I have this running for three month and it is the best piece of equipment I have purchased for a long time. The ph in the reactor is constant and Kh is very stable without having to continually adjust the effluent flow rate. It is a great addition to anyone running a calcium reactor.
I've had mine since July. I calibrated it initailly and then put it to work. I'm running 27 mL/min. I don't care exactly how much is coming out--only that it stays constant. Now I can go about 10 days without testing ALK, and then it's just a one click adjustment. I also run a pH probe in the reactor, and CO2 is controlled by a solenoid valve. Stability of this set up is on par with peristaltic pumps.
I'm wondering if by calibrating it that I've slowed how much moves through it. If I would calibrate it for 120ml / minute, then ran it at 27ml / min will I get the same amount of solution if I calibrated at 50ml / minute, then set it to 27ml / min? I'd rather have more water move through the tube, at a very slow rate to keep it humming very quietly.... not sure if I made a mistake when I set mine up.
You want to pull more water per revolution. To accomplish that you have to replace the tubing with one that has a larger inner diameter (keeping the same wall thickness). Then you would get water per rev and extend the service life of the tubing. Also you probably need to replace the fittings and adjust spring loaded bar. Kamoer might have compatible parts from other products. Consider running the idea by CoralVue tech support--they are very helpful.
so for the in on the pump, it draws water from the sump/tank, and then the out of the pump goes to where? the feed of the calcium reactor and then feeds the effluent line?
Hi Marc, Do you know how to adjust the spring loaded knurled knob on the pump head? Yours goes back and forth more than mine, but I can't find any info on how to adjust. This pump has made CaRX use as easy as dosing2-Part!
man i love your tank i met u at Aquashella in Chicago me an u took a pic together. Any ways love the tank an i am get a scroll coral just because i see that u have one an u say that it's a great coral to add an because it looks cool so thanks for what u do for the hobby we love the video's DM'S REEF TANK
How is this working out? I am about to buy a calcium reactor and this is probably the right solution for my new 325 gallon but curious what your thoughts are after the first month. This seems to be a far more accurate (and easier then a needle wheel) to hone in exactly what is needed for the tank. Any plans for an update video? Great channel by the way. Always a great resource.
Great video Marc! Very curious to see how this fairs long-term. I run Masterflex pumps that cost double this for an older/louder/used model, so if this pump can take the abuse of constant duty while being much cheaper, then this is a game changer!
Reefing with O Nice! You're going to love it vs dosing, and you are smart to start out with a peristaltic pump vs dealing with a needle valve.. Doing it right from the beginning!
Hey Marc, you mentioned on your livestream that you were having issues with this pump before CoralVue replaced it..what was the problem? Very curious about this pump and how it stacks up to a Masterflex. Thanks!
@@melevsreef I have this pump and plan to pull through the vertex 6d cal reactor. I was just curious. Not sure if I push through the reactor about the pressure build up. I have heard to do it both ways. I too have the intake near the bottom on my reactor. I just ordered the push fit barb for the bottom line.
What speed is it running? Mine is at 80ml per minute. It was very quiet out of the box, but after a few months I've found I have to grease the white wheels to quiet it down again.
Dirt cheap compared to the alternative though... I'm really interested to see the long term reliability on these. I already have a Masterflex but that's out of justifiable price range for 99% of the hobby.
Am using mine for few months already and am super happier with the results, no noise and accurate,

Is yours silent Alan ?
It is not silent but it is very quite. I have to turn off all the other pumps on the tank to hear it.
Thanks Alan!
I have had this pump about 3 months now and no problems yet!! still accurate
I have this pump too. It’s kinda expensive but worth every penny and more. Love it.
Glad to hear it. How long have you had it? Can it move more liquid at a slower pace? I’m wondering if I calibrated mine correctly.

Curious how big is your tank ? I have my pump running at 90 ml per min and my alk is stable at 8.6 . Tank is 550
Cool pump and tank is looking awsome!
so for the in on the pump, it draws water from the sump/tank, and then the out of the pump goes to where? the feed of the calcium reactor and then feeds the effluent line?
Yes, it draws water from the sump and pumps it into the calcium reactor. The effluent comes out at the same rate the liquid enters the reactor.

Hey there. Curious if you had any updated opinions on this pump?
I still like it. Might go a follow up video soon.

I will do an update in a few months. So far, so good.
melevsreef Awesome. Your recommendation is good for me. Thank so much.
So is this a prelude to the much anticipated (at least by me) calcium reactor video?? :D

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I have a Masterflex here that is going to need a home soon. 😊
Still working on the calcium reactor Jeff, this is the pump that I will be using with it.

I couldn’t seem to calibrate it. Something was amiss so they replaced it.
What fish is that comes from the right at 2.29mins? With the white tail.
It's a white tail Kole tang.
Nice, 😍👍🏻
That anemone is huge!!
Can this be used for water changes? Maybe if you have 2 huh.
Potentially.
Is your tank is so loud or is it just sensitive microphone collecting all noises?
The microphone is very sensitive. My tank is very quiet.
Looks good, but we hear it, at least frequency of it recorded by your mic Melv ;) still great pump
haha me too!
Are you pushing or pulling through the reactor with this pump
Drama D Pushing. I don’t think my reactor would work properly since it intake is near the base.
... if I tried to pull water through it on the outbound side.

@@melevsreef yes pull through on the out bound side and have the intake line in the probe holder in the sump
Hmm. Interesting suggestion.
Your using that for your calcium reactor?
Yes
I wonder if it could serve as a small ato pump🧐
Matyas Castro it’s too expensive for that. This is the pump I mentioned in yesterday’s livestream that costs $270.
Matyas Castro you could use a 10 dollar pump on amazon for that lol
First! Notification squad!😀
That sebae is massive will it get bigger
Don’t know, but I’m sure I’ll find out.
What? No top shelf Vodka for the fishees?
I got this pump for 30 minutes ago and installed quickly. accurate but noisy and humning operation. This pump is not quite.

Right now is on 8ml . I can‘t even think go above 30ml, the noise drives me nuts.
bjjujj contact coralvue for assistance.
That sea anemone is massive. I think i have the same type but i dont know. I picked it up for $10Au.
Heck of a deal. Mine is a Sebae malu, I believe.
@@melevsreef yeah ok. I dont think they are too special in Australia. I havent seen another one for sale. But mine is growing
You hear the pump clearly
Those pumps are nice but expensive. I guess you get ehat you pay for though.
Arrick L I hope so! 😇
