From all the video’s I found on TH-cam, you are the only person that operates this machine in a safe way. Most of the dive in arm deep to push branches true the machine. Good review, I think this is the chipper we need. Thanks!

It looks like a great machine! We bought a small chipper/shredder and haven’t been happy with it. One thing that we found is that we don’t have enough branches to make a substantial amount of chips. We ended up with a lot less than we thought we would, so no point really in going to all the trouble. This looks like a great thing for you folks, though, you have a lot of wood to chip. I've just bought one of these in the UK. The name on the side is Cobra but looks identical to yours apart from the colour. The Engine is a Chinese Honda and I'm told is very reliable. What I like most is the belt drive. Direct drives from the crankshaft is asking for trouble. If you put bigger wheels on your machine, make sure you alter the front support to keep the machine level or you could run into trouble with oil level.
Yes it does look exactly the same. Although I notice the cobra has a nice little tool holder thing attached the the side which is a nice addition. I suspect eh square shoot is a bit better as well but only time will tell. I still haven't got around to putting bigger wheels on :) Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy chipping!

Hi. Yeah it’s still going strong. Lumag is a good German brand, I have no real complaints to be honest. We probably need to replace the blades some time soon and they are a little pricey but with sharpening now and again they’ve lasted ok I guess (I’ve nothing to compare against). it really depends how much you intend to do.
I have this same machine for over 2 years now, so I can give a solid review of my thoughts on it.
For the price, it's a decent machine, but it's not well built in my opinion. I have had to weld the base of both infeed and outfeed chutes at the bolting points as they both cracked from wear and tear after just 23 hours run time.. The safety bar is a poor design, I kept knocking the engine off with my hip so I removed the bar and fit an emergency stop button instead ontop of the infeed chute with a welded box encased around it.
I added a swivel axle to the front stand for ease of movement and it helps!
It doesn't easily chip 100mm timber as the warning sticker suggests it's capable of, but I am very impressed with what it CAN chip for such a small engine. I generally chip anything up to 45mm diameter with it and I have run it with over 60 hours on the clock at this stage so it's well dialed in.
Just recently I replaced the swivel head on the outfeed for a fixed square outfeed head, I find this doesn't clog like the round one does and there's no bolt ends for the chippings to catch on (causing of an initial blockage).
Out of 5 I would give it 4, it's cheap to run, easy to move around and will chip a large amount of material in relatively short time. It also works best with 2 people if you have a lot of stuff to chip.
On a side note, it's best to replace the 2x drive belts every 40 hours as I noticed the inside belt slipping somewhat.
Thanks. Yes I will have to get some belts. How often did you find you had to sharpen the blades? I do need to design something to help carry it about as our land is not very stable, although once I get the bigger wheels on it maybe easier. Having now used it more I agree re the safety bar.

I sharpen the blades every 5-7 hours on the time clock, or otherwise flip them and use the other side of the blades if I have too much chipping to be doing.
I should really make a video of what I've done to mine, since writing that review above, I have also made a new outfeed chute with a non adjustable up/down head, it still swivels left to right though. I found the original chute a pain, the vibration kept loosening the two bolts, and the same two bolts often caused blockages. Now there is nothing obstructing the chute exit and it works fine.
Alan Keegan have you got the older model with the square chute? Would love to see the video when done.
Baltic Homesteaders: I have the same model as you, just with many modifications 😉 it has a square chute now that I made from scratch. I would prefer a longer infeed chute aswell but space for transporting it doesn't allow this at the moment.

Looks like a great little machine, would it cope with fresh cut conifer/leylandii branches upto 3inch in diameter,?
Yeah. Actually conifer was the first thing we ran through it. It will do up to 10cm but you will need to carefully feed it. We rarely chip anything above 2 inch because it’s used as firewood. As long as the blades are kept sharp it will be fine.

How does it cope with conifer branches or very twiggy material?
Conifer no problem, we felled 3 and that was its first job but what it does struggle with is very thin birch tree sticks. By struggle I mean they pass straight through it wont chop them into bits but i'm talking about the very ends like thinner than 4mm or so.

No problem, they didn't go to wast we ended up putting a load of the twiddly sticks into a hugelkulture bed.
I was wondering how the wood chipper was holding out. Is it still doing a good job ?

Funnily enough its first job was dealing with all the branches inc fernery of 2 big conifers and dealt with them perfectly well.

Could you make more videos with this chipper and remove the music. They look to be very competent, portable machines and deserve some more attention
Hi thanks for watching and commenting. We're probably going to concentrate on what we do with the chips as that's far more interesting than just showing videos of chipping stuff. What was it about the music you didn't like, or you like the sound of a droning engine more? :)
Is there a reason why you didn't buy the hc10pro?
It has some more advanced features and bigger wheels.
(But yes, it costs a bit more)
Essentially cost and possibly availability ruled it out. It was a struggle to find it and in the end we got it in Germany and had it shipped here which cost another 200 euro! I have since upgraded the wheels, pretty much the only thing I've had to do to it.

Sveiki. Joprojām lieliski pēc gada (faktiski ilgāk). HC15pro varbūt ir labāks, bet vajagam malku tāpēc principā nekas virs 5-7cm nešķeldo. Tā ir jaudīga mašīna tam, kas mums nepieciešams, un stabila vācu inženierija.
ja jums ir ļoti nelīdzena zeme, tad hc10pro lielāki riteņi būs labāki.

This isn’t cheap Chinese stuff that costs a third of the price. It’s produced in Germany.

@@BalticHomesteaders kept clogging upand was a nightmare to clear so i sold it with in a few weeks and bought a 3 point linkage with a hydraulic feed forthe tractor, far superior, i found the machine just didnt have enough grunt to do a haevy work load, it was under powered and slow to use
Clearly you needed something bigger for what you’re doing. If I had a tractor I’d probably get a PTO chipper.
@@BalticHomesteaders i have found over time that most small machines are over rated i only use a kubota b1600 but the chipper is a work horse
@@fuzzzeballs one of those with a front bucket on would suit us down to the ground.
