This is one of my favorite GWP’s. I hit the threshold twice (they released it again) and I bought two from eBay. Buying from EBay might be the more economical way to go considering the price wall.
I really did like, I was happy when they did the 2nd run because I thought I missed my chance the first time. Switching to eBay I think is the smarter choice however, unless you're buying big sets and getting the GWPs along with them, going the eBay route will save you so much.
@@studless I think this paywall is going to backfire as I just save up my purchases until there is a GWP that I want. This means less impulse purchases. I am not sure why they wouldn’t just make small, affordable, fun sets. I would buy multiples for me and some for my children.

I absolutely agree. Classic stuff should be common and not price locked. I love bionicle, i was gifted a whole tub of em from a friend. I would like the GWP without paying 50$ on the aftermarket. Its quite annoying (also im bad at saving money)
This is like getting three classic sets in one. On the after market you can pick this up for $50. You can’t get the original sets these are based on for $50. I think more themes should get miniaturized versions.

If it compels you to buy something you don't want to get this set, that's either excellent marketing strategy, or really stupid on your part. GWP's are put at certain spending limits depending on the value of the set you're getting for free. I get that you want a set that's worth $20 with a $50 purchase, but it's not going to work that way. If you're getting a $20 set with a $100 purchase, that's 20% you're getting extra at no cost. They could also have offered double VIP/Insider points, and then you don't get this awesome set.
@@bloodymarvelous4790 I think you’re mistaking my issue with GWP in general. I really don’t mind if they continue the practice, I’m getting free sets with big orders anyways, so it’s a win win. My main issue is the TYPE of set they’re doing this with: classic homages. I think it’s a little skeezey that the only way to get some of those replicas is by buying $200 over a separate theme, some not even tied to the GWP altogether. A moving truck with a Jazz Club? Sure, no problem. But Tahu only available for over $100 purchases? Cmon now, they know people have been killing for more bionicle and that’s just kinda dirty, especially after they just finished their 90th anniversary. So my main problem is the type of set getting excluded, and I’m wondering how we can make that type more accessible to the general public. (My main idea being, what if you made micro build homages accessible, but keep the exact replicas as GWP if they really want to)

Ever since then, I had to put myself on a diet of only one $100+ set a year, and now i just don't even buy those because LEGO likes to suck our wallets dry rather than give us affordable play opportunities. Sorry to complain, but thank you for saying out loud what was on my mind. I could have just said, "attest."
No, you're completely valid. I think they know to price up certain licensed themes because people will shell out the big bucks for them (even when the buyers understand themselves, its a shitty situation all around and I ain't blaming any fans for wanting sets). They could earn a lot of goodwill by pricing certain sets lower, but do they even need the goodwill right now? That's a way bigger question that I'm not even prepared to answer haha.
i remember wanting to collect all the classic space lego sets until i went on ebay and looked at the prices and y'know honestly i think i'm fine with my $10 lego city police car
So like what happens if you buy something to get the GWP and return it un-opened? Do they compel you to rerun the GWP as well? Surely I can’t be the first person to have thought about this so I wonder what the official policy is.
@@studless lol, I googled it and *apparently* they will bill you the MSRP of the GWP if you don’t include it in your return, which will in most cases be cheaper than what you can buy it for on the secondary market. So assuming you don’t abuse this too often such that your local LEGO store flags and bans you (which I assume is something they can do) it can be a roundabout way of “buying” GWP’s directly from Lego.
Adam, I have a serious matter we need to talk about. Where the hell do you store all of that. Financially wise people can afford that much of Lego sets, BUT NOT A CASTLE TO KEEP IT IN.
My deep horrible secret is I build them, look at them for 3 weeks, and then take them apart and bag all the loose pieces together. I have a little shelf that just rotates Lego builds for the month, as I have no place to actually store them built lol. I remove all the air from the bag, label it with the set name and number, then store it in a big plastic bin with a bunch of other sets. I might make a video on it sometimes, because it's a bit of a process.
