Your video helped me to performed this service on a 2013 XC60 T6 with Haldex 5. I added one additional cleaning step. I removed the white screen from the end of the unit and cleaned it with brake cleaner. There was quite a bit of goop upon the mating surfaces between the white screen and the unit and also some debris inside the white screen. This additional step got the white screen completely clean.
Excellent preventative maintenance. I’ve done this twice now on the 2017 XC90. Again, no longer a separate filter, only the white gauze strainer on the end of the pump. Two small bolts allow the strainer to be removed, washed out and replaced. It really is essential the AOC oil is replaced as it gets surprisingly gunky. Far cheaper than a Haldex pump failure.
Thank you for the excellent tutorial. You just know your stuff. Explained it in a calm, straight forward manner. No BS or big ego, just, here is how to do it.
Volkswagen use a Haldex system and after replacing the oil there is no need to drive the car as the pump is run briefly as part of start-up system check. I'm assuming my 2010 XC70 has Haldex4 and i'm having a go myself. Thanks for another super video. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
You mention the "recommended interval" is 10k miles - however, my 2014 XC70 maintenance schedule does not mention it at all that I can tell. I appreciate this video - I *will* be doing this service on my 58,000 mile car, likely for the first time.
Dear Volvosweden, thanks for your interesseting videos on your volvo. I have a 2012 XC60 Awd. Volvo does not recommend oil replacement (for a 150 km vehicle).... I would like to replace the Haldex and rear axle oil. If I understand correctly, they are two separate housings. The Haldex is drained by disassembling the front pump and filling it with the plastic screw (leveling by overflow). For the rear part, axle, it is necessary to drain by the filling plug with a pump and refil. However, it is necessary to withdraw (100ml). i'm ok?
Thank you volvosweden for your excellent videos! Will you show for sometime the change of the timing belt too? This would be perfect...Greetings from Germany
When you come back from a drive isn't the oil gonna be expanded? If you add more oil with lower temperature it will mean you will underfill it when the old oil cools down

Great video thank you! I have one question. On the Haldex 4 that is in 2014 and older Land Rover Evoque Haldex, Land Rover says to fill until it pours out, then drive, then fill again until it comes out, then remove 70ml with the syringe. Has that changed for Haldex 5?
I got a question. I have checked your Haldex 4 oil change video that you suck out 40ml oil in the end. Why not at a Haldex 5? Just because it does not have a filter ?
@@volvosweden Moreover, I see most people on youtube just change the rear differential oil. Why not the front one? Does the front differential combined with gearbox so it share the same oil with gearbox then?
What Haldex has XC70 2004 mod and XC 2006 mod If you know please let me know I have both these cars so it would be nice to know, again thanks for you nice Video
My volvo is signaling "AWD disconnected, call workshop". Do you think that this service will fix it or could it be completly broken? Maybe cleaning it and changing oil will help
Hi, could you please please point me in the right direction where I can find directions for changing the haldex/final drive/angle gear/transmission fluids in vida, i cant seem to find those.

Hello volvosweden, I am about to buy a 2015 XC60 with 100k km on it and probably no changes on the haldex oil done ever. Should I expect problems with the haldex when buying such a car? As you mentioned 20k km., what is in your opinion the biggest millage it can get without change? Let's say in normal road conditions with average winters.

Hello, Nice Chanel. I am new owner of Volvo Xc70 MY12 diesel 2.4 163hp. I am looking for information which generation of Haldex my Volvo is equipped. Your advice where to find proper information will be really appreciated. Thank you in advance. Ivan.
Previous generations used a clutch control valve to control pressure to the clutches. The filters main purpose was to prevent clogging of the control valve. Gen 5 did away with the control valve in favor of a pump assembly that can control clutch pressure. The pump uses the sock to provide filtering.
For some reason Volvo says oil is lifetime but I wouldn't recommend that. I plan on doing mine every 2 years. I don't drive my Volvo much and it takes me almost 2 years to put 13,000 miles on my car.
No car manufacturers like to tell the customers the real trouth about required service if you want your car to last. Eg.: Automatic transmissions should have changed the oil every 60.000km to 100.000km depending on driving style and load. If you drive daily on the German autobahns with maximum possible speed (160 - 180kmh), drive a lot with a trailer, drive in the mountains or in any other way regularly subject the gearbox to a high load, a oil change every 60.000km is recommended.
You can ask a dealer to do this service -- they will do it. The manufacturer does not specify any interval for changing this fluid, which opens up questions about their commitment to the longevity of your vehicle.
