its nice but i think its dangerous to put 18650s on a place where it can bump or smash to something..it may explode due to damage from impact.18650s are delicate and dangerous if mishandeled any its still great..

I had tried the same with 3s lithium ion batteries (3.7X3 18650 batteries) to my 7.2volt rc truck .worked, less than a minute circuit damaged from high voltage..
Yes thats a good experiment but it will shorten the lifespan of a toy grade rc car.. everyday used that car would not last 6 months with its normal battery because the 130 motor will be out of brass this is from experience.. and upgrading the voltage will easily damage the thin brass of the motor because of heat and over rotation and the tires will sag eventually because there are no bearings in that cheap crawler and eventually break your gears. This comment is base on my experience with that rc car..we used to race that here in philippines.
It affected mine , for a few hours it didnt worked with any of the batteries but after like 2 hours it worked but with more than 8v or more than 2 discharged 18650 batteries it doesn t want to connect to the remote , but with 14500 liion 3.7 v 700mah it works perfect even when has 8,4v , maybe because has less mah

Why wouldn't you zip tie the batteries to the bottom so stupid to tip so it flips over everytime you gas it and turn flips over oh my why weight distribution
i have try using buck voltage regulator but the dynamo wont spin at all. i think the LM cannot deliver required current

I smashed a 18650 battery with a hammer while having almoust 4,1 v and nothing happened

Yes for safe use we should have to put a buck converter or step down module to lower its voltage to 8.4v to 4.8 v
