I never dreamed I would see a Unc team this small and finesse in my lifetime. I really feel bad for Roy having to watch this team every game get beat up in the paint, I mean there guards were posting against our center and scoring on him with beautiful post moves, I feel like I’m in the twilight zone, we need to get some crisp ball movement and cutting and stop all this hero ball crap, even though Ian is pretty awesome at it lol.

RJ selfishness is the problem because Ian was hot down the straight and RJ wants to put everything on his shoulders and turns the ball over twice, to me that’s the problem, Hubert giving RJ way too much green light

I’m starting to think RJ just can’t play with other guards. First the Caleb Love issues. Then there seemed to be issues passing to Trimble early in the season when he was hot. Now RJ is always trying to be the hero after Ian gets us back in the game, but usually misses or turns it over. I hope my eyes are deceiving me.

Let me just say this: This is feeling like the Matt Doherty years. Most of the players does not know what is really going on out there. There are so many things that disturb me about this team. Cade looks lost. Lubin makes several errors at the wrong time. Withers is totally out of sync. Washington is playing soft. EC acts like he doesn't care and RJ is just throwing his shot up. Captain Jack was balling and Powell is playing hard. I wish Seth was playing. The coaching staff doesn't even talk to one another. Needless to say HD has bit more than he can chew. He will step down, at least he needs to. The next coach does not necessarily need to be an alum. And I feel there will be a total exodus with the team. This is not UNC basketball.

  • @BrandonTWills

Hubert told us EC had made huge improvements. At this point it seems like Hubert either sees a world no one else does or just lies right to our faces, sometimes for no reason. How many times has he said something & we see exactly the opposite on the floor? Is he just playing some kind of game?

My question to the Rams Club is how much longer they're going to keep playing with Hubert Davis, as HC. Clearly he's not cut out for this role, and we've now gotten a good sample size of what UNC will be, under his tutelage. While he may not have, pound for pound, elite talent at every position, he still has enough that they should've won this game.
With Davis, UNC will be feast or famine. Sure he's gotten them to the title, but I think adrenaline and a roster of veterans covered his messes. Same with last year. He's not a good enough head coach.
Would be a real shame to see a crown jewel program fall into obscurity. As if it's not already hard enough to sustain, in the NIL era. Meanwhile Duke, UK, Kansas, UConn and other blue bloods are relatively okay.
Finally, the recruiting is a seriously punishable offense. Hubert's missed on almost every single opportunity: transfer and recruit. That's crazy, considering that this is the Jordan flagship brand - plenty of money to spend, too.
Seriously, wtf is going on with UNC?

    • @MrBmick79
      @MrBmick79 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Handing over a Blue Blood program to a first time head coach is like gifting a Rolls Royce to a 15 year old with a driver's permit. I gave HD the benefit of the doubt because he'd played for Coach SMith, learned under Coach Williams and played for Don Nelson, Pat Riley, and Rick Carlisle. But him doing away with the systems that Coach SMith put into place (only one of the smartest to ever hold a clipboard) seems silly. Running an NBA system with non pro's is a recipe for disaster. Reminds me when all those Phil Jackson disciples tried to run triangle offense without Mike or Kobe. Anyway, shooting guards don't seem to make great head coaches. I think Derrick Phelps should've been on this staff in some capacity. I think losing these games may be good in the long run because the program and the fans will actually have to face the reality that has unfolded in Chapel Hill and nationally.

Amazing, you put up a cast not long ago saying there will be no negative talk about HD. fast forward about a week and you finally see what we are seeing. HD cannot coach. It shows their spacing is awful, no big is willing to fight for a rebound, bigs letting thin centers just dunk on them with no resistance.
You want to know the biggest blunder? He is NOT letting James Brown play. The one guy that has the energy, passion and can change a game when he is in. He may foul but heck he tries and plays!
This Claude guy is the biggest mistake and even gets more time than Brown. Would not be surprised that Brown transfers.
I just see a MATT D situation unfolding all over again.. I want to give them a pass and hope HD will get over his " We will not be a transaction school" mentality and gets with the NIL and buy big men . You can have all the morals in the world but the NCAA has thrown a major curve ball and UNC needs to compete in the market and match or exceed others offers.
I said from the jump when HD said that statement we would have no bigs that will allow the guards to operate..
The guards are worn out and other teams read this and lock them down cause they know there is no big UNC has to worry about.
Listen I am a long long time UNC fan and have had inside connections. It pains me to say it but HD needs to go if he is going to be stubborn with NIL and not willing to adapt.

