- Join me on a journey through Algeria as we explore two of the country's most fascinating historical sites: Djémila and Constantine.
This travel vlog takes you through the heart of Algeria's ancient history (with incredible landscapes to boot!).
🏛️ Djémila: A Walk Through History
Our adventure begins with a scenic drive through the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, leading us to Djémila. Once known as Cuicul, this Roman city was established during Emperor Nerva's rule (96-98 A.D.).
Set at 900 meters, Djémila's strategic location between two mountain torrents is a sight to behold.
Discover the town's growth in the 3rd century, highlighted by the Septimius Severus Temple, the Arch of Caracalla, and more.
As a UNESCO World Heritage site, Djémila offers a glimpse into some of the most well-preserved Roman ruins, with only 40% excavated so far!
🌉 Constantine: The City of Bridges
Next, we head to Constantine, a city nearly encircled by the breathtaking Rhumel Gorge. Founded by the Phoenicians, its rich history is palpable.
Known as the "city of bridges," Constantine's numerous crossings over the deep gorge are architectural marvels, showcasing Roman, Ottoman, and French influences.
Within about 1.5 hours from Djémila, Constantine is an essential part of any Algerian travel itinerary.
🔍 Constantine Beyond the Bridges
But there's more to Constantine than just its famous bridges. Join me as we delve into the city's cultural and historical heart.
Visit the Ahmed Bey Palace, the last residence of the ruler of Constantine, completed just before the French invasion.
Wander through the kasbah, the old city area filled with market stalls and delicious street food.
Visit the Emir Abdelkader Mosque, a serene site welcoming visitors to the city's edge.
From the astonishing ruins of Djémila to the historical depths of Constantine, get ready to experience Algeria in this video!

Algeria is a wonderful country truely
I know that Algeria has the largest number of Roman ruins after Italy. I read on National Geographic that after Italy, it is in Algeria that we find the most Roman and Gallo-Roman ruins on the planet. Fascinating.
I agree...
Berbers friends to roman at the time

Hello, welcome to algeria. A clarification is needed here: Constantine is known as the city of suspended bridges, and not as the city of bridges. It is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is a unique city in africa and the mediterranean due to her gorge. It has also a rich history, traditions, culinary art and music.

DID YOU VISITE DJMILA IN SETIF ALGERIA IT'S 100 KM FROM CONSTANTINE IT'S AMAZING
I did yes, loved it! :)
good @@ClairesFootsteps
Constantine was NEVER founded by phoenicians, sadly people write stupid things on wikipedia all the time about Algeria.
It was founded by Numidian Massyles the original people of the region.
Yes, basically berbers.
It was founded by Phoenicians first then took the name of cirta during the Era of Numidians according to unisco.
@hilights880 phoenecians didnt impact north africa. It was the berbers numidians
@@hilights880 WRONG.
Phoenicians never entered DEEP, only on coastal areas.
@@hilights880very wrong. Phoenicians were the ones that built Carthage but they never made it to Numidia today's Algeria. All Numidians kings were Berbers.
DJEMILA.ALGERIA.
🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿❤️❤️
قسنطينة شابة
TIMGAD is more large als DJEMILA, constantine = CIRTA is a berber massinissa king capital city pheneciens are trade sailors build first a harbor and small city around the medetraneen sea enjoy bella
Phoenicians !? I think you mean Numidians. Phoenicians are Canaanites and came from the middle east and stopped at Tunisia. Whilst Algeria was Numdia and so was the king Massinissa so therefore Berber.
Hi Claire, do you have a Facebook page? 😊
🇧🇩🇧🇩🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿❤❤❤❤🎉🎉
Jdmila la wilaya de setif.pas la wilaya de Constantine.

Constantine is not founded by the Libanese people NO. The city is the first capital of Algeria. its original name is CIRTA. And founded by the ALGERIANS. And now we are welcoming u with warm hearts. Welcome, Mrehba. Ansuf. Bienvenue ❤
The best ruins of Algeria are : Djemila ( Setif ) ,Timgad ( Batna ) and Tipaza ( Algiers ).
who built constantine are the numedians berbers and was the city of Massinisa king of numidia not phenisans lol correct your informations
Hi, dear, I hope you are well. I saw that your TH-cam videos are very lovely and fantastic. You have enough of the videos but your video is not getting views because there is some problem with your videos. Your SEO score is very poor (9% out of 100)and you need optimization for better results. If you update the videos then the views of the video will increase. If you want you can discuss with me. Thanks
Setif not constantine 🤌
I am from Algeria and I do not like this idea of you feeling obliged to wear a scarf. You should be able to remain as you are, naturally.
Enjoy your time

It's totally normal in the entire World when you visit a mosque there are some outfit to respect, holy places in Corea or Thailand for instance you need to take off your shoes what's the problem in it? You are not going to disrespect your religion because of someone want to visit a holy place, it is nonsens...

@@MsLamiz we are talking about the streets, not holy places!!!
