Fun Fact: If you tap ‘no’, it’ll ask you if you’re sure. You need to say ‘no’ 4 times in order to not get the star. (And in the last Mario party game, you only had to say ‘no’ 3 times to skip the star)
I find that odd. Three is generally the standard for things like this. Maybe they misinterpreted thrice being enemy action as meaning that if someone did it thrice, their controller had probably been stolen.
I'll never forget the time I went to a friend's house to play superstars and found myself in the situation where saying "no" to the star was actually the correct play.
I had just barely enough movement left to reach boo, but not enough coins to buy the star *and* steal one. Nobody else could reach the star before the game ended, so I declined the star and used the money to pay boo instead. (Stealing coins wouldn't have had an impact).
Sadly, this very satisfying play wasn't enough for me to win, but it did land me in second place.

@@K-ROW Back in the day before most modern social media platforms, a man named Steve with a personal website (called 'The Sneeze') would make blog posts about strange things: Trying and reviewing very obscure foods, day-to-day events, etc.
On one particular day, he decided to try and abuse the brand new online pizza order form for... I want to say Domino's? So he unchecked every single option, even the cheese and sauce, and then added JUST beef, and JUST to the left side (as if he was doing a half-and-half pizza).
The result was exactly that, just naked dough with random beef chunks scattered on half of it. It was terribly sad to look at, but at the same time VERY funny. The 'None Pizza with Left Beef' became an early-2000s meme, which then blew up again after being reposted to Tumblr years later, and still gets referenced today.

I think knowing brain rot is less about age and more about taste. The number of times people double my age have used weird new slang on me is surprisingly high.
