect took a backseat and frankly I didnt care for it anyway. ben geurens would have still played necromancer but also the witch who created the merge curse, he would definetely be more threatening than what we got do not bring in gimmick episodes that also slowed down character plot malivore should have remained a flesh and blood golem merely created from mud but doesnt remain mud, his dimension he sends them too isnt made of mud either, he still could have turned on his triad creators but as a side effect of natures as opposed to the explanation they gave us that I didnt think made sense, he would have been able to attack and kill vamps, wolves and witches as well as all their monster subspecies, he would have never remained a puddle, ryan clarke would have been his human form. After realizing how he is immune to all these ways of defeat and is indestructible hope figures to fight fire with fire and becomes tribrid and kills him hope working on control of the first born mikaelson curse as it comes into effect with her as a teenager as opposed to making her so well crafted it at by the beginning of the show it made her too perfect there were other issues probably but those were main ones I think needed fixing and it would have been imo a better show
Hard to believe it’s your first video. You’re a natural! Landon has to be the worst character in the TVD universe. He’s boring, whiny, and is so self loathing it’s annoying…. I was over this show bc of that character getting so much screen time and attention even when he was OFFFF screen.
biggest problem they failed hope as a character, from a cool level headed character to a bit of bitch, although can't lie she was the best part of the series despite everything.
Agree completely. The writing collapsed in season 3. Too many new charactors leeched time from season 1-2 charactors. Josie, for example, was pretty much cast aside with an absurd story arch. They basically wrote her out while still dragging her along. Season 3-4 writers also introduced pathetic "gods", evil hope arch... drek basically. It all fell apart pretty quickly after an excellent season 2.
This is why you should of separate personal from business. It's never good to have these two in the same room happy she left however she was a hella of a character damn I still choose classic over new anytime
It would’ve been better if the writers actually gave Landon the powers of a phoenix and not just letting him die i feel people would’ve supported him more
Woahhhhh like if he would transform or fly that would have been insane. But like maybe give him an Achilles heel like he can fly but can’t carry or bring anyone with him like that’s too hard or he can only transform at certain times idk
@@charmingcinema595 Cobra Kai, TOP BOY, the originals, teen wolf, animal kingdom, all American, p valley, Vikings, the last kingdom, and sons of anarchy
In TVD there are nothing like child werewolves or child vampires. Even witches would usually gain their powers not earlier than by puberty. Vampires can not reproduce kids, they are sterile. The school was thought to be a prevention of misusing paranormal talents (witches, sorcerers, potential werewolves) by learning to handle them as soon as possible. The far to short dresses of the female kids are improper, the sport stuff of no interest for viewers abroad. And no, the Saltzman-twins were no witches, they were energy suckers. And younger than Hope. And what exactly was Hope? A potential witch by her grandma Esther and a potential werewolf. Not a hybrid, she was not turned into one. Hybrid Klaus could only reproduce with werewolf Haley because of his werewolf genes, not because of being a vampire. So the whole Legacies with it monsters was nonsense,
No doubt also suffers from too much of a good thing. Nobody had a plan, and people were already not happy about how TVD and The Originals ended. So your audience was just hoping for a cameo.
The plot was a total disaster only saved for a few episodes when some old characters from TVD and TO appeared again, Jossete and Kai Parker, the original family and Aurora de Martel. The rest was pure crap and Alaric character couldn't sustained the show either
It's a shame, because TVD and The Originals are 2 of my favorite shows of all time...but Legacies was pure trash in comparison, with almost no redeeming value.... boring characters and perhaps the worst sin.... LAME vampires. The vamps on this show were chumps compared to everyone on TVD and Originals.
Wonder why they decided to destroy it. I mean she is an alk new powerful witch who easily broke the cloaking spell of a 1000 years old powerful witch at 7 years. She performed t magic that a 16 years old girl performed when she had the powers of 3 witches and she performed that spell when she was 7 .Then she is fighting dragons evil santa and Phoenix. They literally turned her to a warrior. They kept repeating the same thing. Malivore all season 1 was on malivore. Even i can direct a better show than this
A supernatural school for werewolves and vampires is a ridiculous premise in the first place. A school for witches is acceptable in my opinion, but what children would voluntarily become werewolves? Even if some accidently turned on their gene, there shouldn't be enough students to form a pack. If you're lucky, you might have no more than ten. Ugh then there is the vampire conundrum. Are they promoting the notion that vampires who are ten to fifteen years old are loose in the town? Who would be insane enough to turned a12 year old into a vampire? How frequently do you come upon poor souls like Caroline, Tyler and Elena? A seventeen-year-old vampire who enrols at the school will graduate the next year and just walk out. What's the purpose of signing up altogether? Legacies should've never happened.
