Born and raised in Olongapo. I moved to US when I was 10 years old and I haven’t been back yet. I can’t wait to visit soon. ❤
Looks nothing like when I was there. Takes me back to my younger years
My home port was here from 1962 to 1966, I served, played here, and deployed from here all over the far east including Viet Nam. I loved Olongapo like no other place in the world. I learned to speak Tagalog and wanted to become a citizen, but was sent back to the U.S. after my time in the service ended. I've always regretted not staying. This place felt like my real home! Of course, it was nothing like what I'm looking at now!!

I was there 50 years ago 1973) when my ship, the Blue Ridge, docked several times at Subic.
My old stomping grounds from 1984 to 1987..Love this country and the people so many great memories..planning in a couple years moving there..the only country I have ever known to be relaxed and enjoyed it..miss the people, ladies, beer, and mostly the beaches..oh and the market have ex sister in law who has table there for clothes..here and in San Antonio..

My first time visiting Olongapo was in 1986 and without a doubt this visit opened my eyes to how big and great our world is, although I know how needless it is but I still just gotta to say how GRATEFUL I am for my life!!!
‘68-‘71 still can pick out a few familiar spots. Had a few Phillipino pals, wonderfully generous people.

I was born and grew up in Olongapo City. i went to St. Joseph from kinder garden till 1st year high school. i was an altar boy sacristan at St. Joseph Church, i finished my high school at Gordon heights school. i lived and grew up in de leon sander street gordon heights. and i never been home for almost 25 years now. i used to remember Hot city disco and California jam disco at magsaysay drive. . thanks Krypto Trekker for this video that made me cry in tears and did made me remember that i was once .... a Batang Gapo. god bless and more power..

I was stationed there back in 1975 to 77. the best place to have a good time for a single person. Cannot be compared with any U.S. bases anywhere in the world. I will definitely ask to be stationed there again if I have my chance.
Oh, honey, you are 32 years too late. It closed in 1990 during the Mount Pinatubo volcanic eruption and never opened as a US Naval Station, sorry.

Wow! Gapo is my hometown still here since I was born in 1993 Di ko naabutan ung mga panahon ng mga americans but even after they left naabutan ko pa nung bata ako ung PX duty free shop. Every sunday with my lolas we will shop there. I miss the old times ❤️❤️❤️

The sidewalks and byways are all littered with ubiquitous vendors from Mindanao.
