I really really like the attention to detail/storytelling Ed has with his animations. You can see that at the end of some animations where he uses psycho power with his punches (his lvl 1, and victory animation), after he’s released it, he swinsg his fist to dissipate and get the excess energy off.
It’s a small detail, but it really adds to the style and character

Not to mention the fact they purposefully made some of his Psycho Power energy bursts blue to highlight how Ed's starting to use Soul Power
In this Japanese victory animation, he sais "this is MY power" and the way he says it almost sounds like he is trying to tell himself and everyone that he is not some prototype of the vessel for Bison and that he is nobody else but himself.

This is what I want for the next sf6 season to do: giving unpopular characters a chance. Ed in sf6 is proof you can make unpopular characters cooler.
People like ED don’t get many second chances, so he appreciated it more

I didn’t play SF5 so realizing this is that tiny kid Balrog saved at the end of SF4 hit me like a truck. His animations and playstyle look sick as all hell, I'm 100% onboard.
SF6 is set in 2008 so he's at least between 18 and 20

@@sideshowkrill4693 It's not officially confirmed but by using the canonical years the first few games take place in and comparing those dates to how some characters like Mel age throughout the series, it can be estimated that SF6 takes place more or less in the late 2000's

10:00 Rose isn't a Bison vessel. She's the goodness expunged from Bison. Which is why Soul power is the counterpart to Psycho power.
@@ouranos0101 I went and did some research, both of you are correct to different extents. Rose was Bison's apprentice, but in Alpha3 she discovered that she actually has some of Bison's soul in her, which is probably how Bison imparted her the abilities to use Soul Power; Which means whatever part of the soul that Bison gave her became Soul Power, which Udon then writes it to be the good part of Bison.
Late answer. But no. Rose is an ex-apprentice of Bison who the latter put his good part of his soul in her so he could obtain Psycho Power.
Ed has my favorite victory animations in the game now.
Love how in order to get people to like Ed now they gave him the coolest shit imaginable, and it's sure as hell working!

Yea Ed's story revolves around him rejecting Bison's soul that is inside him and trying to take over his body. Imagine if there's an evil voice in your head the entire time and trying to transform and take over you, that's why he is so angry and edgy, he can't even sleep well.
His body also ages at an increased rate like Solid Snake so he speed ran childhood and puberty with the maximum amount of angst, he might also die faster than normal humans. Dude is literally speedrunning the worst life.
Im still not a fan of criticizing a character cause they're "taking the spot of (character I would want instead)", especially when there are other characters that appeal to you. Even the most unpopular characters are gonna have those people that really specifically appeal to them, so just letting Ed have a spot amidst Rashid and Akuma is totally fine. Giving the unpopular characters a chance to return and shine can mean alot to a roster imo.
Theres also always the chance of bringing back Dudley. Not like SF4 and 5 didnt have two boxers each, and they can make similar characters play completely different. Let the 5 Ed fans have their character and yall can enjoy Raging Demon man
It's insanely unfair, and frankly obnoxious. But it's going to happen. All we can do is yeah. Appreciate the care and polish that Capcom put into the character we enjoy and let people who choose to stew in their unfounded angst stew.
Yeah on one hand I get wanting to see your favorite character come back, especially in a game like SF6 where they're all but guaranteed to be designed immaculately (hell even I got some characters I hope pop up sooner rather than later), but on the other hand if they never give some more unpopular characters a chance to "redeem" themselves in the eyes of the public stuff like what Max felt at 12:15 never happens!
Imo a boxer personally trained by Balrog who's got all sorts of Psycho Power special abilities is a character description too cool to just let rot away in obscurity, imagine how many forgotten characters who never reached their full potential and haven't returned in years or even decades could become fan favorite mainstays if given the proper care and attention design-wise. Like take Dee Jay for example, for years a lot of people thought of him as just "Discount Guile" but now in SF6 he's regularly used in higher ranks and is almost unanimously praised for recieving such a glow-up in every concievable way!
@@pigglesgoomshby7249 Yeah, exactly. I find it especially annoying too when Max has Ken in the base roster and Akuma as the next DLC. It just feels like whining to say "aw, but I wanted a *different* boxer." Max is usually a cool dude but his opinions on characters and rosters tends to be a tad annoying.
I agree with everything you say about less popular characters; sometimes characters just need a second chance to really flesh out their gameplay idea. Its also just that even niche characters have their fans. Less popular characters returning can add alot to a roster rather than everyone needing to meet a popularity quota.
I never enjoyed boxing characters, the only one I had some interest was C. Jack from EX, he had a bat and football kick so he wasn't just stuck to punching.
Ed looks to be the most interesting of all boxer characters in SF.

I always thought Ed could have been Capcom's Rock Howard when he got teased for SFV. Then he came out and they fumbled it.
This version is what I pictured when I thought about what Ed would be so I'm super happy that he got another chance. He really is giving me Rock vibes now
Ed is basically a failed version of Luke tbh. But he's better than ever before in sf6. He's finally come into his own.

Honestly started to main him after it was leaked he was in the game. Played the Ed beta on SFV and it was a ton of fun!