Heirs of the Night was a better show! (It didn't do as well but it was a better show), personally I think they were just kind of low on ideas a lot of what they were doing was just taking from Buffy they even had Alexis Dentisoff, in a character who threatened their version of Giles 😔
Legacies was a mistake never should have been made and definitely shouldn't have been a spin off of the vampire diaries especially with them knowing nobody important wanted to be a regular or even show up they had no foundation or reason for this spin off to exist it only exists because somebody wanted a modern buffy/vampire academy type show and it flopped Hope and the twins wasn't enough to hold a show either all they had was who they was related too going for them i personally would have rather had Klaus and kai then their Imitations😂
God i fucking hate this series with a passion . This series have no fucking point no stakes no story hell they wasted 3 different seasons trying to kill the same antagonist for fucking 3 season!!!
You have a evil company playing its role (Triad) and not doing anything interesting with it. they got interesting creatures like the Necromancer even Aurora and relevant character in TO. The tomb vampires in TVD S1 showed more than a whole bestiary, How regular vampires are more interesting that new supernaturals being intrdouced?. The only arcs I really enjoyed from this show were the Gemini Plot and Hope switching her humanity off because this what TVD universi is about. not guessing the weekly monster with a cheesy plots and Pedro making awful jokes
It most definitely was the most popular ship in legacies among the fans. The amount of edits hosie has on any social media (Instagram, tiktok, etc) has far more views/videos than any other ship. “Hosie” also trended almost every Thursday on twitter during S2 and 3. Several articles from different publications including buzz feed credits them as the best/most popular ship. They have more fanfics written about them/viewed than any other ship and much more. Regardless of personal opinion (including my own); it is a fact that hosie was the most popular ship and without hosie/josie the views tanked and the show got canceled.
Hopes obsession with Landon and her willingness to sacrifice everyones life just to be with him… got on everyones nerve. It ruined her character.
Same
Nope what got on our nerves was bunch of women characters . We missed Klaus and Elijah , Stefan , damon and other male characters.
@@Animalisticmonkeyyour nothing but a damn misogynistic there was literally more male characters then female characters in the show..
bruh what???? hows that misogynistic do you know what it means? ...ill help you it means you hate women just because he rather have more good male characters in the show dont mean he hate women and by the way your assessment of the show is dead wrong there's not more female characters in the show then others and on top of that the female acting in this show is just straight up corny nothing like elena rebbeca and hailey @@nw6243
HUH?did you seriously just say that when you watched 5 seasons OF THE ORIGINALS
All of Klaus' enemies should have been the villians for Hope.
real
That would have been wild!!
Or maybe a coven of powerful megahot witches who wants to steal the power of hope to bring on the apocalypse or sth
I truly believe that Inadu should have returned just to finish business with Hope like they did with Aurora not introducing cheesy monsters with dumb plots.
Right. Exactly.
But instead we got disgusting monsters who really serve no purpose other than make me not want to eat my food for at least a day after watching every episode 🤮
I rather preferred TVD & TO where the monsters were even more terrifying cuz they looked amazing but we knew they were evil.
I guess, but new tweens want the gay more than old school fans ever did so I don’t know that they even understood the audience they probably wanted to have 🤣
Well said
@@snakesnoteyes huh?
I know Hairs of the Night was more about kids and yet it was more mature
It was hard for me from the beginning. It was so tween and Scooby-Doo ish I was like , “what happened in the writing room!” I felt like I was literally watching it out of obligation because I was TVD and Originals fan and I really wanted to see what would happen with Hope and the Twins but I just had to stop lying to myself and stop watching it. Especially since Caroline was like always mentioned but like never there. I couldn’t deal with it.
same 😭 I stopped after season 2 and now I don't wanna watch the other two seasons at all.
The final season had that orginals feeling to it. The fact it got canceled just as it was getting good was wrong
BUT the last Originals seasons aren't pretty good.
So boring
Cant lie am only on Season 2 and i hate him so much hes just so undeserving of Hope

@@charmingcinema595at least tvd was enjoyable enough tbh, tvd didnt try to COPY BUFFY too much, it was more of a tribute. legacies however copied everything from buffy !
I checked the ratings and after Kaylee Bryant left, the show dropped almost 100 thousand viewers!
Yep! Though some writers denied it, Kaylees exit played a significant role in the shows cancellation.

If People only watch a show because of a ship, whether its canon or not, then the show has already failed.
This was a literal disney show.
I know i'm late but i just wanted to share my version of the show:
The first season would've fleshed the new characters more, make the fans love them, while Triad Industries tries to awake Vera, a necromancer from another dimension.
You should have been in the writers room 😱 I love this version there’s so much depth
Damon's children turning intro vampires would be spitting in stefan's grave.
i LOVED the original mystery of landon, the “why is the one person hope gets close to the one person she can never have” trope, then everything became about landon constantly dying and it ruined it. i like the landon was a big part, but hope IS the legacy. no one should be more centered than her.
