I think Sayo (little girl) was in a state of shock and also only 4 years old confused don't think she wanted to betray Gyomei....BTW we have met the little sh*t who guided the demon to the orphanage all the way back in season 1, is on one of the mains trio backstory we don't see hjs face but the pendant the child was wearing is the same....Next episode is about to go down

Some people have been saying that the smoke is the wisteria burning him, but i don't know if thats true
confirmed it is true :). If you notice when he gets closer, you see a bit of erupting flames when he enters. It's the wisteria acting.
