Kurt, super glad that you & 1st class are fine. Vehicle deer whistles work and are tremendously less expensive than herd bumpers. I've been using them for years in TX, TN, SC and a number of other states

A friend of mine hit a deer 2 weeks ago and took out the passenger side head light and put a huge dent in the passenger side door as it cane around he stopped and he was going to put it in his truck and take it home he said he walked up to the deer and that thing got up and look at him and took of like nothing happened. We fixed his head light but all that plastic mounting behind the light was cracked and broken a lot of superglue did the trick works just fine. "...Oh sh!τ!!....." I have done that twice with the truck, once with the personal vehicle. The first with my previous T680 took out the radiator, the AC condenser, the air-to-air exchanger, and a headlight. The second with my current T680 resulted in no damage, but an interesting dashcam video. One with a personal vehicle (2004 Silverado) deformed the front bumper just enough to notice. That one was at speed, north of 80 mph. You had a bit of luck...grille strike would probably been a different deal.
I have the same problem with my leg too. I started carrying a folding cane with me. I don't use it a lot but when I'm walking a bit or walking on ice I always use it. It's nice having it to steady with when my leg is hurting or numb. Maybe you may want to get one.
I never thought I'd see you and First Class in person but Monday 1/13 I was able to when you passed through the stop light on 1st street in Topeka to get on I-70 to get to 75 highway. I was so hoping that you had stopped at the Love's so I could meet you in person, but sadly you didn't so I'll just have to keep looking each time I drive by and hope you'll be there so I can shake your hand. Kurt, the problem with that electronic panel is more than likely pretty minor. The fact the whole thing died, rather than a function, indicates it's a power supply issue. I assume you checked to make sure your getting voltage in the truck to the part itself, just because the fuse is good doesn't mean the wiring is good, especially when you have had corrosions issues. Even that radio shop should be able to trace the circuit with a meter and determine whether a transistor or capacitor is blown and solder in a new part, it's just a basic electronic repair.
I had a friend in a freightliner hit a deer, took out the whole bumper, grill, left headlight and hood. I had another friend in a peterbilt who hit a deer. the peterbilt had a dent that was barely noticeable in the bumper and one headlight was slightly bent. I recently got out of the truck. I miss some of it, but not all of it. I do not miss the snow.

If you can't find that part a good tv shop should be able to help also there are several shops on e bay that repair electric gauge clusters they could be of help,I sent my bad cluster to digital-speedometer on e bay fixed it right up and only about 10 days.

Ouch. Had my share of animal strikes and one scary close call. I was in my little Mazda when one jumped across the highway in front of me windshield high. His rear hoof caught the right pillar and shattered the windshield. Fraction of a second faster and I would have been wearing it. At least it wasn't a skunk.

Kurt I always wondered how many deer you have encountered. I hit one about 7 years ago on my way to work, going about 40. The Deputy that came said he just got his crusier back after its 3 rd deer hit. First class didn't look to bad.

to me it's just another way to dear hunt... at age 17 i hit a dear around 2:30 am near my high school doing 67ish mph. in a 67 ford falcon long story short i got the ok by the game warden to take it home. it dressed out at 175 lbs. gave it to a friend of mine and yes the meat was still good. he is a seasoned dear hunter so he knows what to look for/at.

I hit a deer once when I was towing a tent trailer behind my 1995 Chevrolet Lumina. Tore off the driver side mirror, dented the front bumper, destroyed the weather stripping on the windshield and dented the front part of the trailer. Scared the crap out of me!

It's looking like neither you nor the truck are in safe working condition. I hope you recover good health and fix the truck, before you kill more than just a deer. One headlight off, the other pointed wrong, no warning if your brakes lose air pressure, legs not working, back in pain, and you still head down the road at night? I know the driving conditions are easy compared to most of the country, and you're very familiar with your routes. But I'd still say you're becoming a menace out there, if you're not willing to park it until you get things in order. I'd be more sympathetic if you'd even just waited for daylight to drive.

Herd bumpers are more effective and don't get clogged like deer whistles do.
If it's not ice in winter it's bugs in the spring and summer.

Watch all your videos. Deer hit my wife’s Pathfinder SUV. She was doing 25mph, deer about 5 mph. Deer ran off. Cost us $4800. Deer won!

to me it's just another way to dear hunt... at age 17 i hit a dear around 2:30 am near my high school doing 67ish mph. in a 67 ford falcon long story short i got the ok by the game warden to take it home. it dressed out at 175 lbs. gave it to a friend of mine and yes the meat was still good. he is a seasoned dear hunter so he knows what to look for/at.

I want to make something like that for my subscribers. I just can't decide in the right wording. I hit a deer once when I was towing a tent trailer behind my 1995 Chevrolet Lumina. Tore off the driver side mirror, dented the front bumper, destroyed the weather stripping on the windshield and dented the front part of the trailer. Scared the crap out of me!

One headlight off, the other pointed wrong, no warning if your brakes lose air pressure, legs not working, back in pain, and you still head down the road at night?
I know the driving conditions are easy compared to most of the country, and you're very familiar with your routes. But I'd still say you're becoming a menace out there, if you're not willing to park it until you get things in order. I'd be more sympathetic if you'd even just waited for daylight to drive.
