the satisfaction statistics on vaginoplasty are very good. much better than most other elective major surgeries. so take heart! i have my orchiectomy consult next week, which is all that is available to me for the next few years while i care for my elderly parents in the midwest. look for dr jamie’s recent video covering the research on vaginoplasty. she just had her own procedure a couple of months ago. ❤

@MalibuBarbiieDelish I'm currently taking 3ml estrogen and 200mg progesterone daily, which has knocked my testosterone down to 0.4nmol, without any tblocker.
I'm also so scared about bottom surgery, but I don't feel at this moment that I'm desperate to have it done, I would like some FFS and breast augmentation 1st.

So far, I haven’t wanted any surgery beyond a possible Orchiectomy, but while watching this video I came to the realization that I haven’t really considered getting a Zero-depth Vaginoplasty. My main motivation for getting ANY surgery would be cosmetic, to remove bulk and not for sex. This might make sense for me, since I already have grandchildren and am not looking for a romantic partner. Zero-depth with little or no external labia would definitely allow more fashion options, since I would no longer have a telltale bulge. I think that would also remove any concern about the need to dilate post surgery.

Here’s my 2 cents after having SRS 9 months ago (inversion + peritoneum). I knew I wanted it long before deciding to transition, but got nervous about it in the weeks prior to my surgery date. I just wanted it gone so badly that I honestly didn’t care if I lost sensation or ended up looking like a train wreck. Recovery was rough but also a blur because I was kinda out of it and life was just dilating, napping, and getting through the pain. At about 1.5 months I was able to stop taking pain meds, and around that same time it didn’t look so nasty down there anymore and my libido came back. I went back to work at 3 months, but really wasn’t 100% until 4 months. I did not have any complications (besides a possible infection solved with meds, and some wound dehiscence that my body fixed itself), and had no issues with dilating. As long as you fully commit to your surgeons dilating instructions without straying you should be fine, but that can be easier said than done. I had sessions that were fine and others that hurt for 30mins where it took all my willpower not to give up. Now, I’m dilating twice a day and it’s no big deal, kinda like brushing my teeth.
I achieved an O at around 3 months, and let me tell you it was a relief. Despite not caring about being able to do that going in, and rarely using my old equipment beforehand, it is super frustrating when you do go for it and can’t get it. Had to totally relearn what works, and it takes a lot longer to reach now. And it feels completely different too. I have not tried anything penetrative yet though, because I’m just not interested with still having to dilate twice a day.
Lastly, I’m glad I had it done. It’s really helped my confidence and dysphoria. Like, I was seriously looking at FFS before and now I’m not sure I want it because I’m so much more comfortable in my body. I can also just be in underwear and look in the mirror and feel so incredibly happy. That said, I’d give it like an 85% satisfaction rating for now because it doesn’t look great and I’d be nervous to go nude around a partner (but not like that was easy to do before anyway). I’m hopefully getting a cosmetic revision to fix that though, if insurances obliges. Oh, and I’m 28 and my surgeon “had plenty of tissue to work with” if that has any bearing.

    Hi Malibu
I had the surgery myself, privately in the UK
There are 5 surgeons in total in the UK 4 both private and nhs and 1 private only
Nuffield Brighton where I went to there is 2 surgeons there, it’s both private and NHS. There is 1 surgeon that is in process of retiring. The 2 surgeons are Mr Coker and Mr Larner. Mr Coker is in the process of retiring
Parkside London have 2 surgeons both private and NHS. Ms Rashid and Mr Bellringer
I went with Mr Coker and I have been overall happy with my results, am 7 months post op, I was a private patient but I do know NHS patients that have been with most of these surgeons
The NHS as far as am aware only offers shallow depth or full depth via penile inversion only. I don’t believe you can get PPT or colon on NHS, though I wouldn’t recommend colon as the first choice, that’s my opinion
Both hospitals I know for Brighton at least you have a private room, I think same in London
Note even for NHS patients the surgery is not carried out in an NHS hospital, it’s usually done in a private hospital
It’s important to remember that things can go wrong and going into the process of deciding if this surgery is right for you is very important. It’s great to see the positive but it’s important to know what can go wrong. Surgeons of course will do what they can to avoid these but sometimes the control is out of their hands

I don't know anything about healthcare in the UK, nor hardly anything of what's happening on this side of the pond as of late. My GCS was in 2012 and I had to pay out of pocket. Since I had a well-paying job and was dedicating most of my budget on transition, I could afford the best doctor who was doing this at the time. I'm very happy today. But there are plenty of horror stories out there.
In retrospect, I believe that self-knowledge is key. I had options as far as the procedure goes, and one of them was to get a type of op that wouldn't require dilation. I sometimes wish I had gotten that. But it depends on what relationships you plan to have or indeed if you plan to have any, and how sure you are of your post-op plans. Good luck.

