There are 5 movements of Wai Kru (paying respect to guru) performed here but in actual facts, there are more varieties.
1. Hanuman Waek Mek = Hanuman (Monkey deity) cleaves cloud
2. Chang Sabut Nguang = Elephant sweeps trunk
3. Praya Krut Yutthayat = Garuda (Mystical bird) surfing (wind)
4. Hong Hern = Swan gliding
5. Phraram Phlaeng Sorn = Rama (God king) shoots arrow
The music is called in Thai "Pi Part", mainly Thai flute's mournful sound accompanied by gentle drum sound.

I'd seen a Mui Thai boxer who is a Muslim. He was quite good but he didn't wai kru due to his religion, which I thought it was not right. Wai Kru is to show the respect and gratitude to your Mui Thai teachers, not some spirits as you think. Maui Thai is the martial art that has been inherited for centuries. And we ThaI always show r🎉espect and gratitude to every teacher of ours, whether education, martial arts, music, or dance. All have to wai kru before performances and have yearly ceremonies.

There's a Dutch muay thai fighter who runs the "Muay Thai Library" with her husband in Thailand. It is all about documenting the history and traditional techniques of muay Thai, might be what you're looking for. Look up Sylvie Von-Douglass Ittu. She has interviews and seminars on there with virtually every stadium champion I have ever heard of and a lot of history episodes too.

The flute like instrument, i don't know the name in Thailand but we, Malaysians called it Serunai. Whether the music style is from Thailand, Malaysia or Indonesia, it gives me goosebumps. Love this music from Malaysia~

@卐ॐകേരളംॐ卐 There was a lot of trade between the contemporary kingdoms of Java (current day Indonesia) and the Vijjaynagar kingdom as well as a few northern ones going as far back as the 10th Century, just like Shaiviks, Vaishnavs and Shakti followers are different sects so did hinduism or its buddhist teachings translate to South East Asia in different religious denominations. You can even find dozens of versions of the Ramayana within South India itself.
Wonderful. It is a privilege to watch the ritual in its entirety. My deep respect.

Sad reality
I used to learn Muay Thai from Kru Manop Yarana 20 years ago and Muay Chaiya frome Kru Pang. I used to learn Thai ancient weapon examples 2 handsword , spear, ellbows wooden , bow etc. Now I forget something because i've ever use it and I am older.LOL .The ancient battlefield in Thailand you must be able to use weapon and Muaythai for fighting close to close combat.

I see people in Muay Thai fights in US just copying the moves of text book wai kru. Here I see a real Muay Thai fighter understanding each move and expressing "something".
I can't tell but never thought wai kru can be so interesting to watch. It wasn't until I saw one youtube comment saying non-Thai looks uninterested doing wai kru.
