    *THIS MAY NOT HELP BUT* .... I had a HORRIBLE first pregnancy, suffered all the same things you did. 2 years later I got pregnant again.....and THANK THE UNIVERSE had NONE of the horrible awful things that happened the first time. Not saying its a sure thing BUT....your body's smart.....it adjusts...and it's been broken in now, lol. So the second time around it handles it better..MOST of the time. Try not to be TOO scared 💖

      As a mom I think it’s irresponsible that she’s constantly having scares and posting them on the internet for her young viewers to see. If she doesn’t want to get pregnant she should probably use birth control or just not posting it if she is going to choose not to use protection. She’s spreading a lot of misinformation to impressionable young people.

    Colleen, you should do a collab with Mama Doctor Jones (once corona madness is over), where she explains to you how getting pregnant works, and all the things you talked about here that you didn't really understand. She has said in the past you are the one youtuber she really wants to collab with, and this is right up her alley. I imagine you might find it helpful to understand it better, and she'd be beyond excited I believe. And I for one would love to watch. I mean. You might not want to hear this, but your “weird period” could be what’s called implantation bleeding. It’s super normal when you’re BECOMING pregnant. A lot of women confuse it for their periods, but it’s literally ... implantation and sometimes it causes bleeding. But because you took the pregnancy test immediately after this, it could be too early to take a test and it could be a false negative. So be careful and maybe take another one in a week or so to be safe and if symptoms continue!

      Thank you. You can ovulate earlier than you think - doesn’t mean you’re an “alien.” You cannot get pregnant if you didn’t ovulate. And that wasn’t a period while pregnant, it was implantation bleeding or could have been a hematoma that she passed (happens frequently). I wish she would get a little more educated about the reproductive system before telling people this stuff.

    Fun Fact: You can still get pregnant while having your period. The male sperm can live up to five days after ejaculation inside of the female, and ovulation can begin quickly after a female's menstrual cycle especially if the period was heavy or long. Therefore, the theory of "I can't get pregnant if I'm on my period" is a myth commonly shot down by OBGYNs every day. Colleen, I love your videos, and seeing you happy makes me happy. Stay safe and keep doing you, boo!

      Not to mention what I'm sure is exaggeration- needing to use the bathroom every 15 minutes. If this is happening, please see a GP!

      Kind of, but not really. The only way you can get pregnant is if sperm meets ovum. Sperm lives for up to 7 days, and the ovum lives for up to 48 hours, so if you have unprotected sex a week before the day of ovulation you can fall pregnant. It's not a simple science, so if you aren't ready to support a child or have a child with the person you're having sex with, USE PROTECTION. But if you're married, like me, and just don't quite have the money, FAM is VERY accurate. It's not a "rhythm" method though, as cycles change. You have to be super diligent with temperature taking and checking cervical mucus.
      Sorry for the rant I just feel like there are a lot of women on birth control unnecessarily and it does have a lot of awful side effects so if you have the patience and willpower to go natural I recommend it!

    If you are just now showing symptoms and just had a “period” no test will say you’re pregnant. That could have been implantation bleeding, which would mean it could take a little for a positive. I had a weird period so I thought I was pregnant, I had the symptoms, but nooo test came back positive. But I knew I was pregnant. And now guess what? I was pregnant 😂 also, digital tests 100% take more of the HCG hormone to show positive! Try the cheapie tests from Walmart or the early detection dye tests. Not saying your ARE pregnant. I’m just saying you wouldn’t get a positive right away and definitely not on a digital test!
    Also. I don’t know WHAT you exactly went through or HOW it made you feel, but try to take comfort in the fact that EVERY pregnancy is different. So just because you had the worst end of the stick with Flynn doesn’t Necessarily mean if you got pregnant again, it would be exactly the same. But i do understand the fear since with Flynn it was so bad. But try to take comfort in that...

    I don't know what Colleen's personal medical picture is, so I'm not speaking for her, but just a PSA, progestin- only hormonal birth control is completely safe and effective while breastfeeding. If you are in a situation where you are wanting or needing to prevent pregnancy-please talk to your Dr about birth control! There are lots of options-nexplanon (implant) the patch, the shot, and several brands of the pill, along with barrier methods. I am concerned about the misinformation here, especially for a younger audience. Colleen is a very wealthy adult in a stable, safe relationship and can afford to risk pregnancy repeatedly. But so many people actually can't afford to have unsafe/unprotected sex. The last thing we need to do as grown women is to model unsafe sex to teenagers.

