Did anyone notice that Dean didn’t put all the screws into the main board? He missed the upper right hand corner one. It did fall out when he shook the radio. Actually, missed a couple! Dean, thank you for all these videos!
My jobsite radio is called JBL Charge 4. Has been dropped into paintbuckets, blown over by paint sprayers, sanding dust, plaster spray. Works perfectly, costs about half of what a Makita jobsite radio costs (In fact, barely anything more than a price of a single Makita 5AH battery), bluetooth range is triple that of a Makita radio and comes with a battery included.
I think I found the rotary encoder that is on that board. EN11-HSM1AF15 should be the part number if it is. It cost $2.84 Not saying buying the individual component would make more sense.
We should start a drinking game, e.g.: every time Dean says 'naught' or 'that's her done'.😏 Meanwhile, I'm truly impressed by the depth & breadth of Makita's parts (spares) support .
nice one Dean, thats gonna help me fix mine, i know my pot is fine its just a loose button can i fix it from the front? iv got to try. thank you and keep well buddy
Hi Dean, Can you see the specs on the back of the speaker. I'm wanting to buy one with blown speakers but want to see how much a replacement will be first. Cheers.
a single speaker costs around 20 euro. SE01620771 but the speakers rarely fail unless it gets a fall of punctured. id bet the main board inside is faulty.
Hands on experience, reading service manuals, internet forums, and TH-cam videos. That is how I learned to repair small engines and outdoor power equipment. There is no substitute for experience.
I'm sure Dean found the missing screws and opened it back up after filming. I can't believe all the nitpicking in this thread. Dean has skills beyond imagination, great work.
Hi mate. Love your content. I used to be always fixing my tools when I was on the tool. Quick question. I have DMR115. The screen doesn't work because of impact. Is it replaceable or is it part of the main circuit board? Thanks heaps.
Did you solve this issue? Neighbour gave me one to look at and ass soon as you plug the battery, the blue backlight comes on without pressing the power button but no response to any controls. I’m expecting capacitor issue or corrosion under the shield on the back side of the screen.
@Infiniti25 no I haven't. I put the battery in or even the mains plug, when I go to turn it the screen turns on, but there's no display. It's pot luck as to what station I tune into
If you are repairing for yourself, yes, but for a commercial repair service, he has to charge labour and tax and is most likely only going to replace parts available from the manufacturer. He is very unlikely going to spend half a day testing every component and then replace a few components which cost pennies as he will need to charge the labour to the client. By the time the repair bill is calculated, the client could have bought a new site radio cheaper with a new warranty than paying for the repair of an old radio.
😮 WOW this thing is used, abused & put away wet & dirty! Jeez man, maybe try to not completely paint and plaster your radio. That should help with its longevity & ability to function correctly...ie play music - its one & only job! Dirt & electronics don't mix, despite it being a 'work' radio, you can't completely cover it like this and expect it to work a long time.🛠️🔧🔩👍🏻👌🏻😎🎶🎵🔊🎼
4:24 "Grab hold of your knob and give it a good pull". Nice.
Sound advice."grab hold of your knob....and give it a good pull".indeed.:)
Makita definitely great choice for repairability.

That cool but I think the most of us get their equipment from their boss. And having all Makita makes same then.

Or "your wee pin"
👍 love the screw in the end of the aerial. Got a bit of wire on my site radio. Thanks good fix
Dean, love your work. is it possible to do anything about how much bass these have got!?
Did he listen to that thing inside the mixer? How does one get a radio this dirty?! I could understand the tools, barely, but a radio?
Love the video's, just want to mention that was not a potentiometer, it was a Rotary Encoder.
nice one Dean, thats gonna help me fix mine, i know my pot is fine its just a loose button can i fix it from the front? iv got to try. thank you and keep well buddy
Yea it's just bolted onto the front
Thanks again Dean!!!!!
Hi pal great video I’ve got a dab radio but for some reason it won’t play dab any ideas as why will play fm any much appreciated cheers

How did u learn all this dean I watch every video you put out

Have you fixed a wut02u? Mine has the vac constantly on.
With my OCD of keeping my tools clean I'd HAVE to clean that while repairing it. LOL
Me too, I hate dirty tools. I clean all of my tools before putting them away. If I buy any used power tools, I strip them down and clean them
Might replace the speakers in mine, see if i can find better ones. Hopefully not too problematic
who is easier to repair or get parts for usually? bosch or makita?
Nice video ,I got Makita radio the switch on/off bottom is playing some times do you know how fix all the best
Hi Dean what is the screwdrivers bit you use to get the screws out inside the radio back cheers kev
The older ones are t15 and the new radios use ph2
Hi Dean thanks for that just repaired my milwaukee inpacked driver thanks for the videos
What is the screw head type & size of the deep ones in the back?
Some zre y15 and some are ph2
Hi where do you find Makita spare parts?
Thanks
Welcome

Wouldn't be worth it, the screen is part of the main board cost around 120 to buy.
I have that radio but my screen has gone. Would it be worth repairing or just getting a new screen?
Did you solve this issue?

@@alexsargeant2147 at least you get a station…this one is just blue screen and silence from memory (it’s been in bits for a while now)
great job
I miss that radio. That was a damn good one! I had the black one. Which one did you guys have?
Great fix!
Did you ever work at the DeWalt stack radio?
no parts availible for them apart from the knob and power lead. Cannot get anything for inside the unit
Do you gave every imaginable part it stock? 😬
It looks like it was in a only fan apartment 😂
Nice work!
Now, howsabout giving the poor thing a bit of a clean? ;)
very simple
Comment s'appelle l'embout de vis a 2:24
It's not a pot, it's an encoder.
4:26 Ohhh Matron 😜
Dean: Wee quicky for you.
*video is **14:46** long*
Me: Press X to doubt (not that I complain mind you).
a Plastic bag could do wonders in saving these
You forgot to install 1 screw of the circuit board.
It flopped out at the end when shaking the loose plaster from the inside. You can see it at 11:42
This looks like another one of those jobs that needs you to use all three of your hands!
How can a radio be too expensive to repqir the components cost pennies

@@stevekent3991 thanks for the clarification
Shame on you. You didn't put 2 of those screws back in the board.
Look again
The top right screw is not tightened. I am disappointed.
joke :)
good job
Someone buy Dean a magnetic screw tray - every time he chucks those screws it stresses me out!
My old work colleague said he left his girlfriend with a face like a plasterers radio.
Bit of a sloppy repair from you there Dean. Your customers deserve better. 3/10.
Yeah dont like this as so much i unsubscibed
Your work has no care, no sweetness. It's an odd thing.👎🏿

It's an encoder not a potentiometer 😉
Who cares what he called it..isn't it fixed
@billenglish797 people who want to learn about electronics
@@smashyrashy this also help to test the components, and buy the new component if needed 😉
@@smashyrashy yeah I get that he just made a mistake he knows what it's called
I’ve cleaned the potentiometer/ encoder with switch cleaner twice now after it stopped working however it works dust and rain must affect it
