    MUMBAI AC LOCAL TRAIN
    Indian Railway started India’s First Ever Broad Gauge Air-conditioned AC EMU (Mumbai AC
    Local Train) of 12-car rake fitted with Indigenous 3-phase Propulsion system on Western
    Railway’s Mumbai Suburban (Local Trains) section on 25.12.2017. Following are the details
    regarding fare, features, timings of AC EMU in Central Railway and Western Railway.
    Central Railway : AC Local Trains
    Central Railway runs a total of 1810 suburban services including AC locals. With the
    increase of 12 AC services with effect from 14.5.2022 on Main line (CSMT-
    Kalyan/Titwala /Ambernath) the total AC services (on weekdays) on Main line has
    increased from 44 to 56. Now, Titwala and Ambarnath route passengers can also avail the
    AC services in peak hours. Central Railway has decided to run 14 additional AC services on
    Sundays and Nominated Holidays also.

    I'm not telling AC locals are complete failure, If you watch till the end I have acknowledged that AC locals are getting traction and video id about why it took 5 years to become successful

      Actually The only constraint for AC Locals is Fare because Non AC is too cheap compared to AC so many people prefer Non AC
      Most people who travel in Mumbai Suburbs are poor/middle people

    Buddy, the AC trains are a hit on the Western line. I travel in AC trains everyday during the peak hours and it's full. I agree it may not have that many passengers during the slack hours, but it's packed. No, not everyone is without ticket, TCS are regular in these trains. Can't comment about the Central line.

      It's also the same in the central line, after the fare reduction it is a hit now in peak hours specially. Harbours are failures and harbour people also don't deserve the AC train.

      @@vikrantsatpute9984 haha. AC trains on Harbour line have been canceled and all those have been moved to Western & Central. That's why we have more trains now. I have heard that they'll be introducing more trains on both the lines.

    AC Local has not failed.
    It may be struggling but hasn't failed. I have been traveling on the AC local since it's commencement on the central line. Since then it has gained momentum in increasing crowd.
    Not all trains have bad timing.
    The cost have reduced drastically.
    I haven't seen any water leakage problem this monsoon yet.
    There is a routine check by the TCs with a lady Railway Police constable.
    This video could have been made on a positive note to encourage passengers along with the said criticism.

    AC trains are great. They haven't failed whatsoever. I often travel in them & they're fairly full.

      They failed on Harbor line. But that was because they launched it in winter season. You'd never know what response it would have gotten if it was started during summer.

    as a regular pass holding commuter, I will never be able to travel without AC locals, the convenience is addictive. Don't know who told you it has failed, I see regulars like me on the train everyday, we plan our workday around the train schedule...

    Mumbai AC local trains are in no way a failure. In fact the date that you mentioned, the trains run to packed capacity during peak hours. The user feedback is to increase the number of trains to at least double it.

    I don't know which line this is but in central line ac local trains have been a huge success. People travel by standing during peak hours because there are no seats left.

    Its a shame that we dont have good public transportation in our financial capital
    Even our tier 2 cities have better roads connectivity metros brts and rings roads than mumbai
    Gladly alot of work has been done recently..so im happy that mumbai will get metro ..alot of bridges and flyover finally what its people deserves

      Ac train is due to safety. Daily 2-3 people die in Mumbai local. The door closing feature is for safety

      It will cause lot of chaos and confusion on the platform. Lot of new people travel in local train daily. They might make mistake of getting into AC coach as well.

    Railways should introduce Air conditioned MEMU's in other railway zones .
    This will not only reduce the burden on express trains which are overcrowded but will facilitate ease of journey for passangers travelling on short distance for 4-5hrs

      Second class and ticketless travellers will use AC Memu on other routes. Last Sunday I travelled in first class from Lonavala to Pune, 95/- ticket is cheap but it was a nightmare, all sorts of people board first class without any shame and worry. If you tell them this is first class instead of getting down they make fun of you. Even ladies first class was full of male tapori passengers. Even they board in AC chair car of express trains on Pune Mumbai route. These passages sit in front of doors and makes it difficult to deboard. There is no rule of law. I am going to write this to Railway Minister, unnecessarily Modi is saying Achhe Din.

      @@riteshr9477 100% correct. I also to think and suggest railways to arrange first class coaches on one end of train only and that portion of platform should have access system like metro station with TC standing on every Station at that entry point.

      @@vatsayana2004 even in AC locals, people without tickets board the train. It's almost impossible to separate such people from the eligible ones. Maybe AC locals will need dedicated platforms with fixed entry and exit points. But it seems tough to implement.

    I have to agree.
    This is the future of the Mumbai Local train. Like it or hate it but people will be forced to accept the change in due time.
    Non AC locals will be slowly phased out as more and more Metro routes are made functional and the load on the Non AC locals decrease. So rather than saying it is a failure just say it is a change in the right direction to increase rider comfort and modernize public infrastructure. Initial response doesn't mean anything as slowly this is the only thing which will be available and the ticket prices will go down.
    So yes, although the initial response isn't what Railways was expecting but there is no need to deem it as failure, as it is the future of Mumbai Locals.

    Timing is more important, I always wanted to travel from this train to my college, but at 6:25 AM the AC train travels from CSMT to Kalyan instead of Kalyan to CSMT or Karjat To CSMT, the timings and routes are completely insane

    Simple reason :- why I not travel in AC local. :- Too much price. Bsss.
    Solution:- Normal local train ko hata ke Sare local ko AC krdo Or price jo KYN -CSMT ka 15 hai usko 30 krdo 100 nhi.