  • @maoui5304
    @maoui5304 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    I'd like to offer some of my knowledge concerning the whole ovulating/getting pregnant on your period thing. So basically you ovulate 14 days before the beginning of your next period, so we say that it's usually 10 days after the end of a period because the average cycle is 28 days and the average period length is 4 days. But that's not how you should count because everyone's cycle is different. Let's say you get your period very often, like every 20 days, and it lasts a long time, like 7 days in a row, you'll be ovulating at 20-14=day 6 while you'll still be on your period!
    Also, you have a five day window to get pregnant around this ovulation because the sperm can live up to 4 days in the uterus and the egg only 24 hours, so if you do have sex outside of this 5 days window you can't get pregnant (never say never but what I mean is that it's highly unlikely) BUT this window can be happening during your period as I explained earlier, so ALWAYS protect yourself even while bleeding, because it can totally happen!
    Anyways hope it was helpful, and clear enough (English isn't my first language)

    You definitely CAN be pregnant while having intercourse during periods because:
    1) it depends on your cycle, you may have very short cycles and ovulate very close to the end of your periods;
    2) because of that, you start having cervical mucus being produced and sometimes even mixed in with your period blood, hence you can't really see it if you don't know about this mucus;
    and 3) this mucus, when fertile (creamy/watery/eggwhite-like, all the period BEFORE and DURING ovulation time) is meant to nourish and help sperms get into the uterus to wait for and eventually fertilize the ovum/egg.
    Keep in mind that men are fertile EACH TIME they have intercourse, and women are not, BUT our bodies do everything they can to maximize the chance of getting pregnant, so having sex before ovulating is basically the BEST way of getting pregnant, because of the sperms being all cozy and warm in the reproductive system waiting for mister Eggy to show up! x)

      I'm nut sure about all the logistics/medical stuff (im not a doctor), but Im pretty sure the reason that you cannot take birth control while breastfeeding is because of the hormones in BC, and MOST IUDs also have that same issue because they contain hormones to work as well. Although if they don't want anymore genetic/biological children then Eric can always get that taken care of so it is 100% effective, but that's not for everyone.

    HI FRIENDS! I feel like I should clarify something I said in this video. First of all - YES YOU CAN TAKE BIRTH CONTROL WHEN YOU ARE BREAST FEEDING! Options are limited, but there are certainly ways to take birth control if you are choosing to nurse your child. I said I cannot take birth control while breast feeding but didn't elaborate. My doctor told me the types of birth control I could try that would keep my baby safe while I was nursing and wouldn't deplete my milk supply but it was only 70% effective. I tried it and didn't like how it affected my body and mind so I made the decision to avoid birth control until I was done breast feeding my son. Birth control has very different affects on every woman and I assumed people knew that and would have figured out that I wasn't taking the "baby safe birth control" for personal reasons. But it was a mistake to assume that. I got pregnant very easily last time and YES we are taking every precautionary measure to avoid getting pregnant again, but I didn't think it was necessary OR appropriate to go into the details of how we are avoiding pregnancy during intimacy. So I only mentioned the birth control aspect of it and didn't go into much detail which caused a lot of people to be upset. ONE because I was spreading false information about birth control while breastfeeding because I generalized my personal experience and TWO because a lot of people are concerned about the details of my intimate relationship with my husband (which is a weird thing to be concerned about but go off). In the future I will be sure to clarify that my situation is specific to MY body so as to not spread misinformation. Bottom line - talk to you doctor when it comes to birth control and don't take medical advice from a random youtuber in a silly vlog. ANYWAY - Wash your hands, be kind, and stay safe during this scary time in our world. Love ya'll!

    • @OurTangledHearts
      @OurTangledHearts 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Sorry, Colleen. But the problem goes beyond just clarification on whether or not you use birth control. The problem I had with this video is assuming your very young audience will not take your word for granted regarding your pretty misinformed description of conception/ovulation/menstruation. You have a powerful position with your platform, and you know better than to talk as if you are a medical professional to a bunch of young and impressionable girls. I am disappointed.

      I know it’s your personal life and decision to do as you please, but why take so many pregnancy tests if you’re taking all the precautions you can to not get pregnant? For me it doesn’t make sense.

    *Disclaimer: Yes, I am making some assumptions based on what was said in the video*
    Colleen - use condoms. It's not fair to have you regularly freaking out about whether or not you're pregnant because sex without a condom feels better. It still feels good with condoms, and the lack of anxiety is worth it for you. The least Erik can do after ALL the work your body went through is suck it up and deal with condoms until an alternative option can be used.
    Erik - step up and take care of this for her so she doesn't have to go through this panic and anxiety!

    If you went off birth control and had you “period” (which is not a real period when you’re on birth control) but then did not start a new pack of birth control then it makes perfect sense that you got pregnant on the last day of your period. On combined birth control pills you have your break week where you take the placebo pills, where you will bleed but you MUST then continue on after those 7 days with a new pack of birth control, if you don’t take a new pack of birth control your body will then ovulate after a day or two after your original break week. Hope that makes sense and would perfectly explain getting pregnant with Flynn :)
