    Really pleased to see Farke experimenting a bit. I didn't necessarily disagree with his tactics last year, but he only really had his plan A and then plan Z where he threw on 17 strikers, with nothing in between.
    3 at the back makes quite a lot of sense for our team, considering we have wingers that love to cut inside, and it does also open the possibility of playing two strikers, which might show Piroe's strengths a lot better.

      😂plan Z - actually I would argue that he had a strategy. he said that the goal was to achieve stability and coherence. In my opinion it was impressive to see our coach thinking long term and optimising his more or less limited resources when the team had been decimated by the events of the previous seasons. Let’s see if the building process bears more fruit this season. Plan z is still an option though! 😂

    I think that even if we don't start with that formation we could finish with it, especially the second half with Gnonto lwb if we needed a goal, bit more structure to it than just chucking loads of attackers on like it felt at times last season

    I thought in that second half we were trying to do the trendy 3241 that big teams are doing with gnonto back on his favourite left with summer in the half spaces

    Totally agree with your assessment especially with ampadu he did fantastic last season but we saw in the final his mentality was to step out and it cost us a goal . I think if he plays in the middle we dominate most teams. I still think we need a goal scorer smodicks would have been perfect adam Armstrong profile that just scores a goal gets us on the front foot and we know how good we are then .

    Nice break down mate. I think another thing about playing 3 at the back is that when you recycle possession at the back and the opponent tries to press the back 3 they have to commit more men to the press which leaves space in the middle to play into after the press is beaten. Also with Wing Backs high up it takes the wingers out of other teams, it makes them less dangerous because they're tasked more with helping out against our wing backs rather than attacking. these kind of 3 at the back tactics have been used really well in the past by teams like brighton and more recently by Bayer leverkusen. the 5 and 5 setup makes the organization and pressing pretty simple, the back 5 are responsible for the defensive shape and the front 5 are counter pressing on loss of possession. The back 5 can consist of the 3 CB and 2 CM or it could be 3 CB and the 2 wing backs depending on the kind of counters the opponents are trying to use against us. When we're against those kind of teams that sit back i would imagine it will be a 4231 and a 433 but when were against teams who want to have a go and press us high i think farke will go with that 3 at the back so we can recycle the ball better at the back and then eventually play a progressive pass into the next phase leaveing 3 or 4 opposing players no longer goal side after their press was beaten.

    Hi Locky, I think that a back 3 is our future this season. Also, I think midfield 3 of Gruev on the left, Ampadu in the centre, and Rothwell on the right is ideal. Think Aarronson could be a good wingback option as much like Firpo. He suits this. A mobile front 2 would make us dangerous. 3-5-2 just suits our squad.

    Hello 👋 Locky good to see Leeds United 🦚🇮🇨 back again full 🏟️ house good to see the young gun's Harry Gray the Spit of Archie hopefully Daniel Farke gets him in and around the first team on the bench coming on sometimes might be good. We actually scored from a corner 🙌at long last 😍 pleased to see Joe Rothwell tall lad.Pleased Daniel Farke was experimenting with formations. With the opener against Pompey the team will look different if report's are correct Mr Bogel has had his medical and Leeds have him which will be fantastic 🙏😍 thanks for your match analysis and formations of the team. Wober for me upsets the dressing room for me so hopefully he's on his way out. Ethan Ampadu would be good in midfield looking forward to the new season respect to you Locky a man who knows his stuff marching on together we all love Leeds 🦚🇮🇨🤍💛💙

    I called for Dan James wing back not last season, but the one before when he had no end product. He's tenacious, fast and has great stamina and now has end product in assists and back post positioning for tap ins or headers (as does firpo). The extra CB gives more cover, which suits both James and Firpo. I'm just not sure on Piroe. I'd love to see us snap up a bullish striker like Awonyi out of somewhere, or play Joseph as the main striker supported by Joffy, Rutter, Gnonto/Cry if we keep them. Gruev for me had probably one great game and the hype carried him a bit too much. I'd love to see Ampadu in CB, he needs to play fast long balls where he can. I think Struijk is capable of long balls, but lacks confidence. Rodon for me is an old school meat and potatoes.

    • @ardentspy
      @ardentspy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      James is a terrible defender and we don't need to play like this. What we need is more verticaility. You're calling for even less than we now do. James even deeper. Gnonto deeper. Agonisingly slow and easy to counter tactics with a midfield that is easy to outnumber because for some reason we have an extra defender.

    • @jodylufc4481
      @jodylufc4481 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ardentspy Gnonto deeper? Wing backs don't do much defending, that's why you have 3 CBs. You kind of have 1 less defender cos its 343. The wing backs do a lot of coverage so you need to have really fit ones or sub them half way. Are you Joe Wainman cos you sound like your on crack?

  • @kelvinengland3991

    It looked very Xabi Alonso. I said so on JJ stream and his answer was Alonso didnt invent a 352. I said its nothing to do with the formation its the way we built up. James and Firpo played the Frimpong abd Grimaldo roles, Ampadu played the Kousonnou role at wide centre back pushing up on the right. The rotation up top and the way Gruev played the Xhaka role.

      @@thesegundovolante I wouldn't say he's thick but it was a bit dismissive to just say he didn't invent 352....it was 3421 anyway but yea. I was noticing the build up positionally and it was very reminiscent of Leverkusen. Not a bad thing at all

    Farke with a Plan B ? Slap me sideways with a yorkshire pudding.... I dont believe it ...... Seriously though, its about time we had the possibility of some variation. As you show, it worked with various combinations of players. All we need is for him to start using the bench and making earlier tactical subs and it looks like we have some progress. Agree some of the players in positions were not optimum but some seemed naturals so hopefully the squad is settled and augmented. Will i have to stop slagging off Farke after every game??? Anyway superb video.
    Oh - and not keen on the shirts - not the correct blue and no middle yellow stripe.

  • @CPPublications

    Don't forget Aaronson
    I think Woeber stays,not only does it give us the option of 3 at back but he also plays left back,so gives us back up there, it's an obvious option to keep and use Woeber. What's happened to the Idea that the players should stick to their best positions?

    • @ardentspy
      @ardentspy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It doesn't make any sense as a tactic. When Farke coached Norwich they'd play with three at the back in rest defence because one fullback would go and one would stay. But this would make us even less vertical than we are, and that doesn't suit our players at all.

    This was my bigget issue when I saw a back 3. I don't thnk we have enough CBs for it. Assuming Wober goes and Amapadu stays in midfield I would want 2 back up CBs to replace Cooper and Cresswell. Changing to a back 3 makes that even worst.

    Every body has been whining we need 2 RBs, we need 2 LBs.. I've been stating, we don't if Farke uses a back 3. OK, it was preseason, and it was Harrogate Town.... not exactly Burnley or Luton in full swing, no disrespect to Harrogate Town obviously, but our formation looked workable.
    If Ampadu is in the back 3, I'd prefer him to step out into a CDM role, when we're in possession, leaving Rodon and whomever is at the LCB position to defend, this will allow Ampadu to be a 6, whilst it permits Farke to implement 1 less pivot in front of the back 3, meaning we can potentially have another attacker, maybe an 8 or another 10 alongside Rutter.