    AC local kisne maangi thee? may be less than 1% of mumbai's local train commuters might have demanded AC local... the real problems are different.. hame kam bheed chahiye.. train time par chahiye.. frequency jyada ho.. naye rail route banaye jaaye. platform par suvidha ho. . we didn't ask for AC train.. it is luxury.. we want our necessity first , comfort later and luxury last.

    AC trains are only for the posh cities like mumbai. In india, if anything has to get great success from business point of view then it must be of lower cost. Rural people in india will not pay more for any extra comfort/facility other than fulfilling the basic need if any other cheaper option is present. The fact is also clear from the losses of the american/europian car companies (ford/GM...etc) who left india as their western world strategy was not accepted in indian people and the market is dominated by Suzuki/ Tata/ mahindra type of cars.

    Everyone is missing one imp point. It has nothing to do with price. In mumbai people do look for comfort. Issue is locals are not on correct time. Example from kalyan after 6:30 next train is at 9. There is no train to ensure person reaches office by 9:30. Trains should be there in higher number on correct time

    Ac local is not failed, in fact its a best thing mumbaikars can have, there are things that are not in favour of people is its high price, more ac trains than normal train, as normal trains are affordable to mass class also the capacity of normal train is unlimited than ac train which have limited capacity for people. And main thing is people dont want to change their mindset towards developing city trends.

    Ticket price is the main reason along with frequency. If best can provide 6 rs ac ticket then railways can provide 10rs min ticket.

      Railways do provide Rs 10 tickets lol, it's called general call. Then their is 1st class and above that is AC class, which is discussed in video.

    To actualize the full potential of AC trains (at least on CR), discontinue FC compartments in regular locals and convert it into complete general class train with dedicated compartments to women and physically disabled. AC trains to run as dedicated FC compartment trains. AC Train season ticket shud be same as FC fares so that commuters will opt for AC trains.Also run AC trains after every 3-4 trips of normal trains. This will lead to proper distribution of crowd, even during peak hours.

    Well AC locals have been somewhat successful after the prices were reduced during summers.
    But all local trains cannot and should not be replaced by AC trains. I travel in non AC train becoz the fare is almost 6 times compared to second class. And whenever a AC train arrives at a platform, the local train arriving after that gets crowded too much.
    As more and more AC trains get introduced the crowd on local trains will increase, until I guess there will be protest. And some protest have happened against AC locals even after reducing price. I won't be surprised if there would be large scale protest in future as more and more trains get introduced.
    AC trains can be introduced only upto a certain treashold without causing inconvenience to the people travelling in non AC local trains.

      @@iswap007 How can they ?? A monthly pass of AC local is almost 6 times the one for non AC local. Non AC local are very very cheap and AC locals even after reducing fares can't compete with them.
      The problem could be solve by using semi-AC locals but that concept was facing some technical issue.
      Another way to solve the problem is by introducing more lines to increase services. For eg on WR 1 line (up & down) for Borivali passengers, 1 for virar, 1 for fast locals and another one for express/mail. But such things could take decades as currently even building 1 track on the network is taking more than 15 years.

Especially em being from ecntral line central line has more passengers than western but their income is much lesser causing greater problems on central line.

    The fare of AC locals is stupendous. There is no logic why it should be so much. It shouldn’t in any way be more than 3 times the normal fare.

    Once AC trains become more common, prices will reduce significantly and become almost like non AC fares. In fact, we shouldn't consider AC as a ' luxury '. It is basic comfort for the passengers and crew.

    I totally agree with u even i think that if common local trains charges 15 Rs fare of travel then Ac local should charge atmost 30rs the travel fare. Then only it would be successful and budget friendly for every mumbaikars

    Also most ac trains are not functioning on Sunday, I mean people like to go town side on sundays for recreational purposes and such travellers will not mind spending extra to go comfortably alas hardly any trains
    I know rakes need to go for maintenance but isn't this a business opportunity?

    I think instead of AC local they should have adjusted AC compartments to each running local . And as per demand they can add or minus the compartments.

      Way too complex.. remember this is not express, they are trainsets.. so you can't actually adjust them accordingly after it is manufactured and sent into service

    I think railways should give 1 AC coach to not all but at least every 3rd local train, rather than having a complete AC local.
    The problem of having a full AC local is that we have to be on time to catch it. In a city like Mumbai our job timings are not fixed especially the leaving time. So most of the people don't buy it's seasonal pass.
    This won't be a problem if every 3rd local train has an AC coach.

    Even if it has failed although i don't believe it.....it is worth populating Mumbai suburb with ac local. It will improve the quality of travel of mumbaikars. It is filthy and traumatic to travel like cats and dogs in current local trains.

    Prices should be slashed 50% more and allow AC train ticket to be valid for normal train as well, people will then be ready to take minor risk of price difference and in future when ac train frequency will be improved, this risk reduces. Prices then can be gradually improved to sustain the system an revenue

    response milega.. jab platform pe ticket ki suvidha ho to.... bcz time ka kabhi andaz nahi ata.....jab train anewali ho to indicator pe dikhta hai.. but fir se bhagke line lagake ticket nikalna mushkil hota hai.. fir se bhag ke platform pe nahi aa sakte.. kabhi kabhi aisa hota hai train late hoti hai... ustime samjho ac ki ticket nikali.... aur hame der ho rahi ho to public normal train se safar karta hai...actual bohat sare hai problems....mainly kya train bohat chalegi.. but bus jaise ticket ki suvidha ho to aam insan bhi ac se safar karega....ham m-indicator me dekhte hai.. fir ate hai...but kai time traffic me fasne ki vaja se late hota hai.. samjo usme bhi line lagake ticket nikali to kai time train bhi nikal jaati hai...fir kya kare?