Street Fighter 6, as has been mentioned before, is a game that looks great even in slow motion.
Great animation and visual style, and the fights are easy for the audience to follow due to visual cues.
Idk why people use there love for other characters like Dudley to hate on Ed like there is gonna be more dlc and more of a chance of them showing up
I love Dudley and even then I agree with this. It’s unfair to compare Ed to an awesome character like Dudley and not giving Ed a chance.

"more of a chance," no, you lessen his chances by taking up slots with other dlc characters, and it's even worse to them because Ed is just them trying to make another Dudley archetype which they wouldn't care about if it didn't come at the cost of Dudley himself. It's a totally logical reaction
@@Millicente I still think Dudley will return he's popular and is different from Ed to justify his way into getting in the game he's even referenced a few times in world tour so I think he got a higher chance than most
Exactly, Dudley can and I believe will show up anyways. There's plenty more dlc slots. Need room for sfv newcomers as well as sf6 newcomers Ron instead of all old characters

I’m stoked, been waiting for Ed since release and I love the rework. As a boxer myself, the attention to detail on his footwork and idle animations are beyond even Dudley’s SF4 iteration.

I hope after about 2-3 fighters, Dudley gets added. Cause there’s usually a rivalry fighter. Like for instance ken and Ryu. Both have similar fighting concepts, but are different character types.

I was a Dudley main in SF4, but I skipped 5 so missed Ed completely. As much as I’d like to see Dudley this is an awesome introduction to Ed for me! He looks great! Might try and make him my secondary!
Ed was my most anticipated game of the 4 first DLC, glad Capcom made him look phenomenal that now everyone is getting on board. If not so far as wanting to play him but at least thinking he looks cool.
If even the "black sheep" of sf looks this good, can't wait to see what they do next with some fan favourites
I think alot of the beauty of this game is that it can bring back pretty much anyone. With capcom's hotstreak of tweaks to character movesets that don't take away from what they were originally but rather enhance the gameplay experience of playing said character makes this game truly a fighting game gem. Which is honestly why I don't mind them taking their time on characters. I'd rather have each character look unique and interesting rather than a watered down version of what it could be
Speaking of Makoto; i wonder what her game-plan would be like with drive rushes being a thing.

I' just got into fighting games and street fighter 6 is the game that brought me in and as a newbie I'm really excited for edd can't wait.

To be fair bison had tons of bodies lol ,he had cammy decapre juli,juni and god knows how many unlisted dolls,then there's the Seth bodies and Seth's current female body that seems to have a bit of bison energy in it driving him mad. Long live general bison!

I love how they model his fighting style after Thomas “The Hitman” Hearns. With his pendulum swinging lead hand and his flicker jabs.
Even thinking about it is great! My friend who was a Ed player who got me into 5 is elated by this and may play each other in 6!

6:10 psycho flicker looks and feels like Axl's go fishing move in Xrd, but you have to hold it to become yamazaki's hook
They can do all sorts of crazy stuff with Ed that couldn’t do with Balrog or Dudley who should remain traditional.
His animations are amazing

I wasn't sure what to expect and was still looking forward to him as a character but this really blew me away, I'm HYPED to play him now.
Expectations for the character escalated quickly from "Ed May Cry 6" to "Ed on P.E.D's"
I like Ed but i wanted Mikoto really bad. A karateka with no fireball and killer punches....is what i want.

Joking aside, Ed is a huge glowup from how he was in SF5, he looks amazing and I dont think him being in the game decomfirms Dudley in any way. If the previous game could have 6 Shotos, 3 Pro Wrestlers and 2 Boxers, I am sure there wont be an issue if SF6 has Ed AND Dudley in the same game
Dude they made this guy look so sick! That lvl 3 and CA are also so fun and unique especially since they make the characters so expressive

Ed in this version is merging stuff from two of my favorite KOF characters into a single character, I gotta play him at least a little.
Max missed out all the whole entire area during the first reveal trailer of Ed that's kind of hilarious, knowing that playing the actual first player mode is giving you a tease at the story and DLC that's possible is pretty cool

inb4 Bison-Seth or Biseth or something. Still, one thing SF6 is doing extremely well is giving everyone a glow up. Ed looks way better here and his moves are cooler so I'm looking forward to watching matches with him.
I would have 1000% preferred Dudley as the Boxer, but they've done a good job with Ed, I'll admit. If they can make Ed this cool, I can't wait to see Akuma. 😮

Them going so unbelievably ham on Ed's design, moveset, and animations proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt that the SF6 team can take ANY past Street Fighter character with missed potential and make them something truly special

As someone who's never played any recent street fighter, Ed looks like my kind of character. I think they did a good job making his boxing+psychopower look fun and engaging.
Ed with a mix of steve, and Ryuji Yamazaki.. and Dudley
With his new moveset, focus on his abilities as a boxer, and the SICK alternate costume, Ed actually looks like a legitimate character now!
The intro was fire i need a full version
SF6 has the ability to make every character leave a great first impression. I can't remember a single character that didn't make me think at least "looks fun, I wanna try" when first introduced. Some turn out disappointing afterwards and some don't, but the first impressions are consistently good for me.
