This is a first class performance by any standard of jazz music. Mary is superb and much underrated and not recognized for her talent and musical artistry. I absolutely adore her singing.
What pure jazz singing sounds like .. the voice as an improvisational instrument .. Mary never fails to deliver .. Always a thrill to listen to .. Thanks for posting!
Masterful control of tone and timing. She delays some lines until it seems they are not going to fit into the measure, compelling the listener's full attention, raising the stakes for the thrilling payoff of her ultimate vocal delivery. This elevates the potency of the melody beyond the straight on the beat renditions of some earlier interpreters. Sweet!
What a classy elder my mother is classy our people are so beautiful.

Hi Linda Kay
I own quite a few of her albums. Great voice, incredible singer, in my top five of female vocalist.👍🏽

Sterling!!! REAL Jazz
Superb ✨️🎶
I hear so much Carmen McRae in her voice and phrasing. Mary Stallings is superb!
And Nancy Wilson, shades of Billie Holiday and some Dinah Washington but it all adds up to Mary Stallings.
This is a standout version!
Sounds like Nancy Wilson