I would actually say a private clinic doesn't guarantee anything just because they are private. you should be able to ask to get in touch with other patients they have operated on to weigh up what results could be achieved and were there any complications they went through after surgery. They're may also be reviews written by their patients after surgery but always try to verify if they are for real. meeting up with others in person who have used your surgeon before would put your mind at rest if possible. having a good mental positive attitude goes a long way to recovery. Best wishes Malibu in whatever you decide in your life journey ahead. ♥

I think you may have been watching a lot of the less fortunate surgery result videos out there. There are a tremendous amount of Vaginoplasty Surgery VLogs that are filled with very happy people with terrific results. It is important to be aware of all the possible risks and outcomes, but remember to vary your research. :) You have a bit of misinformation around some things I noticed.
For one thing, Dialation is a lifetime thing with a big asterisk there. As you progress and after the first year your dialation schedule is cut down drastically. Typically starting out at a few times a day, but then tapering to once a day and eventually once a week. Even less if you have a partner and are in an active sex life.
Also, a large number of people have reported that recovery was relatively painless and was mostly just more a matter of discomfort than pain. You mentioned you went through FFS, and from all reports I have heard, FFS is 10x more painful than Vaginoplasty.

  • @Marfisa-i4i

When doing your research on the Internet, there is a sampling bias you should take into account: people with complications or regret are more likely to feel compelled to tell their stories than people who had a smooth sailing. Not to mention that horror stories of regret or complications get eagerly amplified. The regret rates for gender affirming surgery are quite low across multiple studies. And the reasons for regret include things like “I never wanted bottom surgery, my boyfriend talked me into it” or “my family doesn’t accept me transitioning”. But at the end of the day, it’s your body, your life, no doctor or well-meaning friends or strangers on the Internet or partner can tell you what’s right for you. If you feel this is something you need or want, do it. If you feel you’re not ready yet and you need to mull it over some more, then it’s also okay to postpone the operation and give yourself some more time to figure yourself out. Either way, best of luck!

Recovery varies a lot. For me, no real issues at all. Only real issue was severe trapped wind for about a day and a half starting about 6 hours post surgery.
For operations, the main places who do it are Brighton and Parkside, and both of these pretty much only have private rooms. Charing Cross has a mix, but not sure how much surgery they are doing at the moment.
There are potential complications to all surgery. Of those I know who have had surgery (a lot), none have had surgical revisions. Silver nitrate for granulation is not that unusual, but normally just a 1 off at the post op checkup. I know 1 person who had major problems.
Dilation varies. 3 times a day immediatly post surgery but reduces to once a day fairly quickly, then down to once a week or so (and plenty get away with doing it less often than that).

I've had a lot of issues with my weight, due to one of my ways of coping for years was eating, so I've got a huge barrier to surgery. But like I'm using that time just to be certain what feels right, so that when I get to the point where I can make the decision, I'm making the right decision for me. I have some worries just because of having had hand surgery 3 times. The first was to fix a tendon issue, the second was to fix issues from the outcome of the first, then the third was again to fix those same issues, which got worse thanks to 4 years of it getting worse during the pandemic, to the point that the surgeon couldn't fix it and my one finger is just messed up. So I'm very worried about bad outcomes because of that.
On a slightly different topic, do you have any pointers on any voice stuff? I've tried a lot of online things and NHS speech therapy, but haven't really had any progress and often get misgendered over the phone at work because of it.

15 months preop from Bangkok. First off you must have a choice of surgery. It is you body. Secondly I never had much pain at all. Even after coming out of hospital and having dilation twice every day was not an issue. Yes any surgery is a risk but you are putting yourself in the hands of skilled people. It should not be the first time they have done this type of surgery. Complications can occur but again most of these are easily fixed. I personally suffered with granulation which could have been fixed quite quickly if the medical people here in Australia had used Silver Nitrate earlier.
Penile inversion is the go to and will give you about 5 inches depth (this all depends on the length of your penis). The next procedure which can give more depth is done by using a film of skin from inside your body and of course the one Lee Francis recommends as a LAST resort. Yes dilating is for life but less frequent after 2 years or so. I hope you read this and it helps.

I will have a vulvaplasty in hopefully about 6 to 7 years from now. Not interested in sex so a vaginal canal is not important to me. Fewer complications this way. No chance of pooh coming out from there as a result. The idea of diluting every day for up to a year doesn't exactly thrill me either.