All truth, no lies
@@Cloudyconfusionof all the problems the show had, not giving Hope another worthless and cliche love triangle plot wasnt one of them.
This show might have been good if it wasn't related to TVD or TO universe because we expected it to be similar. This could've have been a whole other story that Julie pec could have made to to take a break off the TVD universe and had time to process what to do with hopes storyline.
legacies just pissed me off from the beginning bc they fucked the originals ending to make legacies make sense
TO last seasons are like Legacies. The show changed its tone for ... we don't know.
This is the right storyline
The funny thing is I remember a Plec interview stating they had to nerf Damon supernatural power because weere too "supernatural and cheesy" and then we got THIS from her.
honestly such an underrated channel
Finaly someone made a video about this show.
Like the only things I liked about season 2 was Kai Parker coming back and the character Sebastian who of course they had to kill off as well 😒
I feel like a lot of it was due to the repeated cycle of Hope and Landon as well as the misuse and under development of the characters. Plus as a Hosie lover I feel that if it had become canon it would’ve improved the show a good bit. Plus way better writers were needed as well
i agree with e everything except i’m a hizzie shipper
Completely agree! Legacies had such an amazing foundation to build off of, but unfortunately fell flat.
I am not trying to throw shade at brett matthews but at same time you can thank him for the lack of tension/suspense on the show and he uses these two reasons as to why-
first off he claims how super dark tvd and originals was and wanted legacies to be the lighter of the show but to me, I dont recall that many super dark moments in either show, Im pretty sure what he is saying is oh they killed a bunch of protagonists so we're going to make our protagonists super safer cause the show had no problem offing monsters, bad guys and even innocent humans.
Of all The problems the show had, not giving Hope another worthless and cliche love triangle plot wasnt one of them.
I really don't know why I typed all of this 4 months after the post LOL
No offence to the actors tho ( after being offence KEKW) just my opinion from the little I watched of legacies.
I’ve never seen anything else vampire related and for whatever reason I love legacies
my biggest problem is the vandilazation of the lore, it just... what the fuck...
Please make another video now that they cancelled the series and we get no season 5! Your ideas are all spot on!
Old you’re right Alaric was totally the main guy and NOT Landon.
they should never of ended the originals for for legacies
,,and Alaric Salzman, played by Brat Matthews”😀😀😀
hated Landon so fucking much, he's so boring he's so bland, Hope was a great character and they ruined her character by making her whole personality be Landon, I have up after season 3 and it's a miracle I even held on that long
It’s not his fault they gave him cool powers that made him interesting just to take them away. He was actually cool in season 4
I loved the video keep it up ❤❤❤❤❤
honestly i love the monster of the week format of shows and had never really gotten into the originals series so the show was pretty fresh and chill for me at the beginning. i quit when hope got possessed because i had no clue whoever the fuck the villain was because it seemed like it was too tied to the originals universe and i didn't bother finding out. also, the viewer base for the originals were much more mature compared to who this show catered to so i'm assuming most who were watching felt the same way that i did if they hadn't seen the originals like myself
And Molivore shit was too long for nothing. 😂😅
Im not gonna say there werent good things in legacies, each season had at least a handful of things I think to like, that being said the tragedy of the show, the core problem is not one singular thing as much as it is a layer of thing that took away what could have been greater than it was portrayed.
To make a long story short, I feel all they had to do was deliver on the original premise of these young students either fighting for control of their powers to be good or losing control and letting the darker aspects take over, thats all they needed
you didnt need the following which bogged down the show overall-
i have mixed feelings on monster of week, i liked it and disliked it, i did think it needed some improvements
no overfocus on landon, the phoenix thing contradicted prior lore that vampires and kind of ghosts which were established as the only immortals in tvdu, he might have remained a son of malivore idk
alaric would be a guest star at best, in fact there wouldnt be a headmaster, that job was useless on the show cause the students always rebelled against him
ken, ben, lynn and jen could have been an old coven of witches but not labelled as gods
no muse witches, cleo could have played another character
no prophetic storylines
the salvatore school concept was pointless cause the school aspect took a backseat and frankly I didnt care for it anyway.