A starting lineup I’d really like to see, that has enough size and talent to compete with most teams is Cadeau, Trimble, Jackson, Powell, and Washington and just see how they do, they can’t do much worse than the other starting lineups have done, I’d like to just see if they would have better chemistry offensively and defensively, and let them press every fourth possession or so to try to keep the opponent out of rhythm, it just seems like teams get such easy open looks against us and we seem to work so hard just to get a shot off when every player is under sized.

This is what happens all the timewhen they play quality competition. and you love to talk about the other teams, not playing anybody in their wins, but they seems to still beat Carolina so who they played don’t really matter when it comes to Carolina usually you hate on freshman and they too young and can’t get the job done. Now you trying to rely on one won with him to have the ball if you didn’t have one you’ll be talking about RJ. Quit trying to use the excuse about tremble being hurt. They had players hurt too. you act like other teams do not play without a player. They need to an injury. The other team can use the same excuse that you like to. They are the most inconsistent shooting team I have ever seen at UNC. The best players are several freshmen but we do not have a strong big man in the middle and our defense is often letting us down. My bet is that when the season is over, the good freshmen will transfer away from the team.

In a nutshell, the team is too small and does not shoot well on a consistent basis. Powell and Jackson are great recruits but Hubert has a problem recruiting pure shooters and bigs. You would think that a guy who was a shooter would be better at identifying shooters to recruit, it seems that every team we play is loaded with pure gunslingers except us. As far as recruiting bigs Hubert needs to break his habit of not promising a starting position, if he finds a true dominant big then he needs to promise a starting spot if that’s what it takes.

I’m afraid this is another lost and wasted season, there’s allot of talent at the guard positions but because this offense is designed to play 4 or five out and the bigs haven’t been able to make 3s so the entire offense just implodes, then you take that the entire team is undersized except Ian and Drake, so the little guys have trouble getting off shots against guys who are 4-5 inches taller than they are. Then there’s no player movement and cutting, the ball doesn’t move much then comes the forced ugly shot that they are to small to rebound that the opponent gets and gets fast break points against us. Really hard to watch a Unc team that isn’t dominant in the paint, Roy’s teams didn’t have to make 3s, if they missed them then they rebounded it and still scored about half the time, now they miss them and it ends up a fast break the other way. I gave Hubert’s vision a honest shot but boy I miss Roy. I have noticed every one of Wes Millers team’s have looked good at allot worse jobs than Unc, just saying.

There is so much I want to comment, but don't really want to write a complete dissertation. Bottom line is that this team is just poorly constructed. The lack of a serviceable big to give you SOMETHING is killing this team. That lack of post presence is exacerbated by our small front court. With small guards that can't keep their guy in front, and no rim protection, defense is going to be a serious issue. With no post scoring threat on either post entry or lobs, our small guards are forced to make tough shots from outside or beat their guy only to be met at the rim with the defense's center. NONE of this is working in our favor. I don't see any line up we can put on the floor that doesn't give up something, fix one issue only to cause another.
In addition to all that, it seems they are just poorly coached. The offense has no real identity. Issues that have been evident all year are not improving. Unfortunately, Davis has to own all of this. Outside of the late run in '22 and landing Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan (who carried the team last year), Davis hasn't given us much reason to think he can succeed as HC. I just don't know how much longer he gets to figure it out.

We have no bigs at all, we ain’t consistent, always fighting to come back , late starts , lazy on defense. That has nothing to do with the coach. Now the rotation is trash and I blame that on the coach. But the players got to go out and play. Rj ain’t doing nothing , Elliot is a turnover machine , temple is injury, he want let Jackson close games , pj is soft , no shoots. Come on coach your recruitment is trash too.

Why don't you ask this to Hubert, 5star won't be coming to UNC as long as he's the coach.

Why Didn't UNC Tar Heels' Ian Jackson Get the Ball in the Most CRITICAL Offensive Moments? BECAUSE THIS TEAM IS ALL ABOUT RJ DAVIS. That is why I was upset when RJ came back while everyone else was celebrating like we would win a title.

You can't coach poor leaders. Their veterans are horrible leaders also EC doesn't have a vet that plays that can help him. Roy always had those kinds of players. They blame love but I told people was a good kid but he's passive aggressive. He can score but nothing else
Rj benefitted because of Ryan taking slack off of him on defense. He's on a island now. The front court just has role players. These are guys that come in and just give the starters a break. People dogged Hubert for not playing Washington. This is why . He can't play but you don't remember calling him a bad coach for not playing him .

They don't. Rotate well. With man to man help defence / they need to. Stop helping / they give teams too many wide open. Shots.