ben geurens would have still played necromancer but also the witch who created the merge curse, he would definetely be more threatening than what we got
do not bring in gimmick episodes that also slowed down character plot
malivore should have remained a flesh and blood golem merely created from mud but doesnt remain mud, his dimension he sends them too isnt made of mud either, he still could have turned on his triad creators but as a side effect of natures as opposed to the explanation they gave us that I didnt think made sense, he would have been able to attack and kill vamps, wolves and witches as well as all their monster subspecies, he would have never remained a puddle, ryan clarke would have been his human form. After realizing how he is immune to all these ways of defeat and is indestructible hope figures to fight fire with fire and becomes tribrid and kills him
hope working on control of the first born mikaelson curse as it comes into effect with her as a teenager as opposed to making her so well crafted it at by the beginning of the show it made her too perfect
there were other issues probably but those were main ones I think needed fixing and it would have been imo a better show
if there were ever a show to remake in this era of remakes it be legacies to fit the original blueprint better
I very episode revolves around a new “monster of the week” and it was so cheesy it was like watching scooby soo each new episode
I would love to see original and TVD facing off against the monster they fight it would be a more enjoyable time
Landon should have stayed dead when he was first killed. It would've had a better impact for Hopes character arc.
I wonder how much is affected by the fact that the average age of CW viewers is 58! Lol
My turning point was One of the monsters was Dragon very bad one 🤣
And there is also SANTA 🤣
My reaction was Damon’s meme He is saying Wha a a t 😅
flabbergasted that you think hope quickly became a fan favourite in originals xD
I'd like to see spin-off about delena daughter?
Why? She is a regular human...
@@javierlopez9789 is delena children travellers because elena is Katherine descendants and Damon is silas distant nephew?
Mama you forgot something Sebastian and Lizzie everyone want them to end up together but they f up
Only bad thing about this show was Lanndon. That guy is the worst actor of all time.
Fans like you what make TVDU fans so annoying throwing shade at an actor for no reason. And he is a good actor he just wasn’t giving good writing.
The fall began when they off Klaus..Klaus & Caroline shoulda been end goal.
Make more you’re great at it
Thank you! I’m just not sure what topics to talk about in another video lol. Any suggestions?
@@charmingcinema595 Cobra Kai, TOP BOY, the originals, teen wolf, animal kingdom, all American, p valley, Vikings, the last kingdom, and sons of anarchy
this was sick :)
thank you so much! 💞
Seeing as noone is talking bad about Season 4 here and most of the edits of this show being from Season 4... Im guessing Season 4 was good?
Yeah, for the most part
Alaric is to blame too telling his students not to drink human blood be realistic and I agree he is boring
So the whole Legacies with it monsters was nonsense,
They should've made inadu the main supervillian
Great video!
4 seasons in nutshell
Landon dying-not dying
MALEWORE 💩
every episode new monster, which dies very easily, just like the god in the end
No doubt also suffers from too much of a good thing. Nobody had a plan, and people were already not happy about how TVD and The Originals ended. So your audience was just hoping for a cameo.
I want The spinoff and background history of Katherine Pierce ❤
Was a great first video
From the second episode i knew it would suck with the monsters of the week. Tvd and TO had a much better structure and story telling
Sorry but Alaric Saltzman’s cast is called Matthew Davis not Brett Matthews
Let's be for real lizzie and her jokes carried the show😍U can't tell me you didn't laugh when she say something slay 💝
As someone looking to pursue video essay where do you source your footage I'm having trouble with that
Just search up scenepacks of a show
@@dvreaux and I liked you vid hope you make more
Heirs of the Night was a better show! (It didn't do as well but it was a better show), personally I think they were just kind of low on ideas a lot of what they were doing was just taking from Buffy they even had Alexis Dentisoff, in a character who threatened their version of Giles 😔
you CANNOT talk about legacies, without talking about hosie!!!!
Legacies was a mistake never should have been made and definitely shouldn't have been a spin off of the vampire diaries especially with them knowing nobody important wanted to be a regular or even show up they had no foundation or reason for this spin off to exist it only exists because somebody wanted a modern buffy/vampire academy type show and it flopped
Hope and the twins wasn't enough to hold a show either all they had was who they was related too going for them i personally would have rather had Klaus and kai then their Imitations😂
The character landon kirby wasn't worse actually it had a lot of potential .... but the problem was writing.....
Rise ??? The show was a MASSIVE failure when it started
Am sorry there was a rise😂😂😂??
Hosie wasn’t the most popular ship among the fans nor the writers
It most definitely was the most popular ship in legacies among the fans. The amount of edits hosie has on any social media (Instagram, tiktok, etc) has far more views/videos than any other ship. “Hosie” also trended almost every Thursday on twitter during S2 and 3. Several articles from different publications including buzz feed credits them as the best/most popular ship. They have more fanfics written about them/viewed than any other ship and much more. Regardless of personal opinion (including my own); it is a fact that hosie was the most popular ship and without hosie/josie the views tanked and the show got canceled.
It was??
its honestly a shame
They definitely ruin the franchise.
I cried when Klaud and Elijah died, i was expecting alot and then we got this garbage of a series
Thank you for your astute review. It saved me from wasting my time to watch it.
